HON 510 Series Drawer Full-Suspension Letter File

I have purchased and used a lot of HON file cabinets both vertical and horizontal and considered them top of the line file cabinets. December 31, 2009 I ordered a new cabinet to be used in my home. I shopped around and the Amazon price of $191.58 with free delivery was great.

However, when the file cabinet was delivered, I inspected it and was disappointed with the quality control. A seam on top is open rather than closed the way it would typically be. When I opened a drawer, a spring was laying on the bottom of the drawer and at this point I don't know where it belongs. Hopefully, it is an extra spring an employee dropped during assembly.

The drawers open and close and latch shut just fine. There are no complaints from a functional standpoint.

This is when you wish this was an item that could easily be sent back. Since this is not the case, I am going to keep this file cabinet but am disappointed with the quality control. This cabinet is not up to the standards I expect of HON cabinets.

The third drawer has a very noticeable dent on the front. The packaging box also has a hole where the dent is. My guess is that something punched a hole through the box and it hit directly onto the front of the filing cabinet. If the packaging was sufficient in the front of the box, it would have protected the item. A piece of foam on the front would have prevent some of this damage. There is also a scratch on the paint near the dent.

One of the filing cabinet door is also impossibly hard to open and close. It is so tight that it scratches against the bottom of the opening. I have to slam the door extremely hard so the lock catches. Additionally, I have to shake the handle back and forth just to get the cabinet door to open.

Great product. I loved that it was already assembled. I am sure this will last for a really long time and is strong and heavy-duty. I have had a cheapo file cabinet in the past that tipped over when files were in it, but that will definitely not happen with this cabinet. Totally worth the extra money for something that will last.

I normally love HON products and always go to them first when I need new furniture/file cabinets, so I was very disappointed to receive the file cabinet in poor condition. Opposite sides, front and back were dented. It looks out of alignment. I think it may have been dropped on the back corner. The box was fine shipping was 2 weeks late, so I wonder if they got a replacement box somehow. The good news thanks to HON quality it still works fine, including the locks. Hope it holds up to daily use. I would like to send it back, but cut open the box to get the file cabinet out. Will think twice before ordering equipment and furniture online again!

Create-a-Cart White Finish with Grey or Black Granite Top

This is a very nice piece. It's solid (meaning a good weight). Assembly will take a whole morning or afternoon. Took two of us about 3.5 hours (including some errors). Comes in two boxes and both are very heavy. Put down a tarp so that after Fedex leaves you can slide the boxes around without lifting.

Some tips:

1. Assemble the base first.

2. As you add the inside walls for the drawers, make certain the drawer rails are facing the correct way. We went by the picture and that was wrong. The wheels on the rails face the back of the unit. Trust me; we all discussed it, and then went with the picture then had to take it apart (which was fairly easy thank goodness).

3. The "F" bars were difficult to align with the back boards; but that may have been because we had those drawer rails facing the wrong way.

3. We suggest that you put on the towel and spice rack just before you are ready to put on the cross bars for the marble top. Makes tightening some of the screws easier.

4. One of our door hinges is defective/warped and makes the door pop open. Was going to ask the maker to send us new hinges, but instead we took the magnets from the bottom of one of our replacement Sonicare toothbrushes (the strongest little magnets you can find) and that keeps it shut.

Some measurements you may want to consider:

A. Inside drawers are small: 10 3/8" wide by 11 1/2" long. The small drawers are 3" deep and the bottom drawer is 8.5" deep.

B. The usable shelf space is 13" wide by 12" deep. One adjustable height shelf per cabinet. Would have liked one more.

We are happy with the piece. It is not deep not going to put a toaster or anything like that on it but it's a great workspace. We really like it. Would be 5 stars if they hadn't messed up that picture and given us a bad hinge. At the time of purchase we paid 441 dollars. At the time of this review the price has gone up significantly on Amazon you can find it at least 50 dollars cheaper elsewhere. Happy hunting.

