I bought this shelf thinking it would be similar to the one I had put together back in college and found very useful and sturdy. Certainly the two shelves looked similar in the package. Upon taking the pieces out to assemble, I immediately noticed a striking difference between the two. On lifting the first piece (a shelf piece) it fell apart. The slats fell out of groove of the end piece which is supposed to hold them all together. Optimistically thinking that a little glue would fix it, I kept going through the stack of parts until reaching the final shelf, the one which cracked apart upon being lifted and can't be fixed with glue at all. I read about the person who found assembly lengthy and tedious, I couldn't tell you about that as I don't have enough actual functioning parts left over from just opening the package and sorting out the pieces that I could create any sort of shelving unit at all. The wood is dry and brittle and unusable as shelving. It's kindling, and I've spent more than I really should have for kindling.

Assembly seems simple but took a frustratingly long time with lots of scewing in/aligning. I got the two separate pieces assembled but had problems getting them together because they were misaligned. Also they were wobblier than I would have liked. Disappointing.

I bought two of these both came in boxes that were damaged, the box was way too big for the product when I opened each, the shelves came apart. I had to put the shelves back together one unit worked wonderfully and is working well. The other is basically kindling wood for the fire place I tried to glue it twice without success. I would never order shelves like this again I will purchase them in the store and transport them myself.

I assembled them using Gorilla brand wood glue at every screw and every seam. This is the key to having a sturdy result. That and following the directions that tell you to NOT tighten everything down until fully assembled. Some of the screw holes aren't precise and by NOT tightening everything down fully, it allows you to force those to line up. I've purchased a total of 5 sets of these shelves for our homeschool supplies and for my husband's military gear. These are VERY sturdy if you put effort and care into the assembly. I will consider buying these again, if I need more shelving.

Winsome Martini Entertainment Bar

This bar is pretty much what you'd expect -3 pieces of curved, black, tempered glass and some screw-together legs. It goes together easily -mostly just by hand, except for the nuts to keep the shelf-back pieces on -and it looks like 3 glass shelves with chrome tube between them when you're done.

Like most of this glass-and-tube furniture, the glass is held in place by pinching it between two tubes. The tubes are themselves held together by means of a threaded stud and a couple of nuts that have been welded to the inside the ends of each tube. For 8 of the 12 studs required to assemble this bar, the manufacture provides "long" studs which work fine. But for the last 4 they supply and instruct you to use a separate set of "short" studs. Depending on exactly where the nuts got welded into your tubes these shorter studs may or may not be long enough. None of mine were, but if I had rearranged the legs I could probably have gotten one or two to fit.

I just bought my own studs. It's an easy part to find at a hardware store, and they're only a few cents each; I don't understand why the manufacturer skimped out on the last 4 studs -the longer ones would have fit in those positions, and the price difference between 3" studs and 2" studs can't be significant compared to the wholesale cost of this item. Honestly the cost of stocking two different kinds of studs and writing instructions about how to use them probably costs more than just providing the longer studs in the first place.

Bear in mind that none of this affects the look of the piece; all of the flaws are internal. And assuming you get (or provide) long enough studs it's all perfectly sound structurally. So once you get it together there's not problem, just bear in mind you might need to make a trip to the hardware store to make that happen.

I did not attempt to get replacement parts from the manufacturer. For the $2 cost of additional studs it wasn't worth my time on the phone, waiting for parts, etc. Presumably they would have sent me another bag of longer studs if I called and bothered them about it.

I ordered this from Amazon through Stacks-and-Stacks Inc. out of California, USA. The delivery was a day late and parts were missing from my shipment such as legs to hold up the Martini bar set including ALL screws to put the Martini Bar together and an instruction booklet. When I called the third party company's Customer Service at "Stacks-and-Stacks" Inc. they told me they would put in a work order right away. Well i didn't hear from them again for another two weeks and they never sent my missing parts. Fed up, i decided to return the product and request a refund. They took another week and a half to even arrange a Fed-Ex pick-up date for the product which they wouldn't issue a refund until the product was shipped all the way back to California, USA. Please keep in-mind we're a military family currently residing in New Jersey, USA. Now it's an entire month later, they received their incomplete product back and we're still awaiting our refund. TWO THUMBS DOWN STACKS-AND-STACKS, CA, USA!!! Needless to say, they were unprofessional in the way they conduct their customer service as well as extreamly tardy on fulfilling customer requests.

