Winsome Wood Leo Wood 4 Tier Shelf with 5 Rattan Baskets - 1 large; 4 small in Espresso Finish

This was my first winsome wood purchase... and am very pleased. The shelf unit was VERY easy to assemble...took about 30min and was sturdy. I am using this as a TV stand on the very top shelf...and loaded up books on the bottom two shelves...with rattan baskets on the shelf just under the TV. I used the remaining baskets with another winsome wood shelf unit that I bought from amazon.

The color of the expresso is very dark brown, but looks elegant with the rattan baskets which have a cedar/cherry type weave to them. I have cherry wood in my bedroom and this was a great way to bring in the dark brown expresso wood without clashing since the baskets had a cherry weave in them.

The baskets are sturdy and seem to be strong enough to hold everything from jeans to random lighter items.

The wood itself was not as smooth/sanded as I personally would have liked... so after the expresso staining by the manufacturer it had the duller appearance in the places that the wood was rough. This was easy to adapt to by turning the wood piece over to hide it. For the price it was worth every penny... I prefer solid wood over particle board any day of the week!

My first beef is with shipping. I waited 2 weeks past the listed "estimated delivery date" to receive it. It's sturdy and overall I think I'll like it once I finally get it assembled...which leads me to to my second beef. The unit has pre drilled holes which worked just fine until I tried to attach the top board. They didn't pre drill the holes on the top large enough, the screw head wouldn't fit. At this point the rest of the cabinet was already assembled so my husband couldn't make the holes bigger without damaging it. We bought some screws with a smaller head but that didn't work because the screw went way to far into the hole and almost poped through the top. This is very irritating. I have to try a different screw which means another trip to the store. If you order, double check that all of the screws fit into the pre drilled holes before you start to assemble.

I bought this for my foyer because of its elegant design and the fact that the depth is just 11.5 inches. It's hard to find units that narrow. I use it for hats, scarfs and gloves. It was easy to assemble and looks like the picture. There were two issues that stopped me from giving it five stars. One of the drill holes was missing, which would have been a real problem if my friend did not have a drill. Also, while the wood and the baskets seem very sturdy, parts of the wood are scuffed with a few rough patches. However, because the unit arrived in three boxes, I wasn't about to send it back. Overall it's a nice piece to have in the entryway.

Well looks AREN'T everything, but they are a big part of why you pick certain furniture. This piece is very basic and easy to assemble and comes with the tools you need if you don't already own an allen® wrench set. Personally, I used an Allen® socket on a ratchet to speed up the process of assembly.

The wood is pine, but it's stained fairly well and it looks decent. I think it has one application of poly on it as it looks like it's pretty thin. The fact is is this is NOT an expensive piece of furniture. It serves its purpose well and looks decent while doing it.

Assembly time (with a 2 year old "helping") is around 30 minutes, take off 15 for anyone not having to walk around and look for all the screws and boards. lol

Baskets are thin rattan style baskets that look to be fairly sturdy. They're weaved over a steel wire structure.

I've added pictures of a board. It's the top board and the picture shows the underside which is only visible if you're on the floor looking up.

This wood tier shelf is very heavy and sturdy. I was very pleasantly surprised at how well constructed it is...I was not expecting such high quality. The baskets are deep and can hold quite a bit of stuff. It matches my furniture very well...Love it and highly recommend it!