Easy to put together. Like an easy puzzle. The pieces are readily marked and easy to check off when assessing what is received. The hardware for the drawers (the slides for the drawers and the hinges) already come assembled, so you are basically fitting the wood pieces together (though you do need to attach the wheels) which is easy and very well explained in the directions. If you're looking for additional counter space or kitchen storage space, this piece is an awesome add.

This item came in with two packages, one is the counter top, and the other is the rest of the cabinet. It's quite simple to put together as long as you have the power tool, you do need to pay attention to the details of each component in order to assemble it properly.

The items came in decent condition, I did have some parts that had scratch on them, but overall I am pretty satisfied.

The wheels have locks on them, I thought it's worth mentioning.

I would give it a five star if the instruction can be more clear or somehow mark the parts, so people can immediately tell which way is the right way for each part. Also, of course it would be perfect if there were no scratches at all to the parts.

I would put its value at half that amount. Also company won't ship to Alaska ... come on, fed-ex and UPS both ship ground ... it's really not that difficult nor expensive. Alaska is part of the continental US ... just not the contiguous!

Oh, how Americans can create great little junky products that work like a million! The set of 3 Heininger shelves are like heroin: You'll need more once you get the first box.

Installs on a wall like a normal, plastic shelf, or on pegboard, which is pretty smart, but best, turn 'em around and they drop dead-center between studs in the garage or anywhere that you have 16" to center studs for fast storage you'll be happy to have. One is a shelf, one is for screwdrivers, and one is for storage. They don't hold much weight (20 lbs, so don't, like, try to put 5 bags of flour on one shelf) but that ensures that your small stuff like a can of oil, WD-40, seeds, filters, baby food jars of screws or car cleaning sprays are safely within reach and easily found.

This is a simple product, at a fair price. It is made in the US, and it's reflected in the price and quality.

There are 3 shelves that attach to your wall, pegboard or between 16" on center studs.

One is a flat tray, one is a dished tray and the third has holes for holding small screwdrivers, spade bits, etc.

They are small, so they won't hold much. Mine are above my bench and hold small items I want to keep close by and not take drawer space.

Useful, simple, easy to install. An option to buy a large quantity at a discount would help the new garage owner.

We are using these for extra shelving at our automotive repair shop. First thing I noticed when I opened the box was that most of the nubs for hanging on a peg board were all bent and warped. Don't get me wrong, it is great that this item is made in the USA but the quality of construction could use some work. Since we hung the shelves flushed to to a wall, the nubs were not an issue. We "clipped" the nubs off so the back of the shelf would sit flush against the wall. They are handy. The tool holder is great for holding those often used screwdrivers. The standard flat shelf is used to hold lubricating cans and the four pocket shelf is great for holding nuts/bolts and O-rings. Each shelf can hold up to 20 pounds. They are extremely affordable, so if you can get past the deformed peg nubs you won't be disappointment with the shelves versatility.

I've just spent the morning starting the annual garage clean put and reorganization. I have a floor to ceiling pegboard on one wall and it was in desperate need of straightening out. I got these shelves thinking that they would be useful in some way.

First the pros:

Made in the USA (imagine that)

The Cons:

Almost too small to be useful in any way. I suppose if you purchased a bunch of them and lined them up together they may be a little more effective. If you are just starting out as a new homeowner and have a few little screws and tools to keep track of this would be OK for you. If you, like me have been a homeowner for 35 plus years than this isn't even a drop in the bucket.

The shelf part of the trio is really too narrow to put much on.

The divided part is great and I think it would be better to just have 3 of those than 1 of each.

The shelf with the holes for screwdrivers didn't work at all for my tools. They didn't stay in place neatly. I did manage to use those slots for a bunch of spade drill bits which display in nicely.

All in all depending on the kind of organizing you need to do, it might be better to get one of those pegboard units with the little drawers instead.

The GarageMate 3-pack shelving system includes a tray to hold your screw drivers and other tools, a tray to hold loose nuts/bolts or spray cans, and a flat tray to hold a variety of items.