I would recommend this very flexible system for any DIY, it make a great closet. However I found that the melamine finish--at least in the white--to be extremely thin and brittle. It chips and flakes easily.Take extreme care during installation, the slightest bump will cause damage. My other disappointment was that the packaging doesn't do a good job of protecting the corners; I ordered two sets of these nice shoe shelves,the first set set arrived with dings and gashes on edges of one shelf, the second set came with all the corners on three shelves crushed and were returned.

I purchased this to do a coffee bar in my dining room (I saw it on Pinterest). I put a wire basket shelf with cup holders above it and it is really cute and handy to have everything together and off my kitchen counters. Buffet was very well made. Easy to put together with just a little reading and basic tool knowledge.

When this arrived, I took it out of the packaging and immediately noticed multiple chips and scrapes in the material. Luckily most of them were on the inside, however a few are on the front door. It's pretty cheap material and the color has a red tint to it...does not look "expresso" to me. I wouldn't recommend this if you are looking for a nice quality Buffet. It gets the job done if you are looking to spend less money.

Received the package just before 3pm this afternoon. After reading all of the reviews here, I first unpacked all the pieces and then reviewed the directions and checked the parts. Both the box and styrofoam are cheap and flimsy, so I was surprised to find that none of the pieces were damaged. All the wood parts are clearly labeled with their part letters. The screws and other various parts are packed together in just a few bags with numerous part-letter stickers on each bag, but as long as you can count and match the parts to the picture chart in the directions it's easy to figure out which parts are which. The directions themselves are more pictures than words, but again, easy to understand. I had this completely built in less than an hour! The only part that I even had to think twice on was the two strips that go across the bottom and middle of the front; they have cams & wood dowels closer to one edge than the other and it matters which edge is up. My only real complaint is the glue on the part-letter stickers they could use something easier to remove!!

Overall, from unpacking to finished product, I am very happy with this buffet!

I had hope for this decently-priced buffet as I was planning on using it for a bar cabinet, and hope continued as it arrived in a relatively-timely manner (given the shipping was free). Too bad I opened the box...

First of all, as soon as I opened the box tiny bits of styrofoam scattered my apartment. Apparently this stuff was supposed to be padding the pieces of my purchase, but I guess having to clean up confetti is expected, right? Now time to inspect the pieces inside the box: so far, no real problem. I get [what I thought was] 1/3 of the way done and realize that some of wood pieces, which are black, had scuff marks all over them (namely, the visible part of the top of the buffet). Deciding to further inspect, I see that every visible piece with any kind of detailing (namely, the doors) has the paint chipped off where the corners join. Lovely, just lovely. Add in 5+ hours of construction time thanks to instructions that make IKEA look like detailed geniuses and you have yourself a fantastic experience.

Never making this mistake again, and you shouldn't either. I could've got something better at a yard sale. /rant

I will start this review with you don't always 'get what you pay for'.....sometimes it's less.

We are professional cabinetmakers, have been for over 30 yrs. If I can include a picture I will, but suffice it to say we design and produce some of the most high-end cabinets and furniture still made in the USA. Sometimes, I just need something that will 'do the trick' for a space in my home, and don't want to have the expense of buying my own product. This was the case hereI just needed a printer stand with storage for a craft area. We have had quite a bit of experience with IKEA pieces and other self assemble pieces with kids going to college, etc. Not to mention (although I already did) we are PROFESSIONALS in this area. Sohere is the review:

The parts showed up in the box well packed and on time. Upon opening the box, I got a good dose of what I call the China stench, just such a chemical-laden bunch of fumes from the box. Hoping this is not what your air is like in China, but it wouldn't surprise me. It did dissipate rather quickly, and unlike a few other Made in China things I have purchased in the past few years, it wasn't something that had to air out on the patio or in the garage for a few days to keep it from killing you. Second impression: There are A LOT of parts. Not to worry, there are instructions and we are professionals :)

This is NOT a piece you could assemble on your own. I'm just sayin'.....this is a 2 person project. 2 people with the patience of Job.

You will need wood gluestandard Elmers type of glue would suffice as well. A #3 Phillips head screwdriver. We also ended up needing our cordless drill, small phillips tips, a clamp and a wrench.

