Good, quality product. However, to sell it without the shelves is not only ridiculous, it is more than a little misleading.

Then to charge the equivalent of the the original shelving unit, for the shelves themselves was another slap in the face.

I really like the John Louis products and have used them in our master closet. We purchased these towers to add more storage for shoes and had no idea that it didn't come with shelves. This information is hidden in the product description and really should be part of the bulleted Product Features list. Though I am at fault for not reading carefully enough I think that for the amount that we paid for these, they should come with SOME shelves.

Photo in product description shows unit with shelfes, which are NOT part of the package and have to be ordered in addition. Very misleading. Photo should show what you get with your order and not what possibilities you have when buying additional shelfes. Unit just comes with left and right frame and top and bottom, creating an empty box with no storage possibilities. At least 2 shelfes should be included.

I was very disappointed in the stand alone towers. It was not clear from the description that they came without shelves. At that point I decided to order the shelves separately.

It was a nightmare to assemble the tower and the shelves. I made several trips to the hardware store. It became a team effort with my family,...we were all out of patience

and exhausted by the end. I am usually very pleased with purchases through amazon, but this was not a good experience. The towers are not worth the time and money.

These racks are great for shoes and sweaters. I put two in my closet for shoes and they work great. Good airflow and compact size. I have read other reviews that talk about cheap quality. For the price. I quoted custom cabinets for $3000 to do the same thing, so I am quite happy. I don't plan on hanging from these and they work well to hold shoes and stuff.

A few items came defective from the manufacturer and I sent them back with no issues through Amazon Amazon is the way to go!

I will not purchase any more products from South Shore because of the flimsy cardboard backing, and the cam covers fall right off revealing the screws. Overall, this product is cheaply made, but for the price--go figure. This product is great if you want a quick fix, but I would not recommend buying this product if you are planning on it staying together for more than five months, because no matter how well you take care of it, the product is flimsy; and the boards will inevitably warp as a result.

The bookcase is very nice. I love the color. It has some odd disclorations in spots, but it sort of adds to the character of the piece. Here's the BIG but, I am having a HORRIBLE time finding bins that fit the cubes. I bought this with the mindset that I would use cube storage bins to store all the little things my kids leave laying around and I would be more organized. I've searched high and low and the only place that I've found the perfect size bins is Ikea and I don't love the pattern they are in. The bookcase needs approximately 12" square bins. They could be higher in height, but good luck finding them. So, my advice to you, don't think you'll find the perfect size bins to fit each cube. Either use the bookcase without bins or be prepared to use a mismash of different size bins.

This piece is absolutely gorgeous! It's huge (apparently I didn't pay attention to the dimensions when I bought it), but that means that each slot will fit a 12" square basket. This is great for keeping shoes in, which was our intention. The finish is really nice and not easily damaged much more solid than some similar pieces I've bought.

My only complaint is that it's fairly difficult to assemble. I'm a petite woman and it took me 3.5 hours of struggling to put the thing together by myself (and I occasionally had to ask my preschooler to hold something). Each section of the cubby is one short shelf that locks into the next and because some of the holes were drilled tight I had trouble pushing each new piece in without another section falling back out. I've bought another cubby unit that used solid horizontal shelves with vertical pieces that slid in on a guide wire a much smarter design than 9 small interlocking pieces. But if you have help or make sure to alot a few solid hours, you'll get it together. It's definitely worth the hassle in the end just know what you're getting into.

Ordered this piece on Black Friday. Arrived broken. Contacted the manufacturer for a replacement part. After two weeks of waiting, returned to Amazon for a very prompt replacement.

Pieces were poorly labeled and hardware all in one big bag. One of the shelves cracked when tightening down a CAM lock. Overall, much more difficult to put together than competing brands. Directions could have been more specific on where hardware goes.

Actual wood is much darker in color than pictured here on Amazon. That was, overall, the biggest disappointment with the piece. Looked like it would match and was off by a long shot.

It's a nice piece with good materials. We bought it because it fit perfectly into a space we had.

However the workmanship is flawed. All the shelves, sides and bottom went together fine similar to the way Ikea furniture works. But the top did not fit correctly over a post in one of the sides. I ended up sawing off a small piece about two inches by half inch by a few millimeters thick. Even then the top was somehow warped so the two of three pins on the other side did not go into the side.

I kept the piece because the problems are not visible from the outside and I purchased it for a place where it has a lot of utility but not a lot of visibility to people who visit.

I have photographs I'd gladly contribute.

This cabinet is OK it looks nice but holds very little. Also the holes are off so the drawer opens when you open the top glass cabinet. Also when you move it the legs wobble and have to be held on by hand.

Its now been a few months later and this whole thing has fallen apart. It does not stand the test of time.

