These shelves are very attractive. They look more expensive than they are. Assembly took about an hour.

For the purposes of full disclosure, I had some problems which customer service did a marvelous job of solving.

The bookcases are solid wood no particle board. The color was somewhat different than anticipated, but the color works.

The top of the bookcase has a shelf which extends beyond the sides of the bookcase. While this is clearly shown in every picture of the bookcase, I missed it. My four bookcases are side by side resulting in a gap of a couple of inches between bookcases.

The bookcases are solid and don't move. Because of the mission style, they are easy to move.

I don't have much to add to all the other 5-star reviews. This is good quality shelf, the back braces give it a lot of support so it's not wobbly or spindly. It's pretty, the beveled shelves were a nice touch that brings it above the average put-together furniture.

Instructions could have been a bit clearer, because it took some problem solving to figure out how the beveled edges should face (up or down), finally realized they were finished better on the top side (but not much, the whole thing is well finished).

And yes, the color is more orange than one would expect from Honey Oak. If they toned that down, it would be perfect.

Overall I have no complaints; just personal gripes. The shelf's demensions at its largest ponits are: 29.5x72x12, but the actual shelfs are: aprox 25.5x11-which left me wishing the shelfs were a little larger. The quality of the wood shelf is good, but I wish the wood was of a more denser type (I think it's pine). And I wish it had a built in wall anchoring attachment added to the rear of the Bookshelf-it is a bit tall. The shipping and packaging by the company is Outstanding! (A++ workmanship); and not one missing part! It is a good, sturdy shelf, but don't over tighten screws or you'll "stripe 'em". PS: no tools needed; everthing needed is shiped with it. About an hour to set up.

It has to lean against a wall to hold books but I like the look and the price. I am not sure it is safe enough around kids though since it's kind of shaky.

Packaging was good. Very easy for one person to assemble without instruction sheet in no more than a quarter-hour, although smaller people may have need to two persons to assemble it. Includes all screws (although no extras, so if you strip one, you're screwed); the screws are hex, and a small hex wrench is included, the only tool needed to assemble. Tubular anodised or powder coated steel construction, with perforated steel shelves.

The shelves bend a bit under load (I have it loaded with 40-55 lbs per shelf, about a dozen large hardcover textbooks and hardcover and leather-bound books of religion, per shelf, no paperbacks or at least not any paperbacks that weigh less than 3 lbs and anyone who has ever had a library full of texts on physics, chemistry, and Christianity can attest the books aren't octavo-sized miniatures: religious books and most textbooks are bound larger than life) but appear sturdy the fact that it's holding up under 200 lbs or more of books proves that. The contraption is quite sturdy for its low weight.

If you load it down with heavy books, you need to pack them from edge-to-edge to keep them from tipping, although this may be a problem of carpeting or uneven flooring, although I doubt it. The shelves hook over the tubular steel used to construct the cross-braces for the shelves, but are slightly (maybe three-quarters of an inch, or an inch half an inch per side) less wide than the frame, so if one puts a very thin book (many books of philosophy, etc.) towards the edge without pressure from the stack of books against the frame, it can fall through the small crack.

Overall, it's relatively large, relatively cheap, metal, and sturdy enough to hold scores of large, thick hardcover tomes of several pounds each, which most of the particle-board cases aren't, as they bend and eventually break under the weight, due to the nature of particle board. It's enough to hold ~70 textbook-sized A4 or 12 by 9 inch hardbacks arranged vertically, about ~100-110 trade paperbacks or mass market paperbacks of non-enormous length arranged vertically, and some ~150 paperbacks stacked horizontally, or double that (although I do not know if it could support the weight) if they're stacked two-deep.

Overall, I give a 8.5 out of ten, or four and one-quarter stars, and recommend it with some small reservations as mentioned above (mainly the books falling through the edges of the shelves if they're thin) but you're not going to find any shelf without those reservations until you get in to the solid-steel institutional-quality bookshelves in the $500+ range, or solid wood bookshelves that are very heavy and don't hold as many books in a similar price range.

Five stars out of five for the price, which for me was ~$75 with free shipping from Amazon.

I needed more bookshelves but didn't want any more heavy wooden ones. This is lightweight and has 5 shelves. It was really easy to put together. The shelves have a lip on both sides so they fit snugly over the bars that hold the shelves together. When it was complete, I took it upstairs nice to be able to carry it myself and started setting books on it. I completely filled it with books and there is no sign of it bending or being unstable. The shelves are 12" tall so taller books will easily fit. I like that it doesn't have a back, but does have a bar at each level so the books won't fall out. This attractive bookshelf gives an open feeling to my room. I would definitely buy this again.

