I purchased a new stove, and it does not have the space between the burners that the older stoves had. I really needed a small table to work on next to the stove. This cart was the perfect size. I ended up taking the wheels off and just putting rubber tips on the legs because I did not want the cart to move, and even with the locks on the wheels there was some jiggling. The cart is sturdy enough for my purposes. The top seems to be a laminate. I do treat it carefully. I put pot holders down under baking dishes when I take something out of the oven and put it out on the cart for "help yourself." It is easy to clean-the wire shelves do not accumulate dust. I did not want to spend a lot of money for what I was planning to use the cart for. It certainly was worth the price. No problem with assembly-it did not take very long. It is optional to apply the handle. It is a good extra towel rack in the kitchen.

This kitchen cart arrived earlier than expected and was just the right height for food preparation if you're standing up. Assembly was a breeze but note that you do need a screwdriver.

This cart is very sturdy. The wheels are large and solid. I would recommend it and would buy it again if I needed another cart.

This cart is exactly what I was hoping for. I have a space between the fridge and stove that was just big enough for this to fit. The top is solid wood, not laminate (at least the one I received), and is 2 inches above the stove's cooking surface, so quite tall. About hip height for me at 5'7" perfect work height. The casters on this thing are insane they look like something you'd find on a piano or some industrial equipment seriously heavy duty. Not those useless cheap plastic rollers like on some carts.

It took me 1 hour to assemble, including my shelf-height-dithering time. The cart does wiggle a tiny bit, but I would definitely not call it rickety. Very well made of sturdy-seeming components. I recommend.

Plus it was here in 2 days with free shipping. I've never even received a book that fast!

One note: when assembling, make sure the little plastic leg surrounds have the beveled edge UP, otherwise the shelves won't fit easily and well. I almost assembled it wrong and would have had to pound the pieces together. If it is assembled right, you shouldn't have to pound on anything. Hope that helps!

I am giving this item a rating of 3 because it is all wood except the drawer bottoms and the back. Every part of it must be assembled which took about 21/2 hours. There are some small marks on a few pieces, but hardly noticeable. I like the style and am keeping it. HOWEVER, I am giving Amazon a ZERO because it was an opened box but all the pieces were so supposed to be there. I began assembling it as I took the parts out of the box. When I got to the bottom, I realized that the top was missing. I called and called trying to get a top. I was not able to get it so I am having one made as I did not want to take it all apart again, wrap each piece and return it, as they suggested. Amazon did give me an additional discount, but they need to make sure all the parts are present when an item is advertised as an "open box".

Overall I like the look and quality of the item. The problem was that a few of the pieces were damaged either in shipping or prior to shipping. Also the other negative is that the instructions are set up is such a way that it is impossible to assemble the product if you follow them. You have to get a little creative during the assembly process to complete the buffet.

If it was not for the quality of the material and how nice the end product looks I would give this a much lower rating.

We needed a piece of furniture for a little storage space, cookbooks, and wine bottles. It couldn't be too deep because of the size of the room and the location of the dining table. This unit works perfectly. My husband was away when it arrived and I assembled the whole thing all by myself! That means it was really simple. It feels very sturdy and is quite a bargain compared to what we were able to find in brick and mortar stores. It arrived ahead of schedule in perfect condition. We definitely recommend this item.

This is a beautiful piece of furnature. Everything I expected. Was a ton of peices. And although it does not say it, you may need a power drill for parts. I followed the directions pretty closely, but at times you have to deviate. I put the base together alone, but needed help for the gtranite top. That is the hardest and heaviest part. Recommend two strong guys for that part.

This is a beautiful piece of furniture, which is not what you can typically say when you've got a "put together yourself" piece. :-) It's solid, well made and just gorgeous! The instructions were not very good, but we still got it figured out. I'd recommend it to anyone! It would be helpful to have two people put it together, though.

I am SO happy with this purchase. They look absolutely beautiful in my living room. I also love that there is a back on each shelf to prevent things from falling off the back. 5-Shelf ValueMate Economy Bookcase

First, this "Oak" bookcase is metal NOT wood in case you didn't read all the details. And rather flimsy metal at that. Some of it is bendable by hand and in fact I had to do so for several pieces in order to get things to fit together properly. Also the "Shelf Adjustablity: 1" increments" is a bit misleading. 3 of the shelves can be attached in 1" increments in a rather narrow 4" range, NOT for the entire bookcase and, once you attach them, you won't want to move them because it takes 4 screws and is a pain in the rearend to attach in the first place. Also, there is only one place to position the 2nd from the top shelf. That is about 26" from the top where there is a ledge from connecting the side panels together. That shelf just sits on the ledge and is not adjustable and is not screwed in. Be sure to attach the back panels before attaching the bottom and the rest of the shelves. You NEED the back panels to make the bookcase stable. Attaching the shelves is a REAL pain. Trying to align the holes properly wasn't easy and took quite awhile. I ended up having to use a mirror and flashlight in order to align and attach the front part of the shelves. Since you MUST attach the back panels before attaching the shelves, it's like working upside down and backwards trying to attache the front part of the shelves. Again, make sure you place the shelves where you need them because you won't want to try and reposition them later. I would also note that when screwing in the sheles there were 3 distinct feelings in doing so. At first, it they were a bit hard to screw, then it became very easy and finally it became a bit harder again until you couldn't turn the screw anymore.

Tool-wise they say you need a phillips screwdriver and a small hammer or mallet. I also needed a mirror and flashlight.

Overall, I would NOT recommend this bookcase, if for no other reason than that they are HARD to assemble. It looks OK fully assembled but still doesn't seem totally stable. They say, "Generous 12" deep shelves accommodate 3-ring binders and large publications." but I'm not sure yet if the shelves can really handle that load.