This curio cabinet is no deal. Spend a little more and get a whole lot more. This is entirely made of poor quality particle board and none of the colors of the "wood " pieces match. Overall a very poor quality piece of furniture that's not worth more than $100. The unit arrived damaged and even if it didn't , it was extremely time consuming to put together since the hardware is of such poor quality that it wouldn't fit together correctly without a lot of negotiation. This is a poor imitation of an Ikea product so save your money and buy it from them. You'll be better for it.

The cabinet is good for its price. It is sturdy, but not very sturdy; after all, it is made out of particle board wood. The color is more like black, but I don't mind. I am using it as a stand near my computer desk to hold a speaker on top of it, a sub-woofer on the upper big shelf, and a modem, router, and external hard drive on the bottom two small shelves. The cabinet's height is perfect for the speaker location because it is just slightly higher than my desk. I of course removed the two cloth containers from the bottom shelves and am using them for storing other things elsewhere.

This is cheap K-mart looking at best.... made from the same "wood" that Kmart uses. Put together with wooden dowels and wood glue. Shelf is held in with screws but there are no screw covers so there are open screw heads in the side. If you are looking for a cheap looking product I would recommend this. If you want a product that you would actually be proud to have in your house for a reasonable price check out other options. Even the bins are made of a fabric that appears to be "mesh like" and looks as though it would rip easily.

This product was terrible to put together. It comes with wood screws and those broke when I was trying to put the product together. The product is wobbly. The description says Espresso Finish but it is more of a black color with brown drawers. I bought it because I thought it would match my existing living room furniture and it was a great height to set my DVD play on it. I have my TV mounted on the wall.

We just moved into a new house with much less space in the kitchen for extra small appliances and large canisters than our old house. So, we really needed some storage for things we don't need daily, but do use frequently. This shelf looked like just the ticket, although ordering something there was a worry it might turn out to be "cheap Chinese junk".

The worry was unfounded. This is a great shelf. It is very sturdy and can be easily assembled w/o tools. I will just add one assembly tip. The vertical rods are two sections each and must be screwed together. Ignore the instructions and put the first two or three shelves on the bottom halves first. Then screw on the top halves of the rods and install the upper shelves. It will make sense when you see the parts.

The unit comes very well packed too.

These shelves are great and I'm completely happy with the purchase. Everything came shipped in one box and nothing was scratched or damaged. I love the shiny chrome finish and assembly was pretty straight forward (took less than 30 minutes). These shelves can fit a lot of heavy stuff and really makes the your space more organized and efficient. They look extremely well built and something that would last a long time (there's a 10 year manufacture's warranty). I'm thinking of purchasing more of these units.

This is a sturdy, attractive shelving unit. The parts were very well-packed and included all the necessary pieces. The instructions were clear enough, and the unit was pretty easy to assemble. It looks like it'll last forever.

The shelves are heavy duty, and they are welded to metal tubes that slide down over the 4 corner uprights. Initially, I was concerned that the shelves would continue to slide out of level, but the design is pretty clever.

Plastic sleeves snap onto the upright poles for each shelf, and the sleeves align themselves with the grooves in the poles (the grooves are cut every inch, so you can space the shelves to suit your needs). The shelves slide onto the sleeves and maintain pressure on the sleeves. Just make sure you install the sleeves at the same level for each shelf.

You can adjust the level of the shelves after the unit is assembled; I had to, since I got one shelf crooked. Just tap the corners of the shelf upward with a block of wood until it lifts off the plastic sleeves; reposition the sleeves, and then tap the shelf corners back down. With the shelves installed, barely 1/8" of the sleeve is visible below each shelf corner.

I do agree with the reviewer who suggested that you assemble the bottom half with 3 shelves first, and then screw in the top portion of the support rods and install the last two shelves. It's easier to wrestle with 3-foot poles instead of 6-foot poles.

I bought this as a utility shelf for my workshop, but it looks nice in the house. I'll be buying a couple more.

This is our second set. They are sturdy and good looking, and easy to modify (in our case, from book shelves to kitchen shelves to utility shelves back to kitchen shelves) to meet fluctuating needs. But: I like to think i can judge for myself what I want out of shelves, and I wish Amazon and whitmor would sell this stuff piece by piece. It is all modular so why cant I buy, say, one with nine shelves? or just three? I know there are basics necessary for the assembly to be stable, but beyond that, why not just trust the people to know what they want?

This bookshelf arrived on time and, when assembled, looks exactly like the one on the site.

Mine was not damaged, although carelessness in assembly left one annoying chip out of the basemy bad but easy to do with boards this thin.

Pros: Lightweight aesthetic, certainly sturdy enough to hold lots of books (although I wouldn't try to fit, say, the encyclopedia britannica). As described and easy to assemble.

