GSC Tall Utility Cabinet

This item looked good and it was just what I was looking for my garage. When it arrived the tape was half way off the top of the box. When I opened the rather flimsy box this medium heavy item was in, several broken black plastic pieces fell out. They were from the very thin black support pieces that seemed to have been broken by the black plastic foot supports that were just loose in the box. I opened the other end and the black plastic was also broken, probably from being banged around while shipped.the sturdier white plastic parts appeared to be intact. I never took the item out of the box, as there was no point. I just re-taped it and returned it, very disappointed, as I had worked half to the day to get the spot ready where it was to be. Now I had a mess in my garage and no place to put the items in that I was planning to use this for!

In short, if the manufacturer had used a little firmer box and added some kind of foam or cardboard bumpers/supports at both ends and packed the loose items in foam then this could have been avoided.

When I got the replacement, a few weeks later, it was a repeat of the first shipment. I returned it also and canceled the order altogether. Two times with the same problem is one time too much for me. I feel the third time would have been just the same.

I chose the GSC Tall Utility Cabinet primarily because of its lockable doors, size, and price. If I need another item like this in the future, I will definitely consider spending more to acquire a higher quality product.

It's definitely easy to assemble (with no tools needed), but there are some issues with the parts fitting with precision. There's no "satisfying click" with many of the parts, and many of the satisfying clicks are accompanied by very unsatisfying bulges appearing in areas that previously clicked. Quite a few of the finishing parts are ever-so-slightly too big to fit cleanly in their slots; they are functional, but give the cabinet a very cheap look.

The worst aspect is definitely quality control. The box that it came in was in very good shape, with no dents or dings. The parts, however, were not. Both of the backing pieces (thin plastic) had several cracks in them, and both the top and bottom had one broken "foot." There are fortunately several extra shelf supports, because one of them was missing and three were melted.

Overall, the GSC Tall Utility Cabinet will serve my needs, but will require some alterations on my part to make it durable. If it were easier to disassemble, re-pack, and return it, I would.

Would I recommend it to a friend? If their primary concern was price, I would, but with hesitation. If they were more concerned with quality, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Melannco Black Square Shelves, Set of 3

The product was definitely over priced for the quality of the item. I found the same brand and model at Bed Bath Beyond for half the price and ended up sending back the original order. Even with shipping,etc. it was still cheaper.

I had been looking at these shelves for awhile and finally gave in and purchased them. I did like the fact that the product came with templates for each shelf for your wall layout and a tiny leveling device to ensure you were making them level. The shelves themselves seem very sturdy BUT when I took them out of the box EVERY SHELF was scratched in the front so I was pretty disappointed that I had the shelves that I liked but they were damaged when they arrived.

Overall they seem reasonable for the price, you could find these at a discount store like Ross and expect the scratches but I don't expect that from Amazon and do not feel like investing the time to do an exchange for a 20.00 item.

These shelves do a good job of filling up an empty white wall. They are a little small, but as long as you read the dimensions before ordering this shouldn't be a surprise. The only reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I had a hard time hanging them. I like that it came with hardware, but the pieces that were meant to anchor the screws in the wall don't fit very well; I ended up just skipping them and putting the screws directly in the wall (and I definitely should have used a stud-finder).

During assembly of the shelf the instructions were followed to a T. However upon the final hand screwing of the screws to secure the schedule to durability the wood on the shelf pieces has started to split. This is a birthday present for my daughter and disappointed in the quality of the shelfs but my daughter really wants to finish her room so she is accepting an inferior product.

This shelf is perfect in my lime green scrapbook room with pink & zebra print accents. The assembly instructions were less than adequate but the picture of the shelf really helps. Unusual mounting to the wall at top and bottom panels and even after measuring, remeasuring, and measuring again, somehome it didn't quite line up, but we made it work. My husband said he would have rather just screwed it directly into the wall without the mounting brackets, etc. The shelf looks GREAT!

I love these for my zebra bathroom, they are a great size, much larger then i thought. as for seeing black from eye level i took the brackets off of the back, turned them around, and hung them upside down, wahlah. all you see is zebra.