What I found to be the biggest draw-back of this piece was that the machining was sloppy, making the assembly fittings either too snug or too loose, and the fact that the cam-lock assembly fittings were SO CHEAP and such a soft and low grade metal that if you twist it just a little too hard the fitting itself just starts to open up and will not hold the male counterpart to draw the pieces together. Also, where the holes are for the dowels the holes were loose, not so much round as slightly a 'wallered-out oval' so the dowels do not stay perpendicular to the piece they are inserted in. If you are not using some sort of wood glue to help hold them in place, they will fall out when you try to assemble the piece, and the cheapo cam-lock assembly fittings may or may not actually lock onto the male part to hold it together. In the end, the glued dowels are the only real chance you have that this piece will stay together at all.

It took 2 (sometimes 3) of us a full 2 1/2 hours to put this thing together, and at a few points we were really ready to just send it back. For instancethere is a piece that runs horizontally across the back that hold the thing together as well as connects the 2 back pieces together. I'm gonna tell ya right nowjust forget putting in the camlock bolts into this piece and just go with the dowels, b/c the camlock bolts do not line up correctly, and this is where you will need pliers or a wrench to jerk these pieces back out, b/c one you have screwed them in, you cannot reverse that process.

Alsoput the door hinges onto the face frame before you put it on the cabinet, b/c otherwise you have to try to stuff yourself into a little black space to screw them on, and if you are not a contortionist you may find this difficult.

The overall *quality* is about what I expect, however you will never move this piece from one home or apt to another, I would be shocked if it would survive a move. Is it an OK printer stand? Sure. It's going to do what I need it to do. Since they do not give you any indication on how big the bottom opening isit is 8 inches high and the doors are 19 1/4 inch high. I have some baskets that look pretty cute on the bottom area, and there is an adjustable shelf you can put in the section where the doors are.

I have not purchased anything else from this company, and do not plan to. If I did not have space restrictions for the space where I am using this for a printer stand, I probably would have picked something else. Or just given up and sent this back.

For the record, my son solved the "World's Most Difficult Puzzle" in less time. Seriously.

I bought two of these shelves and am very pleased with them. They are attractive and sturdy, and the folding action works smoothly.

The packaging shows care -the shelves are individually wrapped to avoid any nicks during shipping and the small hardware is in its own box with a very clear inventory so that you can check that you have everything before you get started. There's a part replacement order form in case anything is left out of your shipment, but both of mine were complete. (These might seem like obvious precautions, but I've ordered lots of assemble-yourself furniture that wasn't nearly so well thought-out.)

Assembly is not too hard. The instructions suggest that you might want an extra pair of hands, but I found that if I leaned the side piece against the wall while I was installing cross-bars, I could put together the whole thing by myself with no tools or materials other than the ones included (and I am not an especially handy person). After the previous review, I was worried that the pieces might not be made precisely enough to fit together well, but I didn't have too much trouble there; following the directions and tightening the screws gradually I was able to get the whole thing to come together snugly.

I've loaded the finished shelves up with books (including some pretty heavy dictionaries and art books) and they're showing no bending or strain. I may buy more of these for other rooms.

The bookshelf arrived quickly, there were no missing pieces, and no additional tools were required. The wood pieces were in great shape. I am pregnant and put it together with ease due to the clear and concise instructions. The final product looks great in the baby's room. :-)

The shelf is nice. However, the "pre-drilled" holes were way to small for the screws the manufacturer supplied. If you try to use the hex wrench supplied without re-drilling the "pre-drilled" holes, both the hex wrench and the screw head will strip and you will have a problem since you can not at this point tighten down the parts. So if you buy this shelf make sure you have your drill out. Once you re-drill the holes it's a breeze.

It's an ok shelf but a little rough and not all that precisely made. A lot of fit and form issues. Otherwise, it was the right size for what I needed as a display shelf.

I normally do not write reviews however, after assembling this book shelf I thought I would caution potential buyers of some of the problems I encountered. It should be very easy to assemble but the holes predrilled were not large enough. They enclose a hex head wrench which is small and really can bruise your hand when trying to get the screws into the predrilled holes. I finally got out my drill and enlarged the holes to make it somewhat easier to assemble even then you need to use caution as to not make them too big. It is a nice piece of furniture but assembly is difficult only in that it is not drilled properly!