Cons: Easier to damage than products with very thick boards. Packing peanuts adhered to the wood via static electricity and were challenging to remove (minor).

When looking at the pictures on the web site, the shelving appears to be angled back. That was my main reason for buying 2 of these. When I received them, I saw they were 4 shelf, upright units and not angled back.

Anyway, the price was reasonable and the construction is sturdy, so all-in-all a good buy but if you are looking for an angled unit, you have to do it yourself like I did ;-)

After looking for days for a vertical TV stand, I found this beauty, and I was impressed. If I could design a stand myself (and I've built furniture before) I would certainly come close to copying this design. It's sleek looking, it leans back ever so subtly. Minimalistic, modern, fun. Receiving the actual product.. well it lost two stars from reality kicking in. The wood was a bit dinged up here and there, and the way the holes wouldn't line up, was almost comical and almost troubling. Yet it still came together solidly, sturdily. I set a 40" TV atop this, and I wouldn't recommend much bigger. I've put all my other AV gear on these shelves, and as long as nobody climbs on it, I am happy. In a perfect world, for double the price, I could have dreamt of stained oak boards, but for this price, I'll forgive the imperfections. As an aside; oddly enough, the styrofoam packaging was disintegrating as if this had been sitting in storage for 20 years; I hope that's not the case. But so what; finely-aged wood is a bragging point! To the manufacturers I suggest: put $10 more into nicer wood, deeper paint job, better sealing, and you can charge $30 more for this cool design. I do recommend this, especially if you need to go vertical. Beware of the dings, and the sloppily engineered holes, and you'll still like it. B+ grade from me.

I ordered this for my home office and was not pleased when I opened the package. Many of the corners were crushed and the cheap materials were crumbling off. The coloring is a bit off and after putting it all together, it doesn't seem too sturdy. I was hoping to buy the matching sets of these, but seeing it now, I think it is wise to throw out that idea. I gave it 2 stars because I like the concept and look of the shelves, they just need to get better materials and package it for shipping better.

Spectrum Wall-Mountable Black Scroll Spice Rack

I read the Amazon product description, and also read through all 36 reviews of this item, but still couldn't find a precise answer to my main question: "What size spice jars will fit in this rack?"

I purchased one, and am now furnishing you with the answer. The space between the bottom shelf and the middle shelf is approximately 4 3/4 inches. The space between the middle shelf and the top shelf is appoximately the same. There is a metal bar running across the front of each shelf to act as a lip that keeps the jars from falling out of the front. That lip is about 1 1/4 inch above the shelf. Therefore, in order to add and remove the taller jars from the shelves, you have to tilt the jars to clear the front lip and the shelf above. In other words you have to angle them onto and off of the shelf. I have found that you can easily do this with jars that are about 4 inches tall. The standard McCormick jars are about 4 1/2 inches tall, and I was able to get them onto the first and second shelves with not much problem. You will not want to use the first and second shelves for jars that are between 4 1/2 and 4 3/4 inches tall. However, you can put jars of any height onto the third shelf, as long as the jars are no greater than 2 1/2 inches in diameter. The 2 1/2 diameter limit applies to the first and second shelves as well. I hope this makes it easier for prospective customers to decide if they can use this spice rack.

The spice rack is well made, and the finish is a satin black that is silky to the touch. I only have 4 quibbles. 1) I wish there was a bit more clearance between shelves. 2) I wish they had put lips on the back like they did on the front, so that you can use the rack free-standing on a counter top without the jars falling out the back. A back lip would also have been useful for wall mount applications to help prevent your wall from being marked by spice jars bumping the wall when you add or remove them from the shelves. 3) The only mounting hardware that is included are 4 screws that go through mounting holes in the rack. If you wall mount this rack on drywall and miss the studs, you are going to have to supply your own wall anchors. I also wish the screws were slightly longer, to provide more secure penetration on studs. 4) My last quibble is with the product information. It's sad that companies, including this one, don't provide adequate product information to answer consumers questions. It's frustrating for consumers to have to search through customer reviews or send questions to product specialtists in an attempt to find crucial information that the company failed to provide! Companies -wake up!

Overall this is a quality spice rack, and if the dimensions are o.k. for your jars, I recommend it.

I bought this spice rack as a present for my roommate, who'd been searching unsuccessfully for a rack to hold her collection of spice bottles. I think she likes it... I know I do! In fact, I am registered for one of my own now that I'm moving out and getting married. I think it's attractive and homey-looking, plus well-made and durable. We've had no trouble with it fitting a variety of typical grocery store spice bottles in different sizes and shapes. It holds a good-sized (but not huge) collection of spices.

I will say that it needs to be pushed flush up against a wall either hanging or sitting on a counter to keep the bottles from slipping out the back. We've had a little trouble with this since a rim on our counter keeps it from being flat on the wall, and we don't have a space to hang it. It does come with its own hanging hardware, which we didn't use.