I don't regularly post reviews on here, but since I barely found any reviews for this product online (and had to rely solely on the description and picture), I figured this review might help someone else. :)

After hunting through TONS of stands online (300-400 on some of the "mega" sites) and looking for one that would fit nicely in a corner...this one topped my "top 10" list. And I'm glad I stuck with it!

The picture on here doesn't do it justice...it's a beautiful looking stand. The tempered dark glass is elegant...and the steel frame is built extremely well. You can't even tell it's metallic from far away, because it has a nice piano black gloss finish. It looks very slick in my family room and was easy to wire everything up (and set up was a breeze).

Plus, Amazon has the best price I could find anywhere (approx $50 cheaper here)...and with Amazon Prime...it was here the next day on my doorstep.

It's a beautiful, simple, open design. Get this and you won't be disappointed! :)

Stand was delivered very quickly, however the box was beat up and heavily damaged and the package came without any of the glass shelves!! One call to customer service rectified the problem, a new stand was sent (the box was also beat up) but all the pieces was present and intact. This product was exactly as advertised. I am generally not good at putting things together, but the illustrations were very clear and in a little more than an hour, I had a beautiful piece of furniture. The black steel and heavy tempered glass give it a sleek look that will fit any decor. One minor quibble: the top shelf is not attached, but is held in place by rubber stoppers. It is a heavy piece of glass and should not be a problem but be aware if you have little children or pets running around.

I recently received and assembled this audio/video stand. I selected it because of the steel construction and weight bearing capability. I was a little surprised at how heavy the package was. Inside the parts were well packed. The outside package had been damaged and torn, but the contents were well protected. I've had other wood/mdf stands in the past and their quality was often less than ideal. This stand is robust. It was simple to assemble. The back panel is a modestly opaque grill and does a decent job of hiding wiring and cables.

If there was any downside to this stand it would be that there is no adjustement in shelf height. But overall you'll be hard pressed to find a better built stand.

60" Wood TV Console with Mount

I really am enjoying my TV Console. It was exactly what I was looking for to mount my 52" flat screen TV on. The DVD/VHS storage area has no wasted space like most consoles do that you have to stack DVD's or VHS tapes behind the front row of them and can never see what they are unless you take all of the ones on the front out to read the labels on the back row. With the doors opening up as they do all of the titles can be read without going through the hassle of taking them out and having to put them back in every time your need one from the back.

The console is good and sturdy and I don't have any problems with the heavy TV being mounted on the frame and not being able to hold it up safetly, because the mount is good and sturdy.

The appearance of the unit is great and matches the decor of my room perfectly also.

The minor flaws are this;

#1) there should be a more sturdy way of securing the doors to the unit so that when you have the more weighty VHS tapes in the door itself, it doesn't cause the doors to sag. My right door won't stay up level, as it should because when I opened it up after putting all the VHS tapes that I had in it the hing or the screws wouldn't hold it in place and so it's a little off. I would suggest that if you buy this unit, DO NOT put VHS tapes on the door shelves, it can't handle the weight. I would suggest that you use those shelves for the light weight DVD's.

#2) The TV Mount pipe that attaches to the unit doesn't have any opened holes toward the bottom and top on the back to feed the wires and cables to the TV from the power amps, DVD players, console games etc. That would help to hide all the cords hanging from the TV to the back of the console. This problem can be remedied by buying some black zip ties and pulling the cords to the back of the mounting pipe where they will be out of sight and securing them to the pipe.

Overall I am very please with this console and still with the minor flaws mentioned would buy it again because it is better than anything else that I found on the market.

I absolutely love the console. Perfect for our 60" tv. My complaints are that it didn't come with bolts to mount the tv to it. Or at least I didn't receive them. Luckily, we had bought a universal wall mount for our other tv and it had 2 sets of bolts and thankfully, the bolts we weren't using for that tv are the bolts that we needed for it! And then the screws for the doors won't all tighten completely which is making the door sag a little and we don't have anything in it. Just need different screws to make it work better. Overall, the look is very nice and perfect with our decor and the tv looks great!!!!

It took 5 hours to put together but the finished product was just what we wanted. It had to fit in our living room on an angle and not topple over easily. the fasteners for the door hinges seem to be to small for the weight that doors were designed for. the doors were tipping toward the center causing them to rub on the base of the cabinet scratching the finish along the edge. using some larger and longer screws has solved this problem. I have a 70" flat screen sitting on top and it looks perfect. so I'm very pleased overall.