The shelves are advertised to allow for easy mounting to walls and pegboards. It includes special prongs that clip onto a pegboard, or you can flip the tray around and insert them in-between wall studs on a garage wall (non-insulated of course) and fastened with screws or nails. Finally, it can be mounted onto flat walls via screws/nails as well.

Here are some issues with the shelves. I chose to install them in my non-insulated detached garage because I didn't really need such tacky looking shelves inside the house. Although tacky for a furnished house, they are rather sleek/modern for a workshop or garage. I quickly discovered that unless your wall studs were exactly the same width as the tray, you couldn't mount them flush against the studs. If you chose to mount them flush against the wall (with the tray hanging out), you have to break the peg board plastic hooks (not a big deal).

The trays don't hold a lot of materials, and the previous owner of my garage/house had nailed flat pieces of wood in-between the studs for holding tools and knick nacks, but these plastic trays just look more modern and clean.

Bottom line is that this shelving system is indeed easy to use, and you have 3 options of mounting them: pegboards, in-between studs, or flush against a wall. If you intend to fully outfit your garage, you will need a whole bunch of these. These do save a lot of space if you have a non-insulated wall to mount these trays.

Winsome Wood Bailey Leaning 5-Tier Shelving Unit, Black

We just purchased our third of these (there are over 350 books in our home). Every time we have ordered one, it has come well packed in layers of Styrofoam and has been simple to put together. The shelves are quite sturdy, each of our three holds at least 100 books of varying sizes.

The only problem with these shelves is that they leave marks on the wall if you have to move/straighten them. This usually only happens when first putting up the shelves and initially positioning them, as they stay in place quite well when set up and full of books.

Also, Amazon tends to put these shelves on sale every so often, so you can usually pick one up for under $65 with shipping included, if you wait for the right time.

I wanted a leaning bookshelf, and did a little research on various ones. I chose this one, over the cheapest one on Amazon (I think around $45) because a couple of reviewers said that it was sturdy enough to hold a lot of books, and that is what I wanted to use it for. Overall, I am happy with it. I just have a few comments about the piece, itself for people who are a little hesitant to buy furniture online.

It is easy to put together. It comes in 9 pieces (5 shelves, 2 sides, and a top and bottom). The painted finish seems a little thin on the parts of the shelf you wouldn't see (ie the bottom). The directions have an inventory and assembly section. In the inventory section they clearly show that the top and bottom of he sides are different (top is straight and bottom is angled), but in the assembly directions they look the same. The result is it took me a few minutes to figure out which end I was actually supposed to start on. The shelves are screwed in very securely. It is not just a screw into wood, but there is a metal reinforcement around the hole. BUT the bottom and tops are loose. I ended up putting a few dabs of wood glue on them (which means I can't disassemble this), and letting it cure overnight. It is almost like the holes are too large in the top and bottom or the wood dowels are too short. The upper shelf cannot really hold books, because it is so shallow. You could put paperbacks on it, but they would hang over a little. The bottom shelf is the opposite. It is so deep. I had to rummage through my books to find a couple that I could put on the ends that would not fall out of the sides onto the wall or floor.

I have a lot of books, that vary in size and weight, and the shelf handled all of them beautifully. A good alternative to a more expensive version of this shelf. And a smarter design than the cheapest version. The edging around each shelf keeps your books on the shelf, and prevents your wall from getting scratched up each time you add or remove a book.

I also had no problems with scratching the wall when I placed it (one reviewer claimed this). Also, the sides are each one long piece of wood not broken in two (another review claimed this).

I purchased this shelf from AtHomeMart, and am extremely happy with the product. It arrived well packaged (almost over kill on the Styrofoam if you ask me...) and went together amazingly easy. I put it together by myself in maybe twenty minutes, I didn't even need to look at the instructions!

There are only two things I can say that are the least bit negative about this product... One, I'm very sad it didn't come in an espresso finish, none of my other furniture is black. And two, I was not aware that the height of the shelf would be in two pieces. This is really not noticeable, it just was not what I was expecting. I was expecting the side pieces to be one solid long piece, but they are actually two smaller pieces you set together. Once together, they are very secure and the seam isn't terribly noticeable.

