Purchased this for a seven year old to help organize her closet. It is the perfect height to sit in her closet underneath her shirts. It's light weight plastic so if she needed to move it herself, she can. We use one shelf for folded jeans and pants... the other shelves are for misc. items. We have a basket on the bottom shelf for belts and scarves.

This item looked good and it was just what I was looking for my garage. When it arrived the tape was half way off the top of the box. When I opened the rather flimsy box this medium heavy item was in, several broken black plastic pieces fell out. They were from the very thin black support pieces that seemed to have been broken by the black plastic foot supports that were just loose in the box. I opened the other end and the black plastic was also broken, probably from being banged around while shipped.the sturdier white plastic parts appeared to be intact. I never took the item out of the box, as there was no point. I just re-taped it and returned it, very disappointed, as I had worked half to the day to get the spot ready where it was to be. Now I had a mess in my garage and no place to put the items in that I was planning to use this for!

In short, if the manufacturer had used a little firmer box and added some kind of foam or cardboard bumpers/supports at both ends and packed the loose items in foam then this could have been avoided.

When I got the replacement, a few weeks later, it was a repeat of the first shipment. I returned it also and canceled the order altogether. Two times with the same problem is one time too much for me. I feel the third time would have been just the same.

I chose the GSC Tall Utility Cabinet primarily because of its lockable doors, size, and price. If I need another item like this in the future, I will definitely consider spending more to acquire a higher quality product.

It's definitely easy to assemble (with no tools needed), but there are some issues with the parts fitting with precision. There's no "satisfying click" with many of the parts, and many of the satisfying clicks are accompanied by very unsatisfying bulges appearing in areas that previously clicked. Quite a few of the finishing parts are ever-so-slightly too big to fit cleanly in their slots; they are functional, but give the cabinet a very cheap look.

The worst aspect is definitely quality control. The box that it came in was in very good shape, with no dents or dings. The parts, however, were not. Both of the backing pieces (thin plastic) had several cracks in them, and both the top and bottom had one broken "foot." There are fortunately several extra shelf supports, because one of them was missing and three were melted.

Overall, the GSC Tall Utility Cabinet will serve my needs, but will require some alterations on my part to make it durable. If it were easier to disassemble, re-pack, and return it, I would.

Would I recommend it to a friend? If their primary concern was price, I would, but with hesitation. If they were more concerned with quality, I would suggest looking elsewhere.

Actually I love the stand. It arrive well packaged and on time. The only problem is that there was a small scratched place on the very front corner on the bottom shelf. Because I really like the stand and it would be difficult to try to return it, I used some colored pencils made to cover furniture scratches. It covers pretty well. Rubbermaid Configurations 3-to-6-Foot Deluxe Custom Closet Kit

I bought this, but it sat in a box for over 4 months because I was scared of the setup. A friend finally forced me into just doing it, and it took less than an hour for the whole deal. It was so quick that I can't believe I let it sit in a box.

A level (the tube with the bubble) proved very useful.

Anyway, it's sturdy, set up so easily, and I love the bars that let you slide hangers all the way across.

It's also nice looking. If you don't need a formal look, you could isntall this directly on an exposed wall for a sort-of utilitarian look. That's actually what I did, and as long as the clothing is neatly hung, it actually looks great.

No complaints whatsoever.

Please be forewarned, that if you have any thought of possibly using some of the accessories for this system, you MUST set your uprights at the prescribed 22 inches apart.

Also, please note that if your space is not 6 feet wide, and you go with 22 inches between the uprights, you'll end up with a section that could be very, very, narrow and unusable for shelving.

I installed this into a closet to replace a ClosetMaid single shelf closet system. The space was about 5 feet wide. I do not have any intention of using the accessories that require the 22 inch width (basket, shoe rack, pants rack, etc). My first lay out following the directions clearly. I ended up with a space that was about 6 inches wide. So, I reconfigured the uprights and have about 15.5 inches between them. Works well, and doesn't look silly.

The directions are clear. The materials are solid. The anchors they supply are not what you're used to; a cross between a traditional plastic anchor and a molly. They seem to work fine.

Definitely like the system, and intend to purchase the 4-8 foot deluxe system for another closet upgrade.

I have personally installed three of these on my own. It is great for that reason. Also, you can get extra shelves (shoe shelves, for instance) to configure it your own way. For a reorganization project, making your closet more useful and user friendly is tops. This set is perfect for that, and doesn't break your wallet to do so.

Bathroom Wall Shelf

The shelf went together easily, and went up on the wall the same way. Looks nice and seems sturdy. The slats on the shelves make bottles tip if they aren't placed just right, but works great with baskets. All in all a good product for the price.

Winsome Wood Shelf, Espresso

We're a family of bookworms who've had to get creative about adding linear feet of shelving. We also love oversize hardbound books and folios, so we need sturdy storage. A few months ago, I found these low-rise units on Amazon and realized they would fit in some unused space under a picture window. I ordered a single unit as kind of a test run to see how I liked the shelf in person -color, stability, durability.

