Simpli Home AXWSH004 Warm Shaker Collection 47-Inch Tv Stand, Honey Brown, 1-PackI was excited when I finally found something to match our Shaker furniture. But the excitement ended there. When the package arrived the box had rips but nothing that looked like it would damage the product. When I opened it I really believe this was a return that had been resold. The protective wrapping was torn and there were numerous large dents, gashes and nicks in the wood. So I also returned this stand and was going to have them send me another only to find they were out of stock and had no date of when they would be available. It really looked like it could have been a nice item but I read other reviews where people had a very similar experience with this item. To bad I really was disappointed. I will say Amazon was great about the return and issued my refund quickly.

First off, I can't give a review on this other than the shipping process and how Amazon has worked to resolve the issue.

So here is a history of the what's happened to me so far...

I order the product on Deceber 30th and get an estimated shipping date of January 2nd, which comes and goes so I check online and the ship date now shows Janary 4th. Ok, it's right before the weekend so figure I'll take Thursday night and put all my movies and cds from my old entertainment center into boxes, bring up an old rickety bookshelf to put the TV on, have the dvd player and PS3 for my son put on plastic milk crates to keep it the air flowing over them, etc. and I'm really looking forward to finally getting something nice for my TV.

Weeeelll, that's not exactly what happens. When I get home on Friday, the piece hasn't arrived yet, and I notice that it says "there was an exception to the shipping process" in the tracking code, and my package hasn't even left the depot yet in South Carolina (I live in Wisconsin). Well, color me mad, but I'm like problems happen, Amazon has been good to me, yada yada. Well, it's late, but on the move to Illinois so things are good and I should be getting it soon.

Well, the weekend arrives...nothing... I check the package and it's in Illinois, and the ship date has been changed to the 7th (I had signed up for text alerts, by the way, and didn't that, either) so ok. Monday arrives, no package. Ship date is now the 8th and no text or email alerts. Tuesday arrives, no package and tracking number shows package is still in Illinois...huh? Ok, well I guess they feel it will still get here on time...uh, no...Tuesday after work, nothing. Wednesday, nothing. Thursday I get an email (and a text, yay!) stating my package was delivered to the wrong warehouse in Illinois and is already BACK in South Carolina! At this point I'm like what the heck, but I really want this piece so I'm sure they'll get it figured out.

By the end of the day on the 10th, I get a message that package is already being loaded for departure and on its way back to Wisconsin..on the 12th it's in Tennessee, on the 14th it's in Hodgkins Illinois, on the 15th it's in Madison, WI and about 15 minutes from my house. Woohoo! ... and then I get an email (and text) that the package may have been damaged in delivery and to call Amazon if there are any problems. Uh, ok. So you're going to deliver it anyway? Alright, but if it's damaged, you better not charge me to send it back! I guess after the text and email, someone realized it might not be a good idea to deliver a damaged product ,and I get an email and text showing the package is being sent back to shipper.

So at this point, I'm like what do I do now? Does Amazon refund me? Do they ship out another product? I mean, what am I supposed to do, here? Well, they did text me a number to call when my package arrived, so I call it. Any idea what happened next? I get an automated attendant saying that this is no longer the customer service line for Amazon and that I have to go to a web site address, put in my phone number, and then someone will call me back "immediately". Ah, well guess what, I'm at work. I don't have a direct line and I can't get a signal on my cell.

So...I Google the customer support line, call it, and finally get through to someone who says I have to wait until the package comes back to the warehouse, wait a few days to have my money returned to the account, then can do a search for the new product and re-order if I wish. What? Why on earth would you make someone go through all that. You already have my money. Just ask me if it's ok to ship another one. They can see it was never delivered so it's not like I could pull anything on them, and then I don't have to go through all this.

To make a long story short, they won't do that and to my dismay, the price of the item has gone up in price, so if I want to re-order I'm going to have to pay more to get the same item four to six weeks AFTER it was supposed to be delivered.

Amazon, in every other purchase I've had from you, you've been great....in this instance...you've sucked and sucked badly.

Real wood, very sturdy. Directions were a little vague. I put every piece on backwards, and had to re-do it more than once. That is why it only has 4 stars. Once finally complete, it looks great!
