Five Shelf Metal Bookcase

Five Shelf Metal BookcaseI just received and assembled this bookcase and am very pleased. What I wanted in a bookcase was something that was tall enough and sturdy enough to hold a lot of books, not look too bad, and importantly not be so heavy that it was a pain to move. This bookcase nicely fills the bill. It has five big shelves, all steel construction, yet it weighs only 31 pounds.

The steel shelves snap onto steel tubes that are bolted securely to the side rails by long heavy bolts. While there are no diagonal cross members, the bookshelf when assembled is quite sturdy because there are a total of 15 horizontal members. The steel shelves are made of heavy gauge steel perforated by a lot of small holes and feel quite sturdy. All pieces were 100% painted. I had no problem assembling it. It is made in Taiwan.

Comparable wooden bookcases are all much heavier. A problem I found with the less expensive wooden bookcases was that the weight handling ability of the shelves was suspect. These bookcases often use flimsy plastic brackets that poke into small holes in the side wood to hold up the shelves.

I wasn't expecting this to be as good as it is, especially considering the low price (found cheaper on another site), however it has exceeded my expectations. I feared that it would be light and rickety, when in fact it's surprisingly sturdy and solid. It's also easy to put together, and holds a good number of books with no need for bookends. It also has a nice clean contemporary look to it and has a fairly low footprint to save on space. I bought a few more because I was so impressed, and considering you can get pretty poorly made fiberboard and paperfilled plywood shelving for a similar price, this metal bookcase seems like a no brainer when it comes to style and value!

I bought two of these based on these reviews. They are flimsy at best. The shelves wobble both empty and with books on them. They seem very overpriced...something you might pick up a yard sale used for $20.

I agree with Donald Fulton's 2005 review completely and wanted to up the overall rating of this bookcase. A senior woman, I assembled the entire thing in an hour (key provided for thirty included screws for crosspieces, miniscrewer needed for only two Philips-head included screws). I can move the bookcase easily when it is assembled, yet it is sturdy enough to hold my tax and legal volumes which weigh a ton. It was well packaged by the manufacturer, contained no scratches, and the tiny airholes in the shelves will permit some air circulation. The shelves are tall enough to hold magazines, and the end pieces are great since the books don't fall off the shelf. This is perfect for a basement where humidity would destroy wood and MDF, and I wish they made a wider model for us book crazies. It would also be great for a pantry or a garage. If this seems to fit your needs, give it a try. It is easy to assemble, sturdy, convenient.

Virtu USA MDC-5220 Wilson Vanity Side Cabinet, 19.7-Inch Wide, 15.7-Inch Deep, 71.5-Inch High , Espresso FinishWe just updated our bath and needed a linen tower to match the new vanity. The service we received from the seller was "spot on" and very helpful. The unit is two separate pieces which I wasn't prepared for but it made it easy to unpack and install. The dimensions were accurate. I will most definitely go back to this seller when I am in the market again.

Organize It All Manhattan 2-Tier Wood Mounting Shelf with Towel Bars

Organize It All Manhattan 2-Tier Wood Mounting Shelf with Towel BarsFinished our bathroom off with this shelf as a topper above the toliet. It is small, but so was the space so it fit perfectly, easy to assemble and VERY sturdy, well worth the price! Large enough to put hand towels and bathroom accessories on...

The unit came in what appeared to be fine condition. However, when I went to assemble it one of the holes was not deep enough and it was off in comparison to the metal bracket. Unfortunately, I did not realize the depth issue until after the compressed wood board cracked under nothing more than hand torque. I picked up a board at the lumber yard and will replace the shelves on this.

Once you get it up, the shelf looks great and I am very happy with it. I had a very narrow space for it and it fits perfectly. On the other hand, the guy who wrote "Easy to Assemble" on the box probably never actually tried to do it. If you're the type that needs instructions, you may have a problem. The insert says "Please Read All Instructions before Assembling." There is exactly one four-line paragraph to be read; the rest is an unhelpful graphic, more of a schematic that a professional would find easy to read, but was useless for an amateur DIYer like me. If it weren't for that problem, I'd give it five stars, but I think i have to downgrade it to four.

Easy Track 24-Inch Shoe Shelves, 3-Pack

Easy Track RS1600-T 24-Inch Shoe Shelves, Truffle, 3-PackI would recommend this very flexible system for any DIY, it make a great closet. However I found that the melamine finish--at least in the white--to be extremely thin and brittle. It chips and flakes easily.Take extreme care during installation, the slightest bump will cause damage. My other disappointment was that the packaging doesn't do a good job of protecting the corners; I ordered two sets of these nice shoe shelves, the first set set arrived with dings and gashes on edges of one shelf, the second set came with all the corners on three shelves crushed and were returned.