First, it took me 5 hours to complete the entire assembly process (with was with taking my time to make sure I only have to do this once and 2 10 minute breaks). Even at best, plan to work on this for a few hours when you buy it. Also I cannot stress enough, have someone help you left this or use a hand cart with ratchet tie downs, it is long and heavy. I lift people for a living, and trust me you need help or you will hurt yourself or damage the product. Once it was all put together I was very pleased, it looks great, very solid.

NOW, here are my 3 concerns and problems that I think the company (Walker Edison, not MayFair) need to address.

#1 the corner feet for these suck royally. I'm sorry but if I'm trying to move it back and forth a few inches to get the right angle and have a foot slip off its annoying. Eventually one of them will break since they attach to the frame with two tiny wood dowels. The feet themselves are thick and solid, as they need to be for the weight, but the attaching mechanism really sucks for slight adjusting. If one breaks I'm just getting high end coaster wheels.

#2 Also the tv stand mount that comes with this is definitely heavy duty and will easily hold up my 55" TV. BUT, its not a higher end bracket system which they have on their other models. So we will see how installation of that goes today. I don't predict any major problems as its a lighter model TV, but its still 55". Believe me it the mount doesn't hold the TV properly I'm returning this item in a heartbeat, with a nasty gram attached.

#3 The doors are great, but they are a pain in the butt to level just right. I adjusted one twice and the other 3 times. Still not perfect, but better than originally and I don't want to strip the wood by inserting screws too many times into the same holes.

STILL all in all these are minor things when you look at what you get for your money. I would recommend this to anyone, its functional, sleek, and good quality (minus the before mentioned minor things).

Altra Bookcase with Sliding Glass Doors - White

This bookcase arrived by UPS in absolutely perfect shape during the given time window. For several days prior to delivery UPS said they hadn't picked it up yet. On delivery day I didn't check, thinking that it would surely be a few more days. However I heard the truck outside and surprise! It was here. The UPS man brought it into my house for me.

My friend is a manufacturing engineer and he volunteered to assemble it for me. He found it quick and simple to assemble. He used the screwdriver attachment for his electric drill, and said that made assembly much easier and that it would have taken longer with a manual screwdriver. I think it took him about an hour and a half (though I had unpacked everything before he started). The doors slide very smoothly but he had to work on one of them a little because it wasn't straight (it closed leaving a bigger gap at the top than the bottom). That was the only difficulty with assembly and it wasn't much.

The only negative I can think of is that the instructions specify that the shelves can only hold 30 pounds or else they will bend. I expected this, but wish that this had been revealed in the amazon description rather than only revealed upon receiving the product. Anyway, if you have heavy books you might want to weigh them. I put my heaviest books on the bottom (which can hold 60 pounds), and put paperbacks and lighter books on the shelves above. I fit almost 4 boxes of books in this bookcase. It held more than I expected, and I am pleased. I plan to order another to use as an extra cabinet in my kitchen.

I've been searching for just the right bookcase for my new home. I knew what I wanted, just had to find it. (I can't believe how expensive bookcases are!) This bookcase had the look I was going for but I was afraid to order it, thinking it would be cheap quality. However after more searching, and not willing to pay the higher prices, I ordered this bookcase. I am very satisfied with the quality. It is very nice and sturdy. It took a little longer than I anticipated putting it together, but it wasn't hard. It is an attractive piece and I recommend it to anyone.

Received this order today and was disappointed with the fact that there was damage to 3 items in the box. I contacted Ameriwood using the number on the front of the product manual, they informed me that the product is imported and it would take 6-8 weeks for the replacement parts to come in.

The customer service rep informed me that they could not provide any further assistance and I would need to contact the seller. Boxing up an 86# bookcase and returning it to UPS is not a project I would like to take on. The book case itself is very nice and would have made a nice addition to our room. I would advise shopping at a brick and mortar store so you have the option to return the product if necessary.