Shelf was very easy to put together--no tools other than the supplied allen wrench required. It took me maybe 15 minutes to put it together. It's very strudy and was a great replacement for a wooden shelf I bought a few years ago which broke. Glad I went with the metal. The only complaint I have is the back support bars make it impossible to stack books on their backs without one jutting forward.

I ordered two of these shelving units for my loft and they arrived in one week. First, the boxes were not real bulky. The sender even wrapped extra bubble wrap around them. Second, I opened each box and each piece was wrapped in clear plastic. Everything was in each box, no missing parts. Third, the easiest way to assemble them is to screw in each bar first, only half way. Then snap the shelves in place. There is only a print out of the parts...no instructions. Then, after the shelf is standing with shelves in place, start to tighten each screw...but do not tighten it so hard as to strip it. Note: The extra bars are for extra support on the backside.

Legare 24-Inch Deep Shelf

I bought this separately to use underneath the Legare Peninsula. It houses my huge HP All-in-One Printer that was a major eyesore sitting on the desktop. $40+ seems like a lot to spend on a shelf, but the desktop space that it freed up is very worth it. I should also mention that the Legare system (including this shelf) has enough holes to string the cables/wires from the printer to the computer and keep them out of sight.

I use this with the 30" desk extension and it has done very well for me. It is deep enough to put a printer/scanner.

This is my third Salamander Archetype product. The previous ones I bought several years ago and although I was satisfied with the quality of the products the big draw back was the black paint on the bolts which caused severe binding when screwing on the shelf nuts.

The current versions have fixed the binding issue! Assembling the unit was easy! The only low points are that the finish on the shelves isn't as good as my previous ones (particularly the edges which are a bit rough) and that the unit didn't include the cap bolts which are flat. Included were just nuts which don't sit as flat to the top shelf surface as the cap bolts. Called Salamander and received the cap bolts within a week. Thanks Salamander.

I bought this table in Cherry to go with one I had gotten over five years ago. It is still a strong, sturdy table, flexible, and easy to assemble (even for a woman).

However, this table does not have the quality of the old one: it is not as fine grained as I would expect in cherry; it has more knots or pits; it is much lighter in color although I know it will darken; and there are more individual boards used to create a shelf. For now I have taken and put one of the shelves from the older table on the top of the new one to have them match, and am letting the new shelves darken in hopes they will eventually show less difference.

Easy to put together, looks good, it's solid. For the money, there is nothing better. Having another shelf might be nice, but 3 will get you by.

I have purchased and assembled literally dozens of similar items over the years. In terms of quality, this piece of junk rates at the bottom. The fastening hardware was flimsy, and pretty much made it impossible to properly assemble the bookcase. I tried everything, and I have quite an adequate selection of tools available, but there was no way that this unit was ever going to be satisfactory. So, I packed it back up and returned it.

A simple design and constructed product that looks good and is very sturdy. It fit perfectly where I needed it to go, which is why I chose it, and I've been very pleased with it.

Duck Smooth Top Easy Non-Adhesive Shelf Liner, White

I have these brand of liners on all of my shelves in my house. I love them. They stay put and are easy to clean. Another reviewer stated that he liked the liners as well but recommended purchasing them elsewhere such as Wal-Mart. I have to agree. Amazon charges about 50% more. I purchased my original liners from Amazon but this time I went to Duck brand's website and they recommended for online purchases to use MyBrands website who is their official authorized online dealer for their products. I ordered from MyBrands.com and, even with shipping, saved over 50% from Amazon's price. Note that I feel these liners are so good that even if I still had to pay Amazon's ridiculously high price, I would.

This shelf paper is very easy to install. It is slightly cushioned and lays flat, even in the corners. You can run your scissors along the tiny lines ingrained into the rubbery material so that your cuts are straight and not wavy. I did several cupboards in my kitchen in very little time. I bought this paper a couple of years ago and wanted to use it again but couldn't find it locally so I placed my order online. I would recommend it highly.

I loved this product. Unfortunately the tenants who lived at my place previously put contact paper down and I can't get the sticky off of all areas. As a solution I purchased this shelf liner. I lined all of my shelves and my drawers in the kitchen with it. It worked perfectly. The rubber on the bottom keeps the lining from sliding but it's nice and smooth on top so it's easy to take things in and out. I couldn't have asked for anything better.

This is the only shelf liner I will use! The bottom side grips the shelf, keeping the liner in place. The top side is smooth, so dishes or groceries can slide on it. Perfect! AND washable besides!

I'm very happy with this liner. They look really nice and durable, have a gripped bottom side and smooth top. I like the simple white color on that one, it looks clean without suspicion, and if it gets dirty I am confident that it will be extremely easy to wipe clean.