Madesmart 3.6 by 9.6 by 14-1/2 to 25-3/4 Inch Expandable Shelf Organizer

Madesmart 3.6 by 9.6 by 14-1/2 to 25-3/4 Inch Expandable Shelf OrganizerI purchased both the Madesmart 3.6 by 9.6 by 14-1/2 to 25-3/4 Inch Expandable Shelf Organizer and the Copco 2555-0188 Non-Skid 3-Tier Cabinet Organizer, 15-Inch to organize my vitamin collection in my kitchen cabinet. Both items are very similar, but personally, I prefer the Madesmart model. My reasons below:

1. Madesmart expands sideways to almost 26 inches, which is 11 more inches than the Copco. Copco also makes a model that expands to similar dimensions, but I could not find it for sale on Amazon.

2. Madesmart color is a light grey that looks lighter and more modern than the Copco's dark grey.

3. Madesmart uses nubbins that are slightly raised from the surface, that grip items a bit better than the Copco's wave shaped patterns, that are not raised, but instead are grooves.

4. Most important, the Madesmart has more shelf space. The total depth of the Madesmart is 9-3/8", with about a 3" depth per shelf. The total depth of the Copco is 9", with about 2-13/16" depth per shelf. So each of the 3 shelves on the Madesmart has 3/16" more depth (6.25%), which is very helpful for holding larger/wider vitamin bottles.

I bought three and immediately put them to good use. Now I can see everything in my cabinet instead of having to root around.

I really want to add a picture but I can't figure out how to add one to my review.

By the way, all three organizers came with the top step liner lifting on the corners, but some glue fixed them right away.

***Update: Figured out how to add picture. That's my spice cabinet *beaming*

The tiered shelves were exactly what I was looking for to organize a bathroom cabinet that houses things like bandaids, lotions, nail polish, medicines, etc. Now I can see everything and don't knock over items when reaching for something from the back. Construction is solid. It rests flat and does not wobble. The non-slip works great for keeping things in their place and not sliding off the ends. Very pleased.

These things are great. Mine were left behind in a divorce, had to buy new ones. They are perfect for multiple sizes of most common spices found in grocery stores and my Penzey's spices!

We were removing the original cabinets above the stove that were 42" wide and replacing them with 32" shelves to make room for new 42" wide cabinets to the right of the stove. The above the stove cabinet had always been a disorganized mess of spices and dry goods. If we were going to go to open shelves (and less width at that), for all to see, we'd have to find a way to keep it really organized. This was the perfect solution.

I expected a low quality plastic for the low price I paid. I was surprised at how heavy the plastic and sturdy the construction was. I saw the same item at Lowe's last weekend for twice the price I paid on Amazon.

I posted the before/after pics above. I definitely recommend this product. I love cooking/baking, and we have a ton of spices. Most spice racks/carousels only hold 12-15 spices. You can fit that many spices on one shelf alone on this organizer. It's a great solution for those with lots of baking goods like I have.

Tip: I pushed the rack back a little so that my first row of spices isn't on the rack, actually giving me four tiers instead of three.

Organize It All Shelf with Towel Rack

Organize It All Shelf with Towel RackThis rack is large, and pretty sturdy. The drawback is that it does not cope with humidity very well; the chrome plating is thin enough that regular exposure to moisture will cause parts of it to rust a little. If you have a well-ventilated bathroom (and you are in the habit of actually using the ventilation when the shower is being used), or a bathroom in which the shower is rarely used, this will work very well. However, if your bathroom mirror is fogged over on a regular basis, you probably want to look elsewhere.

This is a very lovely bath shelf and towel rack. The dimensions are not stated in the description, which are: 26in x 11.25in x 7.75in. It has a metal frame with a shiny chrome finish. This was the least expensive hotel style towel rack I could find and thought it would be flimsy but quite the contrary, it is VERY NICE and I love how it looks in my shower room! (note: the shipping and handling costs almost as much as the rack itself.. I live in Hawaii)

I wanted a towel rack and the only spot I had near the sink was over the toilet. This rack worked out great. It was shipped quickly and was quite easy to put together, I did myself. My husband mounted it to the wall but I dont think it was hard, just a few anchors and screws. I put two baskets on the shelf but you could stack towels or anything you might want. This rack is very solid and looks good. I think it was a great deal especially when you see the prices of some of the "hotel style" racks. Hope this helps.

It is sturdy, pretty, and functional. It hangs two regular sized towels to dry. And holds folded towels at the top. It's quite handy. Putting it together was a snap. As a tip for hanging to the wall, trace the holes of this rack onto a large paper (like newspaper) and then center that paper onto the wall where you want to hang this rack. That way, you don't have to measure the distance from that hole to this hole and from that hole to that wall corner, yada yada. Just a quick tip.

I bought this for a very small bathroom. I mounted it inside the bath/shower opposite the shower, high enough to avoid getting splashed. I've had it for a couple years now, and it looks like new. The upper bars hold towels and the lower bars are to hang towels and washcloths to dry after use.

I was afraid that it would look just like the racks at the hotels, but with my towels and decor, that's not a problem.

I'd recommend this to anyone needing space to store extra towels, and a place to hang them after their bath or shower.

Organize It All Wicker Storage Crate

Organize It All Wicker Storage CrateFirst, the dimensions are as stated. Depends on if you measure outside to outside or inside to inside. Right now I am trying to change my house around and am using these crates (I have 5 of them) to store some of my DVD Series Sets. These crates are sturdy, durable, beautiful in color, and very well made. I would recommend these to anyone who needs or wants a very durable, sturdy crate/basket. I am actually looking at purchasing more of these. They are GREAT!

