Double TV Top Shelf

We bought a combo TV (TV/VCR/DVD) for the bedroom and needed a place to put our Tivo unit. The TV has a large footprint, but not much flat space on top. I looked and looked for a simple shelf to put on top to hold the Tivo unit, but amazingly couldn't find much. This shelf does the job perfectly. There's also a second shelf to put dvd's, videos, etc. One nice feature is the double sided adhesive they put on all four legs, so the shelf doesn't slide around and fall off the TV.

The shelf itself is ok looking. What I did not take into consideration was that the back feet that support and level the shelf on the back of my TV were about 4 inches to short to work on my TV. The feet only extend about three & ahalf inches screwed totally out. If I were concidering purchasing the shelf I would concider that before buying the item.

According to the product description it will fit TVs 13" and higher, but would not fit our 27" TV. The back support legs of the shelf are too short and very clumsy. The product description should also say that the shelf has to be attached to the TV with stickers to be stable. I expected the back legs to make it stable. The shelfs are very thin plastic, quite a cheap design. Did not work at all, but I am mostly upset about the product misrepresentation that it will fit all TVs 13" and higher.

I also had a difficult time with the company returning the item. I had to call twice just for a return label, and 6 weeks later they still have not refunded the price.

When I recieved the shelf it did not have the poles in the box to attach the top shelf. I emailed the company and did not recieve any response back from them. I had to use just the bottom shelf. I WILL NOT order anything else from these people,because they will not stand behind their products!

This shelf is flimsy, unstable and certainly not something you would want to trust any expensive electronic equipment on. Look for something else. This is a lemon.

These train shelves are very well made, large and durable. The colors are beautiful and my 5 year old son loves them.

i have two young boys and they love trains i have them hanging on the wall in thier room and i keep all of their favorite books on them for story time they love them

I was hesitant to buy these but really wanted some shelving to "dress up" my son's playroom. They are great quality and fun, very eye-popping! I looked everywhere I could for the engine to complete the set but was unsuccessful. Still worth the money, highly recommended. There isn't a lot of space on these though so beware if that's what you're looking for.

Guidecraft 4-Sided Library Wood Bookcase

I've search long and hard for just the right bookshelf for our kids. I definitely wanted something that had a display case so the kids could actually see the books and not just the spines. But display cases alone take up a lot of space and don't store as much as ordinary bookshelves. This provided the perfect solution. My next dilemma was deciding between this one from GuideCraft and a very similar one from Jonti-Craft. I made my decision on the fact that this one has 3 shelves instead of 4. The 4 FIXED display shelves would limit which books I could display. In other words, I wouldn't be able to display large books if I wanted to. When I received the library and assembled it, I was extremely pleased with my choice. It is very strong and sturdy, good quality stuff. It will last us very long and the kids won't "outgrow" it (can be used into adult years). As much as I like it, there is one thing I feel would have made it absolutely perfect. That is if they would have made it to sit on a turntable of some sort so it could rotate perfectly without moving the entire base. Although the wheels work fine, you have to rotate the entire library, which isn't a smooth circular motion. Hope I explained that ok. If it wasn't for that, I would have given it 5 stars.

A very well-built and solid product. The pieces are well-sanded and smooth. We are using it in our living room. Only complaint is that the wheels are really cheap, never allowed the unit to rotate well, and collapsed after a few months because we put a lot of heavy books in it. We replaced the wheels with silicone skateboard wheels and now it looks and works really well.

The bookcase is sturdy and durable. It holds many books and its design makes it easy to access books from all sides. I especially like that there are sides to display your child's "favorite" books. It is a great piece and well worth the price.

The only thing I would caution someone about is the large footprint of this item. You can't place it too close to a wall without blocking access to some of the shelves. As long as you have the space for it though, this unit stores tons of books and toys and is very sturdy.