I was looking for something to add to the storage in my cabinets and this worked perfectly. I can put little cans or spices underneath and larger cans/items on top. It's very adjustable so it will fit almost any shelf height. The picture makes it look like it deeper than it really is. I still had lots of room in front of it when I pushed it all to the back of the cabinet but other than that it is great. I'm ordering more for my other cabinets.

This divider unit is a flimsy piece of junk. It would not stay in one place in the cabinet and is not deep enough to keep items from slipping around behind it. The wood is so thin that the ends cracked and splintered after about the sixth time they shifted in travel. I threw them in the trash as soon as we got home from our vacation.

I ordered this stand for my bedroom. We have a 40" Sony XBR2 LCD TV, a cable box and Tivo DVR and were looking for a stand that would fit in a corner and would be high enough that one could watch easily from bed. I love this kitchen cart. It looks so good in my kitchen. the size is perfect cause my kitchen is very big at all. The only thing is, it was very hard to put together and it had pictures, no directions and nothing labeled....that part was bad.

Great kitchen island but be forewarned it takes FOREVER to put together. The pieces aren't labeled or numbered so you have to really spend a ton of time matching everything up. Took my boyfriend 6 hrs to do. It looks great now that it's finished but the drawer doesn't slide open easily. It doesn't have a metal track so you're pretty limited on how to make it slide open easier.

I bought a TechCraft TV Stand for my 73-inch TV on Dec 6, 2007.

On June 8, 2012, the top glass shattered into thousands of pieces for no apparent reason, causing my TV to fell to the floor.

The company do admit glass do sometime shatter, but they refuse to pay for any damages. They even request that I pay and order a replacement glass. So do your TV a favor, Do NOT buy any product from TechCraft!

This stand looks awesome and is very sturdy. It's an excellent fit for the 82" Mitsubishi DLP TVs (WD-82xxx). For perfectionists, I probably should mention that it is not a 100% fit as the TV will stick out about 1/2" on each side. (TV is wider than stand).

The stand is very well packaged. The shipper had placed the package with the stand on a pallet *underneath* the 160lbs monster of a TV. Despite that the package was crushed and cracked open in shipping from AZ to NC, all parts were intact! Amazing. The stand was easy to assemble and is VERY sturdy. The stand ships with five 5/8" hard plastic feet with 1/4" thread. After assembling the unit, I realized that these feet probably provide too little surface and will dig into our hardwood floor and make the stand difficult to move for accessing the rear panel or for cleaning. (At least this is the case if you are placing this stand in a corner). Even without TV on top, the stand was difficult to move with the provided feet. I decided to replace the five feet with 1" felt padded feet by Feltgard #9908 from the Home Depot. These let the unit easily slide on a hardwood floor giving me easy access to the rear panel of the TV to connect/disconnect gear.

As others have stated, this stand fits the 82" Mits TV like a glove. Only a couple of things to be aware of. If you're using this with the 82" Mits, there isn't room on the top shelf for your center channel speaker. In my case, the center channel speaker would not fit on second shelf and would only fit on the bottom shelf if you put it in from the center (with the top 2 shelves removed). Not a big deal, but if you have a larger speaker you'll want to make sure you have a place for it. Also for assembly, there are a couple of screws that are different sizes, but look almost identical. Make sure you identify them before putting it together.

I bought this product from a company called Spin Keeper. I was really excited about moving my collection off of a bookshelf and into a nice, compact cabinet, safe from collecting dust from behind wooden doors.

Assembly was mostly easy, but very time consuming. For me, it took over nine hours working by myself. I ran into several hurdles. First of all, whoever counted parts for my cabinet was drunk. There are two magnets that each have two screws holding them to the cabinet and four smaller screws to hold a metal plate to each door, but I only had three screws for the magnets and five small screws for the plates. Luckily, I had a similar screw lying around that I could use.

The instructions state that there are 40 nails, but the illustration in the instructions clearly show 48 nails being used, so if you follow the diagram exactly, you will come up short. The drunk gave me 43 nails, so I was able to slightly improvise.

At one point, the instructions tell you to use the SF612BL screws, but there are no such screws in the parts manifest. This is a minor complaint, since the screws you are actually supposed to use (SP816BL in the manifest) are bundled with the plates they screw down in a plastic bag.