Fast shipping but when I went to put it together, you have to be an engineer!! I have put together many pieces of furniture but this was by far the hardest. The directions were pictures, which is fine, if they made sense, which was harder to follow. The pieces were not marked and I had to keep looking back and forth to figure them out. Halfway thru, I put the directions aside and was able to do it. It's a nice looking cabinet but just to hard to assemble, plus I could have got one already done, for a few dollars more and a local retailer, which I should have checked on first. My mistake.

I needed a new kitchen cart and had some specific requirements so that it would functional for the area I needed to place it. Holds everything I need. Gave me an extra drawer in the kitchen, although the drawer doesn't work really well no glides for easy movement also the drawer is not very deep still is extra space and I use it tons! If you are looking for something small and functional, this is it!

This cart is solid. It'll take you an hour or so to put together. The same cart would probably cost twice as much assembled, so its worth the trouble. If you have an electric drill with a hex driver, you'll save tons of time. The cart looks good and serves its purpose.

Sauder HomePlus Basic Storage Cabinet, Dakota Oak 411985

We purchased this cabinet via Amazon after searching the internet. The cabinet arrived earlier than promised, so we were happy about that. My adult daughter helped me put the cabinet together, and overall, it went OK. There were a few minor problems during assembly. The first is when we put the rear 'feet' together with the bracing. You have to tap a holder into one of the holes, and then you hand screw in the leveler. When tapping in the holder, part of the plastic foot broke off. It is in the back, and it didn't effect the cabinet, so I didn't worry about it. The second minor issue was discovered when we flipped the cabinet over to nail on the back cardboard. We discovered that the cardboard didn't fit evenly apparently one of the sides of the cabinet wasn't quite as deep(wide) as the other. The front of the cabinet was in alignment, but the back was not. Again, it was by a small amount and in the back, so I didn't worry about it.

Putting in the shelves was a bit of a tight squeeze, but it seemed to make the cabinet sturdier. The bottom line is my wife is happy, so I'm happy! A solid product for the price.

We purchased two of these cabinets for an executive office. Out intensions all along was to add a thin plywood to the back overtop the laminate back. We did and it made these unite feel very sturdy. They look great, hinges and handles are very nice and the composit wood is dense.

To be honest, I liked this cabinet so much I bought it twice. I initially looked at cheaper cabinets, then I looked at ones that were double the price. In all honesty, I'm happy with this one. I often put stuff together and I'm generally handy, I have stuff from the big Swedish home store and I didn't buy this from target, I bought it from Wayfair but it's the same Sauder brand cabinet. The directions are all drawings but I have to say, the screws, nails, etc. are AWESOMELY packaged and labeled, which helps speed up assembly IMMENSELY.

I cut my assembly time in half the second time I put this together (about an hour the second time). I used a power drill and I would recommend it but don't put the torque setting too high (cracked a plastic foot the second time) and you don't use the drill much but you need a bit extender for the bottom screws OR you still need to use a screw driver.

Here are my tips after putting it together twice:

-Lay down on a couple throw rugs if you have a hardwood floor

-Hammer gently as you can

-Align the back panel and tape down with a little tape so that you're not hammering the nails close to the outside of the sides because you will see the outline of the nails through the wood

-Attach the door hinges onto the frame first, not the door as the instructions show, then loosen the slide because the way they're pre-mounted, it'll never fit the door. I got the best door alignment doing it this way the second time. I spent A LOT of time the first time figuring out that the pre-mounted setting doesn't allow the door to be mounted

I was able to cover up some very minor wear on the finish of the corners with a simple brown marker so that was a huge bonus :D The first time I laid the cabinet on some bathroom rugs and I didn't find issues with the corners.

This item came well packaged. Made of steel I expected no damage but checked anyway and found none. I wanted something sturdy and boy does this fit the bill! I like that I can adjust some of the shelves on top and this is strong enough to place my all-in-one printer on top! I have seen it at varied prices and of course Amazon had the best!

This desk organizer has a nice configuration for effective use and was just the right size for my situation. But potential buyers should take note that the sheet metal from which this is made is rather flimsy. I'm sure that it will be functional, but it seems cheap from a material standpoint. Most disturbing is the fact that the item arrived damaged due to bent metal in one rear bottom corner and a couple of other minor dings. I had to use a rubber mallet to straighten it out for use. (No way that I wanted to send it back, as it is big and clunky, and I am not convinced that the next one would be OK.) Anyway, the shipping box was in perfect shape, so the damage did not occur during transit. Rather, it seems that the damaged item was packaged as such, which is telling about the poor quality control of the manufacturer. I hope that it can withstand the weight of books filling the top shelf. We shall see.