That shelf rated a solid six stars. I easily assembled it solo (instructions call for two-person assembly); the wood pieces were true and of reassuring heft, so I was able to put heavy books on both lower shelves and smaller items surrounded by movable decorative bookends on the top shelf (you could easily leave it bare or put collectibles there).

Unfortunately, the second piece I ordered had flaws in terms of the coloring of the finish. Because two of the three shelves and both of the rear rails are reversible, I was able to minimize the visual impact. I'm using these as bookshelves, the color issue is not a problem, but I wanted to note it for those who may be considering leaving most of the wood visible. Winsome's basket sets certainly would cover any areas and are designed to work with this line of shelves.

After a vigorous internal debate, as hinted at by the title of this review, I've given this shelf four stars. For me, the positives outweigh the negatives. It's sturdy, it's solid wood, I love the espresso tone, and it's a good value. As of this writing in May 2009, this product is sorted into the "bathroom" category and it does seem as though it would handle the humidity. However, to my mind it is well suited for a bedroom, living room or home office.

I needed an additional bookcase in my bedroom and didn't want anything too big...or too expensive. I was a little worried ordering this as some of this manufacturer's pieces weren't reviewed too well (pieces scratched, didn't fit, etc.)

It arrived and I immediately opened it to make sure it was okay. No problems. Well, a tiny scratch on the back side of the top shelf...not a big deal since this will sit against the wall. I put it together by myself in about 25 minutes. I did go the extra step of putting some wood glue (not included, but even white glue will work) on the dowel pieces and on the little caps that cover the screws (it comes with 12 screws, and Allen wrench, and the little wooden caps that cover the holes.)

It looks very nice. The top doesn't sit perfectly on the sides, the middle of the side pieces are just slightly larger than the ends so the top has tiny gaps under it in the front and back. It could have been more flush, but it isn't fine furniture...and the gaps are really only noticeable when you look at it straight on from low in the front...and they are small...less than 16th of an inch. I wasn't sanding or planing for that small of an amount.

It feels very study and is already full with books. I sort of wish I picked one with adjustable shelves, but choose this because it was made of wood, not particleboard and plastic laminate. I really like it.

I put it together alone in about 20 minutes. It seems well made and durable. It's attractive. What more can you ask of a basic, cheap bookshelf?

I like that it has rails behind the shelves, to help the books stay on, as my books like to slide off the back of open shelves.

Note that this is not foldable and not stackable. I knew this when I ordered, but many other items that compete with it are so I thought I'd mention.

The wood, instead of being the glossy espresso that I was hoping for, is not that glossy and has different tones of espresso throughout. Probably not noticeable much unless you're up close to it. Also, with the shipping charge, it's pretty pricey for what I think is lower-quality furniture. Oh, and one of the flush that hides the holes where the screwes go in was missing in my shipment. Not a big deal for most, but it's kinda annoying. I paid for that little piece of wood!

The unit arrived on time, in great shape. When I opened the box I found all the parts wrapped in heavy weight paper protective covering and bound together with a strap to prevent individual parts from moving around and chaffing or otherwise marring the finish.

Assemble instructions say two people needed...maybe for a much larger shelf unit, but I doubt it. This unit on assemble scale of 1 5 is a 1-1.5 MAX!...as for being solid when assembled...that's a 5+...This baby isn't going anywhere...

This is a great little kitchen hardwood cart. The price can't be beat for such high quality. I ordered this item and it arrived super fast, in excellent packaging and with the most complete instructions for assembling something that I have ever seen. Leisurely taking my time, the cart was very easily assembled in 1.5 hours... someone who was moving quickly could likely get it assembled in 30 45 minutes. Again, with the great instructions, I think even an untrained chimp would be able to easily assemble this cart :-)

The Cart is made of wood, which is a big plus. I bought the Cart to put in my kitchen to blend with a Oak Shelf Unit. It doesn't blend. The Cart has two different wood shades instead of all one color. It is also very rough. The finish should have been sanded to a smooth finish, but it is not. It's not what I expected.

Four stars for decent quality and moderately easy assembly. I spent a tad over one hour assembling the unit with only minor difficulty in interpreting the drawings. We store cookbooks in the cabinet and drawer, and have a large (ancient) microwave on top. The unit is solid, sturdy, and works very well for us. I consider it a good value for the price.

Create-a-Cart White Finish with Grey or Black Granite Top

This is a very nice piece. It's solid (meaning a good weight). Assembly will take a whole morning or afternoon. Took two of us about 3.5 hours (including some errors). Comes in two boxes and both are very heavy. Put down a tarp so that after Fedex leaves you can slide the boxes around without lifting.

Some tips:

1. Assemble the base first.

2. As you add the inside walls for the drawers, make certain the drawer rails are facing the correct way. We went by the picture and that was wrong. The wheels on the rails face the back of the unit. Trust me; we all discussed it, and then went with the picture then had to take it apart (which was fairly easy thank goodness).

3. The "F" bars were difficult to align with the back boards; but that may have been because we had those drawer rails facing the wrong way.

3. We suggest that you put on the towel and spice rack just before you are ready to put on the cross bars for the marble top. Makes tightening some of the screws easier.