I wish they had a jumbo roll size, as they have for the other smaller liner (http://www.amazon.com/Duck-855145-Non-Adhesive-20-Square-12-Inch/dp/B0027P9516/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1359906207&sr=8-8&keywords=liner). The smaller 12 in width fits my smaller kitchen and bathroom cabinets. The larger 20 in width fits better some of my deeper cabinets.

The roll is 20 inch wide and 6 feet long (resulting in a area of 10 square feet), so if you need more than 6 feet, get more rolls.

Before buying on amazon, I checked home depot and target but they only had another brand which I didn't trust. The Walmart next to where I live didn't carry them either. I checked mybrands.com as advised by other reviewers, however they only let you buy each type of rolls in quantity of 2, and add shipping cost and taxes. Since I didn't need many rolls, it turns out that Amazon prime was cheaper for my needs, but if you need more rolls mybrands may be cheaper.

Also, the liner is kind of textured at the bottom which helps cutting them to size easily, but I still recommend to use a ruler if you can. Sometimes the lines of the texture are not exactly perpendicular to the roll side.

Would definitely buy again!

Bought a new 55" Samsung LED Flat Screen and mounted it on the wall with a bracket but I had no good place to put the companion cable box or any reasonable way to hide the ugly wires coming out of it. There were no adjacent shelves in the space where I had my TV. This good looking device solved the problem. It is very well made and all the metal pieces and parts are very precise, sturdy and well thought out. The glass shelf is great, directions were very clear. The shelf is 11 1/2 deep x 13 1/2 wide, plenty of room for cable box and any other components I may get in the future, but not so large to be a visual monstrosity. The wire managment channels were the frosting on the cake for me, allowing me to conceal wires coming out of the cable box and channel them up to the back of the TV where they are out of sight. I placed this shelf under the TV, on the wall. The black finsh and black shelf make it look like it is just part of the TV. Very clean look and very functional. Shelf height easily adjusts too after install. You have a range of positions you can lock into at any time. I looked for hours at different options for a cable box shelf but this hit all my requirements and is great quality at good price from a highly recognized manufacturer.

I ordered this stand to go into a small space in my living room. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the wood, I expected it to be cheaper looking, but this was well made and thick layers of real wood with a dark veneer, not chipboard. I have cherry furniture with a slight reddish tint and while this is dark veneer, it is not cherry tinted at all. The image online looks to be a close match to my furniture (at least on my computer), but it actually a mid level to dark walnut color. There is also some wood grain detailing that isn't too obvious in the images. One other note is that the holes for the cords are not optimally placed. I used the shelf for a DVD player and a Tivo Premiere box. These fit well, but there isn't a hole for these cords located near the shelf. I have the cords coming off the back of the boxes and cinched back and pulled into the center cord holding area. There is a hole under the tv, but it was also a bit low for my 42 inch tv and again I just pulled the cord back. We don't have anything of the bottom shelf yet, but it seems like that hole at least is placed well. The holes are quite large and you can see some cords hanging down through the holes. I am considering placing some kind of backing over the holes, but maybe I will just leave it, doesn't look that bad. This was easy to assemble, but would be difficult without two people.

Duck Cushioned Surface Non-Adhesive Solid Easy Shelf Liner 20-Inch Wide by 4-Feet Long

I needed a heavy shelf liner that was opaque. This product lays very well, cushions the surface, and is substantial. The only problems with it are the shipping (for some reason each roll always arrived individually encased in a box twice as wide and tall as necessary), cutting, and odor in enclosed spaces. The odor eventually dissipates; the cutting itself isn't difficult, but the tiny embedded grid lines are hard to see. I recommend making several marks to guide cutting. Also, if you don't need something this heavy or opaque and you want to be able to slide things in and out on the liner (this one isn't suited to that) see this Warp Brothers #PM210-C 24x10' Clear Ribbed Liner as an alternative.

I love this stuff. I have used it to make a nice-looking cover for our wooden coffee table, desk covers for our two wooden desks, and covers for our wooden nightstands. It is incredibly durable, easy to clean, and has withstood years of hard use. I like that fact that we can prevent damage to our wood furniture from dishes, food, or electronic equipment. It seems a bit pricey, but it is totally worth the money for how durable and versatile it is. I haven't as yet used it as a traditional shelf liner, but I'm sure it would be the best at that job, too.

Fit perfectly on top our tv console center that is now housing a Keurig machine. I wanted something to protect the surface and also absorb some of the minor sound/vibrations from the coffee machine during brewing.

This material works very nicely and now lines my rolling tool chest drawers. It's easy to cut and lasts for years. My last purchase of this material was 12 years ago. Very easy assembly, placing the brackets on the shelving unit took a few minutes to adjust properly. But all in all a nice addition for those who don't have a one of DVDs to store. I personally only collect what I consider to be MY classics.