As someone who can't be trusted to assemble anything properly, I did have a capable friend put it together for me. He just took his time and followed the directions/used common sense. South Shore Furniture Noble Collection TV Stand

I've been an Amazon customer for years and this is my first review of a product. I dont write reviews because I'm almost always happy with my purchases because I do my research before buying. This product was so poor, I just had to write a review. Unfortunately for me, there weren't enough reviews of this item to warn me about its poor quality. In retrospect, I would have expected a better product for the price of this item.

The Bad

This piece of furniture looks really nice in pictures but its really low quality stuff. I would rate this lower in quality than IKEA items. The entire product is laminated composite (pressed) wood material. That in itself is not a bad thing but the pressed wood for this item is softer that other pieces of pressed wood furniture I've dealt with in the past. Therefore, it crumbles easily in the corners and tend to crack or break easier that other similar wood products. What makes this product worthless is the laminate on the wood. The laminate is ultra thin. Over the years, I've dealt with all sorts of laminated wood furniture products but I've never had a product with lamination this thin. It so thin that it chips or peels with ease even when you are careful. You could literally peel the laminate off with your finger nails without too much effort. For example, it chipped while I was moving the DVD player in the shelf the feet of the player with soft felt like stuff is what rubbed off the laminate. Also, one long piece that runs under the top board came shipped with a chip in it that had already peeled back. The other issue I had with this item was that the pre-drilled holes for the drawer handle on the board that makes up the front of the drawer didn't match the spacing on the handle. I had to use a drill to make the holes on the board larger in order to fit the handle. Also, the board that makes up top of the furniture had a 3 inch crack under the lamination but it didn't make it through to the surface. This wasn't a huge deal to me since I was going to place my AV receiver on top which would cover up that spot. Again, this lends to poor overall quality of this product.

The Good

I called the customer service number and they were very professional and courteous. I told them about the one piece that game damaged and they said they would ship me a replacement part in a couple of days via FedEx. The original box was packaged really well. On top, its seems Amazon did a fantastic job putting an outer layer of packaging to protect it during shipping. The instructions were clear but I can see people having issues with some of it. All the parts were neatly packaged and some of the parts had extra pieces in case you lost some while assembling it.

Summary

Overall, I'm really disappointed with this product. It looked like top notch stuff but it turned out to made of really cheap materials. Its great that the company will replace parts that came damaged but it doesn't make up for the poor quality.

This is flat pack furniture all of my comments are with that in mind. You're not buying solid wood from the showroom floor. That being said, it is overall a higher quality than most flat pack furniture I've bought.

Assembly was easy it takes some time, but very little effort and the end product feels solid.

I did have to use customer service for a missing piece, but their customer service (as others have mentioned) are excellent so that was pain free. If their customer service sucked, I would rate this 1 star as I would be screwed without the piece that was missing.

I would buy this from them again. I give it 5 stars because I've never had exceedingly better flat pack furniture.

The item itself is wonderful, we love the tv stand and it looks great in our living room, but we were sorely disappointed by the state it arrived in. One of the boards was broken clean in half. It was just to keep the piece looking cleaner from underneath so we built the unit anyway. We also had to glue one of the drawer pieces togethr so that we could build the drawer appropriately. There were numerous nicks and dings on the wood as well. We were able to cover most of it up with the included pen but overall I was very dissatisfied with the state it arrived in. We bought it in "as new" condition but it was definitely not even close. I will be much more careful the next time I buy from this seller.

As far the piece of furniture goes it has been great so far. We love the look and it fits our 50 inch very well. It has ample storage for our DVDs, PS3, and games. I even got a whole side to store family photo boxes which is great. So if you're looking for a nice product definitely check this one out. Just pay the full price from the retailer instead of the amazon warehouse.

This piece of furniture looks good once all put together but its not made very well. It took approx 3 hours to assemble and there was one piece that came cracked. Thankfully, it wasn't a piece noticeable to the eye. When assembling, there were several times the wood started to split.

Overall, I am happy with it but wondering if it would have been better to buy a piece of furntire already assembled and skip the hassle!!

The braces in the package I received do not fit. They will not work in the intended fashion (as shown in the diagrams) because the notch on top was not cut deeply enough. I needed one brace in a hurry, so I filed the notch open until it fit. It takes several minutes, so this will be a real pain to repeat when I need the others.

This a ClosetMaid MANUFACTURING ERROR. Whatever happened to quality control?
