These are rather cheap shelves, but they're pretty much what I expected, serve my needs, and were easy to hang. One came damaged and the seller responded quickly and sent a replacement along with a return shipping label for the damaged one. If Amazon had two rating categories--one for the product and one for the seller--I would have given the product 2 stars and the seller 5 stars.

it was purchased as a gift. it has yet to be put together yet so i have no idea if its okay or not or broken or not.

I must say I am very impressed with the general build quality of this entertainment center. The wood and the glass all fit together perfectly, and the fit and finish are great. It comes with all the tools you need for assembly. It seems a very sturdy alternative to mounting the TV on the wall.

I have a cherry wood colored version of this and love it . I wanted an open concept so my receiver would breath. Additionally the bracket for the HDTV allows additional room on top shelf. All wood and smoked glass. Quality product at a great price.

Cabinet looks great. SHipment came very quickly from California (we're in Ohio). Glass and cabinet piece was not damaged packaging did good job. One problem with the latch that closes the glass panel; the screw holding in latch was loose so we put in a bigger one to hold it firmly.

I was a little skeptical when I ordered since I knew it would be a whole glass side. I had images of broken glass falling out onto the Christmas tree when my husband opened the case for Christmas. No such thing happened. The case was beautiful, even better than what I'd expected!

I purchased one for my husband so he could display his O gauge trains. He liked it so much we purchased a second one. Both arrived fast and undamaged. One suggestion to the manufacturer would be to make it wider so that (3) 15" O gauge cars could fit on one shelf. Currently I can only get 2 passenger cars on one shelf.

Originally ordered the HO scale case in walnut finish. The packing box came marked as walnut but the display case was in the black finish. Impressed with the quality of construction, finish, and care in packaging provided for the price. My only minor criticism is the shelf space is really tight in both depth and height for some HO cars and locomotives. Due to the case being in the wrong finish, I returned it and re-ordered another in walnut but this time in the O scale size to provide more room for the HO equipment. Had an easy and very good experience in the return authorization process. Will most likely order additional case if this works out. Again, very good quality for the price.Also, I would probably beef up the hanging hardware if planning to use for display of heavier items like collector-quality locomotives; this can be done very easily.

I ordered the HO & O scale display cases. Both look very good and are sturdy. I recommend screwing a cleat to the wall then hanging the case from the cleat. I wouldn't hang it using the hollow wall anchors supplied. I was expecting a glass front but it turned out to be some type of plastic probably better than glass. Company representative was great to work with and answered my e-mails very promptly. He even refunded my shipping on one of the cases when it did not arrive on time.

I bought 4 of these originaly with the advice of a friend, Imounted them inside my work van on the doors (I have a window lessvan) by mounting plywood then ataching them. I really didnt thinkthey would work out very well, but was I ever wrong!! Not only do theydo what they are suppose to do (organize screws and such) But theyDONT come open when you dont want them to. I was so impressed withthem that I bought another set for the side doors of my truck. If Ihad more places for them I'd buy more! The weight I ask them to holdis incredible, and they do it!

Now that I have used 2 different sizes of the product inside my work van, I want to say that this is 'perfect'. I am a bit difficult to please, but this product is great. The material is neither too soft nor too hard, do not open by themselves, are easily to remove when you want to refill drawers, stack tightly and easily, fit in a variety of places, are not as noisy as metal (with no sharp edges), you can see what's inside, and best of all, BEST OF ALL, they are still working after almost 2 years! Am I still living in America? TJS

This review is for Alera# SW604818BA 18x48x6ft but other Aleras are very similar: Screw-together posts, fast (well under 2 hours) easy assembly, all-welded heavy wire shelves, nice, permanent finish. As an engineer I say it's an excellent, sturdy design. // My first buy was two units. Only a couple of holes were in the cardboard boxes UPS delivered. It was a different story inside!! On one shelf, both girder-like sides were neatly bent up 20 degrees. There were no matching bends in the box. The bends were not UPS's fault; they were factory errors or maybe a 10 ft. drop onto concrete. // Another shelf had a heavy longitudinal support wire welded to the wrong side of the end girder! The whole shelf was a misshapen slope, but they painted it and shipped it anyway! // A third shelf had a depression of multiple bent wires across an 8-inch area. // All of those shelves were useless, but since you can't get replacement shelves, I built one unit out of the good parts, then put all the bad parts into one box and returned that unit for credit to vendor "C". Then I bought a third unit from vendor "O". It was OK. Conclusion: If you buy an Alera, make sure you can return units easily, read the seller's fine print, and choose a reliable vendor! // More on packaging: The shelves are stacked inside the box with thin plastic spacers at the corner holes where posts go. 8 heavy steel half-posts are shipped between two shelves. ALL 24 post halves were loose and freely banging around as delivered! Two caster sets, ditto. These were accidents waiting to happen, as 4 of the half posts have precision screw couplers preinstalled with no protection. // On assembly: Don't screw together the posts first as the assembly picture shows. Decide where you want your bottom shelf, put the plastic clips for that shelf on the bottom posts, then slide the posts into that shelf horizontally and press them solidly to make a "shorty" unit. Flip the shorty unit so it's standing correctly vertical and build upwards, screwing in the upper posts when you need them. Make your shelf location decisions before assembly, as the Alera units must be disassembled with hammer and luck to change shelf locations. // Final note: Target sells a copycat version of this that is considerably cheaper and considerably flimsier. I bought 2 and now am wiser--though all of Target's shelves were good.