This book shelf looks amazing! Yes it is big, but I love it! The wheels did not work for us since the floor we put the book shelf was a playmat material so I purchased a lazy susan bracket and screwed it under the book shelf and it spins around beautifully! I recently bought this multipurpose closet kit because it said it had deep shelving (16") and I must say, it was a great purchase. The closet kit was really easy to install. Once I put up the track and the vertical supports, it was as simple as putting in the brackets and snapping in the shelves. The shelves gave me plenty of room to store my winter clothes and there was plenty of hanging space for all of my clothes. The system seems really durable and looks great which is an added bonus.

Design is worse than Closetmaid, more on a cheap side.

Chipped paint and unpainted areas on some pieces; not enough vinyl tips to account for all 4 supplied shelves.

Although it's advertised for use in a closet, I put two sets of these up in a small multi-purpose craft room. Since I live alone and am arthritic it was great to have such an easy installation... you really only need two hands. I wanted deep shelves to hold lots of supplies, boxed tools (like Dremels) and even sewing machines while not in use. Since the bar in the front allows for hangers, I've used traditional pant hangers to store bulk fabrics but the front bar also serves to hold "s-hooks" for easy access to quilting templates and other long items that won't fit in a drawer. Under shelves that I hung high (for "dead storage"), I hung pegboard for other tool/supply storage. Since the shelves are wire, the aren't heavy in their look or heavy to handle so my small room is not claustrophobic. I had NO issues with quality. The hardest part was positioning the shelves on the brackets which just takes a few minutes of manipulating but they lock in tightly. All-in-all, I'm very pleased.

I got 3 of these to make the most of my small closet spaces. While I love that this kit has the 16in deep shelves, the included short upright in each was useless to me and the 'long' uprights still left length to be desired. Of course, I wanted to have things stored right up to the ceiling (standard height) and still have shelves near the floor. If you're going for a look more like the picture, then this kit will be perfect. I was able to add generic uprights from Menards that were much longer (not without some difficultythis kit can work with other pieces but requires some extra planning & skill). I would buy againbut only at a great discount since I would want longer uprights.

This kit went in to the back bedroom that might be used as one someday.... But till then it will be for storage. Make sure you find your wall studs but other than that it was not that hard to install and seeing as how my wall was not straight it was still able to be installed. I think it is best for kid's rooms or guest rooms maybe even laundry room. For a master bedroom ill look in to something a bit more.

The attached drawer is able to be moved from one end to the other (a great idea) and this flexibility helps when the situation in my organizing changes. The side rails are another great idea and lets me keep legal pads or folders close at hand. Overall, this is a well thought out design and the price doesn't make you grimace.

Shipping was FAST, well packed and the shelf itself is very well made. It takes up very little real estate on my desk and I love the side file holders! The little drawer slides side-to-side easily and pulls out easily and it has a bigger capacity than I thought it would have very nice! The back of the shelf is high enough to support the things I have on it and the shelf itself is high enough to not waste my little bit of desk space I have under the shelf. I bought a little fluorescent strip lamp (about 12" long) and mounted it under the shelf to light my work space. My husband just made a tiny hole in 2 spots and riveted the holders in place. This shelf hides the huge stand mixer that I love, but do not love sitting on my countertop. With the pull of two levers, it lifts very, very easily and smoothly up to countertop height and locks with a audible clank so that you know it is secure. Pull the two levers again and it lowers into your cabinet in a very controlled fashion.

It loses a star because the setup was very difficult for my husband and the carpenter working on our kitchen remodel. It took them three hours to figure out how to install this. Of course it was almost midnight when they started so being a bit exhausted may have contributed to their difficulties.

The mechanism requires a bit of cabinetry space. We mounted the hardware onto a store bought cutting board (you must supply your own shelf-this kit is only the mechanism) and had to trim it to approx. 15" for an 18" door opening. So both sides need about 1.5" of clearance for the hardware. This was installed in a base cabinet without a drawer. I don't know if it would work on a cabinet that had a drawer at the top. We put a sliding shelf under it and there should be just enough height to stack a couple of mixing bowls. I would look very carefully at your measurements first.

I'm extremely pleased with this very heavy-duty, smoothly operating mechanism. The assembly was problematic and it does eat a bit of cabintry space. But of course you recoup countertop space so it depends which is more valuable in your household.