All in all, I think this is a wonderful shelf. It looks great in my living room, is very sturdy, and (I feel) very well constructed. I would definitely recommend this product, especially for the price.

These shelves are lovely, spacious, and easy to assemble, even with only one person. The only reason I am giving them four stars instead of five is a design/cost-cutting issue. Each shelf is held to each side post by a long screw, which does most of the fastening, and two dowels which run between the posts and the shelves on either side of the screw, for stability and weight bearing. The dowels are flimsy pressboard -I broke two of them during the assembly process, just moving the shelving to attach the other side. Would it really have been too expensive or difficult to make them of the same beautiful wood that the shelving is made of, or better yet, metal? There isn't even a measurement given on the instructions to let me know what size dowel they are, so that I can procure metal ones to replace them. Other than this issue, I'm very happy with the look of the shelves, and I'm sure my books are similarly happy to be freed of their moving boxes.

From the garage: This may be the very best product that I hate .... imaginative concept that works very, very well ... until ... the simplest part of the engineering fails and leaves you high-and-dry. I ordered 5 of these racks and although they seemed awfully "rickety" after snapping them together we placed them into our kitchen cabinet and proceeded to put some stuff on the shelves. After only two bags of powdered sugar the whole thing collapsed! I took a photo and had hope to upload it for nothing other than the humor value but I don't see an option to upload a photo. In any case please save your money and the hassle, if you are planning to stack these things buy something much more stable. I can't even recommend one of them because the way the side supports attach to the base there is no way it can hold much weight. Very poor design.

This is a very good quality, solid wood bookshelf. Even the backing is thin, solid wood--not cardboard or particle board. It must be 100% pine or some sort of light wood. This is VERY sturdy and has rounded edges (no sharp corners or edges). It is perfect for small children and is classroom-quality. This is a very well-made product. It was fairly easy and fast to assemble. I will definitely be purchasing furniture made by this company again.

The only flaws are the wording on the bottom front and the screws. I had to customize it and build it backwards to keep the words on the back so that in my home we do not have to look at advertising. Also I had to get a man's brute strength to srew the screws in all the way. Even he bulked at it and was looking for some extra help in the toolbox.

Otherwise it is the beautiful, low and long birch shelf I knew it would be. It serves it's purpose well.

Make sure you check measurements before you order because it would be a shame to send it back and it would be too heavy to send back. Be smart and you will be happy too.

This was well worth the price I paid for it. It is the perfect size for the kinders to access in the classroom.

Euro Floating Wall Shelf

This is a very sleek photo shelf. I looked around a lot and very few have such nice lines and come in sizes of 4 feet. It also has a groove in it for photo frames.

You have to be very careful with it as the paint job for the black one is minimal and you can easily mark it up.

Installation is easy enough, but you have to really get the mounting screws at the correct position so the shelf does not sag.

HTC PBR-001 Portamate Wood Storage Rack

I mounted this into 2x6 studs with 5" lags and it is very solid. I did a pull up on the bottom rung without it moving (not recommended).

Note that the package does not come with wall mounting hardware (except for the spacers that go between the black bar and the wall). Make sure you buy the right hardware for the type of wall you are installing on. You will need 6 lags or anchors 1/4" thick.

It is a great lumber rack!easy to install and holds alot of lumber.i am thinking about adding a couple more to my shop

I bought one of these about 6 months ago and like it so much that I picked up a second. They are nice and sturdy, easy to assemble and mount and look good.

This rack was easy to install and for its size has a great deal of capacity. I installed it and immediately loaded it up with several hundred points of lumber.

Furniture was packaged very well, but top front of stand still had chips from shipping. The entire thing isn't hardwood. The two main pieces and doors are hardwood, but the other pieces are partical board. Would have liked a little better quality for the price, but overall a good purchase an the stand looks great.