One of the best looking storage shelf ever. Never bought anything from this brand before. I have to say, design is simple with a touch of elegance. Every shelf has a rivet edge around all sides. It may seem very little to bare mentioning but it certainly looks much better than your ugly industrial-looking shelves. I didn't know what is Anthracite until I google it. It is some sort of hard compressed coal material that is very strong yet light. When I got it, sure enough, it is not too heavy for this size of shelving. The instruction was easy so I assembled it within 15 minutes. They threw in extra 4 connectors in case any of them breaks. So I thought it was very thoughtful of them. The color was more of a gun metal color. So it is not quite totally black. You do have the option of using the wheels or without. So that is great. I think the weight capacity is around 800-1000 lbs. Highly recommended if you can find it for a good price.

These shelves were simple to put together. The shelves are sturdy enough to hold stacks of junk I had collecting on the floors of my garage such as boxes full of paint, sports bags, old pots, etc. I have no problem moving these shelves into different locations thanks to the casters. My only critique are the brakes on the casters. They're small and take a bit of effort to lock in place. Summary, I'd buy more if I needed more shelving space.

These are great shelves. They go together easily. The wheels are great, because I can build the shelves where I have room, and then roll them to the rum they have to go to. I have put together about 5 of these to date, and haven't been shorted any parts.

We did a lot of research into which shelves to buy for our garage before finally settling on these. I bought five units to clean up my garage directly via an Amazon Prime seller. I received the shelves in less than a full business day, and the packaging and the like were in good condition. They are a bit heavy to lug around if you are older, but definitely worth it to get them sent directly to your home. As far as construction, I would HIGHLY recommend doing this with two people and that you read the directions carefully. I would also suggest a rubber mallet to secure the edges and seat them properly. The first time through it took us about thirty minutes to figure out how to assemble correctly, but after the first one it took maybe fifteen minutes.

As far as quality of the shelves, they are worth every penny. We had bought a flimsier version before and I always worried about overloading the shelves. I have no fear with this model, and the wheels glide super smoothly, even when the shelves are fully loaded. The brakes feel a little less than sturdy, but my spouse had no problem with them, so that may just be me. They are a lovely gunmetal grey, and blend well with the garage.

Overall, I would highly recommend these to anyone looking to clean up a garage or basement. It is a lot easier to assemble with two people though, and I would suggest doing it in an open area, where you can move the poles about freely.

I bought this to put in my guest bathroom which is kind of small. This is a definite space saver and the craftmanship is excellent. This is now the highlight of my bathroom and gives it more of an elegant look. Would have been better if it came with anchors as the screws they came with were long and not the best with drywall. Overall it's a nice shelf.

The shelf is of nice quality and craftsmanship and it does come very well-packed.

But the bracket, which is arguably the most important aspect of a shelf of this type, is the weak link. It is relatively thin and bends and twists easily, and there are only holes at the ends of it; no series of holes along the length to allow for fastening the bracket to at least one stud--and this is a must with this type of "floating" shelf. As a result, once you have decided on the desired location of the shelf on the wall, the chance of a stud being where the holes of the bracket are located are very, very slim. Installation with drywall anchors is inadequate, and as a result the shelf ends up sagging noticeably.

We ended up returning a set of these and purchasing on-floating shelves with a standard type bracket from IKEA.

I ordered these to put towels on in a small bathroom to get rid of a traditional over the tank metal rack. I'm so glad I opted for these shelves! If I fold my towels in fourths, they fit beautifully and they have really tidied the appearance of my bathroom. These were a great investment!

There is a wall bracket that you are supposed to screw to the wall, and then slide the shelf onto. Unfortunately, the manufacturers decided to package the screws INSIDE the bracket and they are stuck -when the bracket was cast, a glob of metal ended up over the hole. I have to go out and buy new screws in order to install this shelf.

Plus, the finish isn't the greatest. There are weird streaks and globs of yellow where the varnish was put on too thick. Definitely not worth the money I spent. I am very disappointed.

The shelf is good looking but the screws are packed inside the rods that hold the shelf. They are IMPOSSIBLE to get out so I will have to get some new screws and leave the screws that came with the shelf inside it forever. VERY poor planning.

This is an excellent alternative to the ubiquitous and monstrous "home theater" cabinets everyone seems to have.

Unlike the cabinets this allows optimal airflow, being open on four sides for each shelf, and is easily height adjustable. So my components which side vent are on shorter shelves while the passive top venting receiver is on a much taller one.

There are only two negatives.

The first is that it does take forever to put together. The assembly is simple and straightforward; it just takes at least an hour. The main frustration is that each shelf is held up by eight nuts which must be threaded over the entire length of each long pole and that takes time. Totally worth it though, IMO.

The second is that due to it being an open design (without a back) there is no way to hide your cables. However, a couple of zip ties and a bit of good cable management will transform that spiders nest into an organized set which is barely noticeable. Much like the electrical cords for lamps audio cables become invisible if well organized & tidy.

If you want a minimalist, attractive, and classy audio/video rack this fits the bill. The walnut is handsome and fits in nicely with my walnut tower speakers, wood floor, etc.. It shows off your setup but doesn't look "techy".