4. One of our door hinges is defective/warped and makes the door pop open. Was going to ask the maker to send us new hinges, but instead we took the magnets from the bottom of one of our replacement Sonicare toothbrushes (the strongest little magnets you can find) and that keeps it shut.

Some measurements you may want to consider:

A. Inside drawers are small: 10 3/8" wide by 11 1/2" long. The small drawers are 3" deep and the bottom drawer is 8.5" deep.

B. The usable shelf space is 13" wide by 12" deep. One adjustable height shelf per cabinet. Would have liked one more.

We are happy with the piece. It is not deep not going to put a toaster or anything like that on it but it's a great workspace. We really like it. Would be 5 stars if they hadn't messed up that picture and given us a bad hinge. At the time of purchase we paid 441 dollars. At the time of this review the price has gone up significantly on Amazon you can find it at least 50 dollars cheaper elsewhere. Happy hunting.

Easy to put together. Like an easy puzzle. The pieces are readily marked and easy to check off when assessing what is received. The hardware for the drawers (the slides for the drawers and the hinges) already come assembled, so you are basically fitting the wood pieces together (though you do need to attach the wheels) which is easy and very well explained in the directions. If you're looking for additional counter space or kitchen storage space, this piece is an awesome add.

This item came in with two packages, one is the counter top, and the other is the rest of the cabinet. It's quite simple to put together as long as you have the power tool, you do need to pay attention to the details of each component in order to assemble it properly.

The items came in decent condition, I did have some parts that had scratch on them, but overall I am pretty satisfied.

The wheels have locks on them, I thought it's worth mentioning.

I would give it a five star if the instruction can be more clear or somehow mark the parts, so people can immediately tell which way is the right way for each part. Also, of course it would be perfect if there were no scratches at all to the parts.

The 12" in the product name refer to the length of the two edges that would be up against the wall.

A nice quality shelf with easy mounting. You might want to check that your walls are relatively square before you buy these. If your walls are out of square where they meet in the corners, these shelves won't look very good.

Standard Contemporary Display Shelf

This shelf looks great in my office, but it is rather flimsy. The shelves slide together in interlocking pieces, which makes assembly easy but it's not very sturdy. The three vertical shelves each have anchors for the nail; in addition, I put nails on either side of the middle support to keep the shelf unit from wiggling back and forth. That being said, it looks just like the picture; same lovely chocolate brown and same proportions. I don't think it would safely hold anything very heavy, like a large volume of books, but I only wanted it for knick knacks anyway and it's just perfect for that purpose. I'm considering one in a different color for another room in our house; just not sure about how well it holds together.

It's very easy to install and a good use of space. Not too big and not too small. I've put it up in the front of my home and it seems to be made of solid materials. I have some plants and pictures on it and it feels secure.

I just received this shelf in the mail a couple days ago. It was very cautiously and safely packaged, which was nice. However, the instructions mailed with the shelf were NOT for the correct shelf assembly. I received instructions for a different ladder looking 5 layer shelf. That was annoying considering how much I paid for this but whatevs, I was able to assemble it within 5 minutes on my own just using the picture from this site. I was also able to hang it on my own just using a drill, the provided screws, and a level. I would have liked to have seen more secure hanging hardware, again, given that I paid so much for this shelf but, also again, whatevs. Once I got it hung I stepped back and was finally able to admire the beauty of the piece. It really is something else. The general design and aesthetic is beyond exceptional. I adore that way it looks. Really adds to the decor of my office. So I was pretty please with that. But honestly, I feel like this product is pretty overpriced for what it is; a few lightweight, painted, slabs of wood that fit together like a puzzle. I could have homemade this with a few pieces of plywood, a small saw, a can of black spray paint, and 20 minutes. But again... whatevs. If I had to do it again I would have just take this picture and tried to recreate it myself before dropped a couple hundred Benjies on it. I'll post a pic of my shelf after posting this review.

42-Inch High Boy Black Wood TV Stand with Media Storage

The assembly on this product is painful due to many different pieces, and the part on the bottom holding the weight does NOT have a backside to it, which is just odd.

But really the main problem we found with this unit is that it can't go into a corner, the doors swing open quite a bit wider than the unit itself. So if you want to use the doors, you need to calculate about 10-12 inches of free space to both sides of the unit.

That said, I still liked it.

When we bought the item, we thought it was described as a " high boy" meaning 42 in.. high. It was only 30 in. high. The quality of material was not as expected since the base of the cabinet broke when we tried to put it together. The color was good and it looked nice in the picture but we were disappointed with it.

Ok, so this product arrived, and the packaging looked like someone had thrown it down a flight of stairs. I opened it up and there was one small blemish that was easily overlooked and I took a sharpie marker to it. No problem. I began assembling it and all the parts are there. The holes didn't seem to be drilled consistently because some dowels fit perfectly, some loosely and some I had to shave down to make them fit. Once fully assembled I got it where I wanted it and put my TV on top. It looks good I have to say. Good height, size, storage. But the pegs on the side storage slip out, once again due to the holes not being drilled correctly. All in all pleased, but there could have been some more attention to detail put into it.