Excellent quality for the money. Instructions have three places where they do not tell you to use certain screws to

put the stand together. I would suggest you read through and look at the pictures and pull out the screws and check

over with the instructions including the pictures before putting this together. Back panels have to go in with the small

holes at the top of the stand. The beveled glass is a wonderful touch. If purchasing to put stereo equipment inside

please measure your equipment, with lines sticking out the back because we could not get ours to fit inside the side

doors on either side of the glass. But we're keeping the piece and very, very happy with the purchase. Cherry color

is right on target and it looks like an expensive piece of furniture. We shopped stores locally and they same item was

in the$600 to $700 range. And this looks and feels better than those.

I'm 31 & a mother of 4 small children...this tv stand is perfect! Its sturdy & looks beautiful. I put together all by myself, which not my thing. It was kind of frustrating at first b/c the 1st step requires more than 2 hands.

This TV Stand went together easily. The directions could have been a little more detailed but still made sense. The quality of the packaging was second to none. I never saw a a product that was shipped to me triple boxed with plenty of foam to protect the contents. The TV stand looks great. The doors do fit a little tight, but will see what the winter brings. And just one word of caution, when putting the doors on be sure to get them into the correct holes on the first try. I got one stuck in another hole on the underside of the door frame and took a special dentist type tool to get it back out. Overall a great purchase.

New Set of 2 Ikea Gorm Shelving Units Soft Wood , Multi-use

I have the 3-section version of Gorm, which uses 2 single-section shelf units joined by another set of shelf pieces in between. In this configuration, there are 48 screws. Of the 48, four split the wood of the shelf pieces. I used these for my son's toys, which are not heavy, so I accepted this flaw, but I would not load up these shelves with anything heavier.

Holes are pre-drilled, but they're not precisely located in the place that they should be. I wonder if this contributed to the splitting problem.

Assembly by one person is tricky, especially in the 3-section version. The one-section version, as seen in this product offering, would be easy enough.

I would also say that these shelves definitely need front-to-back stabilization, and there is none provided. The included "x"-braces in the back are for lateral stabilization and are called Observator (five dollars for each "x" at i k e a). I'll be buying 2 extra sets of these and fastening them to each side.

I don't recommend these shelves. There are cheaper steel or metal shelves at your local big-box hardware/home store. You won't get the same square-footage of storage per dollar, but you won't face the problems with splitting of wood.

These are good shelf brackets as long as you do not plan to use too much on the shelf. I would say you are probably safe with 50 lbs when using 2 brackets.

I wanted a cup holder for my counter because I have so many glasses in my cabinets. This one works well and looks okay with cups on it. It looks kind of cheap when no cup are on it. But for the money, I think it was a good buy. I think I'm going to spray paint it red or white to go more with my kitchen.

Hanging Wine Glass Rack

I purchased this wine glass rack hoping it would hold our Riedel Vinum XL glasses but it cannot accommodate the glasses due to their size. When hung side by side the glasses touch one another which is undesirable for me.

Also, because of the unnecessary hing that allow this rack to fold in half there is a lot of wasted space. Between the two middle glasses there is an unequal space compared to the other holes. This also creates a problem because the hing creates a bowing effect when the rack is hung. Basically the hing allows the rack to go too far so if you kept this you'd have to find a way to stop the hing from allowing this. I didn't get that far because the glasses didn't fit well.

An additional design flaw (in my opinion) is that the wholes on either end of the rack are not in line with the rest of the rack. This offsets the end glasses compared to the four rows in the center which I didn't care for.

The actual wood an finish our nice enough.

So, if you don't have enormous wine glasses, you don't mind a little wasted space, you're fine figuring out a way to prevent this rack from bowing, and you don't mind if your glasses on the ends are a little misaligned this may be a suitable glass rack for you.

Frankly this was almost a perfect solution for me but I may be stuck making what Wine Enthusiast should have created in the first place.

Nice unit but my glasses do not fit. Check the pictures. Look how skinny the stems are.

This is for my bar. Very aggravated because this happened to me before. I get all ready and my glasses did not fit.....