The nut that is supposed to hold the lock in place can easily slip into a crooked position and become hard to tighten. In fact, it's easier to put it on crooked than it is to put it on straight. I tried to tighten the nut with my wrench, but it just turned the lock with it, sanding the hole down larger than it's supposed to be.

The most frustrating part of the construction for me was one of the shelves, which would drop all of my DVDs and tip over whenever I put enough on top of it. I had to wedge pieces of cardboard into the interlocking sections for the shelf to stay level.

After assembling the unit, I took a moment to admire the finished product. Despite being made out of mostly composite wood and a few plastic pieces, it is quite an attractive looking cabinet. But my problems were far from over.

The worst thing about this unit, the deal-breaker, is that there is clearly not enough depth to completely fill it with DVDs of variable width. See the photos I uploaded illustrating this point.

If all you have are standard-sized plastic DVD clamshells, then you should have no problems. If you're like me, like most people, your collection will have various kinds of DVD cases. Let's do some math. From the rear of the cabinet to the door, it measures almost 11¼". A standard clamshell DVD case measures just over 5¼" in width. Side by side, there is still about three quarters of an inch of space between. My box sets of Buffy The Vampire Slayer measure 5 5/8". The widest box sets in my collection (James Bond movie set and Band of Brothers) measure 5 7/8". Any combination of these slightly wider sets will either cause you to press your hand against the door for it to shut against the magnet or prevent the doors from closing entirely. You could organize your collection in an odd order that prevents the wider sets from facing each other from the door shelves, but that's a game of Tetris no one wants to play.

This would be a beautiful storage cabinet if all you wanted to store was DVDs, CDs, blu-rays, VHS tapes or games for Wii, Xbox 360 or PS3, all in standard-sized cases, but one size most definitely does not fit all. If only it had one extra inch of depth.

I ordered this on May 24 and received it on May 29 talk about fast service! I was pleased to find that all the parts were shipped too WOW, what a novelty. I'd seen other reviews on another site and was concerned that it was difficult to assemble. It took us about 7 hours, but part of that time was drying time to fix a mistake we made. My husband didn't trust the quality of the wood glue provided, he said it looked like Elmers, so he used his personal choice instead.

When assembling the cabinet, pay VERY CLOSE attention to the illustrations the raw sides and finished sides are not well illustrated and we ended up putting the right side on the left and visa-versa. This mistake gave us raw edges where finished edges should have been oops! Since we used wood glue in the wood dowels, as per instructed, we messed up some parts of the wood and had to repair them. No problem it's fine now.

The bottom supports (parts M) are indented, but the instruction shows them as being even with the front and back edges of the bottom (part B). If you match the placement of the angle brackets with the holes provided, you'll get them in the right place. When you put the sides in place, the supports will align with the wood dowel holes just fine.

The one fault I found was that the wood colors aren't consistent. I realize it's hard to stain the MDF the same color as the oak laminant on the doors and top, but I don't care for the redish oak color of the MDF on the rest of the cabinet. Just received this and put it together that same day. It took about 6 hours to put together, but I took lots of breaks. This is a very heavy unit and it was a lot taller than I thought it would be, it is over 3 feet tall. It has loads of storage and seems to be very useful. Not too sure I like the top load though, because I was planning on putting a lamp on top and now I can't because it opens from the top, but I guess that means less clutter also. I think this is a really nice piece and others are really interested in getting this same piece for their houses. Not enough glue was included in this set and I used the wrong glue for the wrong pieces, but it wasn't a problem. I recommend getting some extra crazy glue to finish up this piece.

This works great for storing all of my movies, cds and video games. The quality is pretty good for assemble it yourself furniture. It did take a while to assemble though I assembled it in about 2 and a half hours but it turned out well. I looked at furniture stores local to me and didn't see anything at all like this I do like it overall.

Took me about two minutes to put this together, and I'm a perfectionist about assembling things. Rack is pretty sturdy. It's one of those things that you won't miss until you have had one. It makes my room look so much tidier than when I used to line my shoes up against my wall. Holds about four pairs of shoes on each shelf, five if you have small shoes or stack one pair on top of each other. With sneakers, I can't see someone getting five pairs in across a shelf.