This is a good product, and makes it possible to get those big mixers and food processors off the counter. The appliance lift is a rather big mechanism, but it works smoothly without the need for superior strength. It will, however, take up more room than you think. We were worried that it might be wobbily, especially when holding a heavy mixer. But it seems to be remarkably stable and does not move from side to side when using. It has worked for us.

Lift is sturdy enough but allows quite a bit of side to side movement. This is not a limiting factor just an annoyance. In my opinion it is somewhat over priced.

This product is a very heavy duty mixer shelf. My husband actually installed it in a cabinet that had a drawer over the door. If you are going to do this, make sure you measure carefully as the mixer shelf will take up the entire lower cabinet--from top to bottom. You need to allow room for the height of the mixer and for the fact that the mechanism swings all the way to the bottom of the cabinet. If you install in a cabinet with a drawer over it, please consider that the shelf for the mixer will not come up to the height of the counter top, but it will be approximately 4-5 inches below the counter top. I have a large 6-quart Kitchen Aid mixer which is quite tall and I am only 5'1" tall, so it works perfectly for me. It is actually at a more workable level for me than when it was sitting on the counter top. We found that installing it with this set up meant that the mixer would have to sit parallel to the counter due to the height restriction of having a drawer over the cabinet. The instructions were excellent and my husband said they were easy to follow. It does take a long time to install because you'll need to do a lot of precise measuring. My cabinets are white and we used a 3/4" thick x 15 3/4" deep piece of white prefinished shelving from Home Depot and my husband cut it approximately 20 1/2" long and left the 15 3/4" side uncut. The shelving works great because it is the recommended 3/4" thick and is finished on three sides. He placed a 2" high piece on the 15 3/4" backside as a 'backsplash' so that I can store attachments there and they won't slip off the shelf and end up in the back of the cabinet. The delivery was so quick we couldn't believe it. This device will be a God-send for me and I look forward to never again having to lift that heavy mixer from my cabinet.

I purchased this device to lift a Kitchen Aid 6 qt mixer and a juicer. The cabinet is 20 inches wide and 23 inches deep. I ended up with a shelf for the mixer that was 15 1/2 in. wide by 21 in. deep. This was more than the instructions would have given me. I did several things to maximize the storage space.

First, I attached a board to the side of my workbench to simulate the side of the cabinet. I used masking tape to sketch the depth of the slab overhang, the slab thickness and the cabinet top thickness. I mounted one of the side mechanisms to the workbench board and kept adjusting its location so the shelf would provide internal clearance as well as come out and be just a little above parallel with the countertop when extended. The top surface of my workbench simulated the top of my countertop slab. This took a little trial and error, but it certainly was easier than trying to do this inside the cabinet. When satisfied, I made a carboard template of where the side mounting plate was located in relation the cabinet front and top. Then it was simply a matter of attaching the template to the cabinet and drilling some holes.

Some things to keep in mind:

1. My cabinet door hinges interfered with mechanism, so I had to add an additional 3/4' block to that side. I also removed the soft-closing device from one of the hinges and remounted it out of the way. This regained 1/2" more shelf width.

2. When I had the two side mechanisms on my workbench I should have adjusted the spring attachment bolt to the highest range. It is much easier to do this before you install the mechanism in the cabinet!!!

3. Keep in mind that the mechanism, when retracting, is at it lowest point as it enters the cabinet, then rises slightly when finally stowed. This could interfere with anything stowed below it. In my case, about 2/3 of the vertical interior cabinet space was used by this device.

Finally, let me say that this is one rugged and well made mechanism. I'm sure I could put at least 60 lbs on it and have it rotate out to cabinet height with little assistance. Just do what you can to understand its motion before you try to install it.

I thought the assembly required for this wine rack would be no big deal, and its really not. However, the screws don't all fit and it is slightly wobbly. I had no trouble with normal size wine bottles fitting. It does look nice, as long as you don't bump it too much.