The basket quality was very nice, but not even close to the size listed. It was much smaller. I was very disappointed and ended up sending it back since it cost me more that a basket from Home Depot for only $20.

Delivery was not great but it was good as I expected.

Color and shape were exactly same as I saw on screen.

I think I can enjoy its compotable country style.

I'm a rattan and wicker devotee, as I cannot stand the cheap look of plastic. I tend not to be the neatest person in the world, so storing stuff in baskets is a good way for me to make things look decent. This basket is very nice.

Quantum Storage Systems SL18 Side Ledge for 18" Deep Wire Shelving Units, Chrome Finish, 1&#03

Quantum Storage Systems SL18 Side Ledge for 18' Deep Wire Shelving Units, Chrome Finish, 1' Width x 18' Length x 4' Height
  • Accessories for chrome wire shelving units
  • Acts as a perimeter to retain shelf items and prevent anything from falling off
  • Made of carbon steel; chrome finish
  • 4" Height
  • 18" Shelf length

I suddenly realized a need for a tall bakers rack type of item for my kitchen. I looked into the METRO Commercial line of chromed steel wire racks. They look and work excellent. Some might be fine with InterMETRO as well, for lighter weight items.

In any case, I discovered, much to my dismay, that the rack company did not offer any sort of proper siding / backing, to keep items from sliding off the racks which can especially happen during movement. Then I discovered these sidings / backings and tried it. It worked excellently. Fit very nice and neat, but snugly, and provides an exceptional appearance as well as the sturdiness of support all the way around. If you are going to buy any metal wire racks, I very much recommend that you also purchase these sides and backs to go with them, just for added security.

Atdec Visidec VF-AT-NK Focus Monitor Arm Single to Support Displays Up to 24 Inch (Polished)

Atdec Visidec VF-AT-NK Focus Monitor Arm Single to Support Displays Up to 24 InchThis arm works very well for my 15" macbook pro. It's construction is solid and I trust it with my expensive mac. These arms look great and are strong. Plus they have several well designed features like a built in place to store the alen wrench you need to adjust them.

However, it isn't quite as solid as I'd like. I'm focusing on the improvements I'd like to see, but don't be put off this really is a 4+ star product.

* It wiggles as I type

* the Arm isn't tight enough around the pole it has about 1-5 degrees of play. This isn't too bad gravity pulls it down to the lower end of the range, but it means the laptop sits crooked enough that I notice. This can be resolved by taking apart the arm just below the laptop and loosening the swivel screen so you can rotate the laptop tray without moving the arm don't overlossen, you still want this adjustment stiff. Small swivel adjustments in this away allowed me to bring my laptop back to perfectly level.

* The "feet" that stop the laptop from sliding off are way too tall from my macbook by more than 2x. I've found a way to position them so they don't get in the way too much, but still bump in to them often. It would be nice if there were two sizes of feet to choose from.

* You can't slide the arm up and down the pole easily. I was hoping for a quick release mechanism so I could adjust the hight if I wanted to sit or stand. It takes a lot of effort to get it into position and locked down. Once you get it right, you won't want to adjust it again.

Sometimes you pay more and and do not seem to get the value you expected out of an item.

In this case, its pricey, but it really works quite well, heavy metal components; when you tighten something it stays tight.

It would be nice to have bit more degrees of freedom on the notebook mount itself, and sure I would like it to be rock solid (which it is not) but I have no fear at all that it will suddenly shift or that the notebook would drop off.

make sure to keep an eye on which kit you are buying, some include the main mounting pole, and some do NOT...

pricey, but it works well...

Buy Atdec Visidec VF-AT-NK Focus Monitor Arm Single to Support Displays Up to 24 Inch (Polished) Now

I originally bought the pole and arm setup (Visidec Focus Articulated Monitor Arm to Support Displays Up to 24 Inch) for just my my 24" monitor, which works as intended, but after a while I noticed a slight lean due to the weight of the screen. I'm a big guy, 6'5", so I need my monitor a bit higher than most people and had to put the arm a bit higher on the pole. I'm sure this adds to the lean as well.

I also have a 17" Alienware laptop, or as i call it, my small boat anchor, that need a home on my desk somewhere.

With this arm my setup is well balanced. It accommodates my beast of a gaming laptop and my monitor, but just barely. And I mean JUST barely.

If you have heavy items like I do, I would highly suggest that you drill the 1/8 hole in your desk and install that route. The C-clamp bracket thing should work fine if you have smaller ticket items.

Again, great product for the cost and just because it says it can take a laptop up to 17lbs and 24" monitors doesn't mean you have to.

The visidec monitor arms are great, but this monitor arm with the notebook stand seems to have a slight lean to it which is really annoying. My monitor arm tightly fits and the monitor is straight, but this arm doesn't seem to be as tight around the pole which allows the notebook to lean from left to right. Other than that slight annoyance, i believe this is a great product.