The wine rack comes with some minor assembly required. Not a big deal, right? Guess again. I put every ounce of strength into trying to get the bolts to screw into the threaded holes to no avail. They got about half way in and then they would move no more. With the rest of the unit assembled, this caused a heavy wobble. I returned the product for another, which was even worse. This second time I got out some heavy duty pliers to try and force it, still no movement. I gave up and requested a refund.

Long story short, this item is not worth your money.

As other reviewers have noted, the quality control is not so good and results in difficulty in assembly, stripped screws, and/or a wobbly final product. I was able to resolve this with mine (and I bought it with this possibility in mind) if you have a few tools, you can make this work for you, in which case its a good purchase.

In my case, the screw holes were not aligned with the center of the rods, thus making it impossible to attach the screws. All that was needed was a drill with a 3/16th bit, and I was able to widen the holes slightly to handle the misalignment, and get them attached. I used some loctite on the screws, and able to attach them without stripping out the head or the threads, and it feels pretty solid to me.

I received my wine rack today and i put it together in 5 mins. I only had a problem with one of the screws not going in ALL the way but its seriously no big deal.

Several people have complained that it only holds 6 bottles, but really the 7th bottle goes all the way on top of the wine rack. You cant tell frm the picture, but the 7th bottle fits perfectly on top.

I love my new wine rack! for me its sturdy and it looks beautiful on my kitchen counter. The quality of the rack is great for the price I paid ($16.99). I had been debating wether to buy it for several months because of the bad reviews, but im glad i finally did.

Rubbermaid 5G73 FastTrack 47-1/2 Inch Upright

Rubbermaid recently updated its FastTrack products with a new design.

The old 47.5" upright "with gripper" as pictured and described on Amazon came with two separate pieces: a gripper, and an upright that connects to it.

The newer product (not pictured or described) that Amazon actually ships is a 47.5" upright without a gripper that is moulded to snap onto the FastTrack rail.

If you are ordering this product to match with older shelving uprights or because you would like to attach the gripper to a shorter upright you should NOT purchase this product as it is not what you will receive.

The picture is NOT what you receive ... buyer beware that what you receive is not what is pictured and is not compatible with the rails that are pictured. I bought this to match an existing set of fasttrack rails (what is pictured) and these are different. Essentially they are the same rails but without the clasp which snaps onto the track ... hence they do not match (lengths and holes will not be the same distance from the track, and hence the shelf would not be level) and cannot be used ... Amazon, shame on you for not fixing this issue (already described last year by another purchaser).

We like these products to much, we now have an entire FastTrack system in our 3-car garage. The best feature is that you can very easily change things around (not the tracks, but all of the hanging pieces). The uprights are an expensive way to hang shelves, but they are strong and they are not permanent, so you can adjust the location of your shelving. You can't beat the convenience the uprights themselves require no assembly or installation. You simply hang them from a FastTrack track. You will also need to buy a track, brackets, and wire shelving, though, and this can add up very quickly. The only store in our area that has a decent stock of FastTrack pieces is WalMart, but they have nowhere near the number of options as Amazon. Lowes and the Home Depot offer only a handful of the FastTrack hooks and the track. One caveat about the uprights: if your garage is unfinished (as ours is), you will need to hang the uprights on the studs, or they will not be stable. Of course, if you have sheetrocked walls, this will not be an issue. Bottom line the uprights are a well made product that can help you organize your garage almost overnight. We did!

As others have pointed out, the uprights as described no longer exist. The newly (IMHO inferior) designed uprights do not have the "grippers" and do not "snap tightly to the rail". In fact, the newly designed uprights just hook over the top of the rail and are free to swing back and forth. In order to secure them, Rubbermaid advises that they be attached to the wall using the included screws and drywall anchors. In some installations, they recommend that they be screwed directly to the wall studs. Once installed, they become permanent as any other wall mounted shelving system. In essence, the top rail serves no purpose, other than to act as an expensive alignment jig. The flexibility of the FastTrack system is lost. You can obtain the same functionality and save substantial money, by purchasing ordinary dual shelf standards and brackets. Many companies manufacture these products, but for an example of what is available, check the following Amazon links:
