5 Tier Book Shelf

I put this together today. I expected a pretty cheaply made product, but not like this. The top side of the bookshelf is unfinished. None of the pieces line up flush with each other; they're not even designed to do so. Buy Sauder or something else if you're looking for something in this price range.

I mystified as to how mere particle board was made to feel so heavy, to create the illusion that this is decent material, I suppose. The fake wood "veneer" on top of the particle board flakes off immediately.

And as for the option of returning this for my money back, since Amazon makes ME pay for return shipping, and this thing weighs so much, I can guess that most of my refund would actually be spent on shipping--this has happened before with other items I have returned, half the refund cost or more ends up reimbursing me for my cost to pay to ship the item. And yes, getting a half refund is better than none, but in my case, I have no easy way of getting this to a post office/UPS store to return it, or, paying even MORE MONEY out of my pocket to pay UPS to come get it.

Also, when I purchased this item just one week ago, it cost twenty dollars more than they are now charging. Still, you would be better served using plastic tubs than this model bookcase.

I could've gone to Kmart and gotten better quality!!!! As soon as we put this together, this bookcase was falling apart! I purchased two, and will be returning the other!!!! For the amount of money this bookcase costs, it should've been a little more wood, not solely pressed wood, in it!!! I won't ever buy another shelf from amazon again!!!!

First off delivery. I ordered two, which were supposedly in stock. I received one over a week later than the other (I guess it wasn't in stock after all). Next, the packaging. This item is packaged in the cheap (referred to as Chinese) packaging, meaning the styrofoam is cheap and disintegrates during shipping. So, expect to be cleaning up a lot of styrofoam particles. Next the manufacture materials. This is the presswood furniture that has become so familiar in America. The materials this product is made of is a very low grade. The parts are very thin and the veneer is only on what they consider will be the visible sides (so, no veneer on the top, the back edges, the bottom, or even the bottom of the bottom shelf). The hardware is below par as well. The furniture fasteners do not function properly, so the fit is never tight. Also, they have reduced the number of fasteners to the bare minimum, so in places that would benefit from having the fasteners, an alignment peg is used instead. And now for some assembly tips. The instructions are really just diagrams. Follow them carefully. The male half of the fasteners should only be screwed in as far as the threads allow, do not put them in past the first stop. When you begin to straighten out the folds in the back, be careful to to exert too much pressure, or the finished side will split at the crease. Since the hardware is so cheap, be sure to square the unit before nailing on the back! After you've nailed it on, you don't want to find that it is out square because you'll have to pull all the little tack nails out and try again, so square it before applying the back. While nailing on the back, if you miss the exact center of the side you are nailing to, expect it to break the cheap veneer in the visible side. This is the result of the sides being manufactured so thin. In short, these units should go for half the price they are being sold for, and even if they say they are in stock, don't be surprised if there is an extended delay in receiving it.

South Shore Axess Collection 4-Shelf Bookcase

I'm not sure why this product has an overall decent rating. We used this shelf as a bookcase. I assumed since bookcase is in the name of the item, it could be used as such. We filled it with books and the same day saw all the shelves starting to sag. Within a week the shelves were sagging about an inch. I wouldn't recommend buying this if you plan on using it for a bookcase. Unfortunately, it's more work to disassemble it and find another box to return it in than buying wood, cutting it to size and painting it.

This bookshelf is serving as a backup in our office, since the main one in our living room was starting to overflow. It's a great product if you know what you're getting yourself into. It's not wood; it's laminated particle board. It requires assembly, which is easy because the directions are specific, and all of the pieces are labeled. As one who has assembled many pieces of furniture, this is always so helpful. The color on this piece is great (I have the dark brown). I can't say that I would make this my primary bookshelf, but in an office space, it's fine. It holds a lot! It really is a great piece for the price.

Though these shelves are, in fact, made of thick particle board with laminate, they are sturdy enough to hold a reasonable number of books with no difficulty. Assembling can be a little frustrating, and, as the instructions let you know, definitely does require two people. The shelves are deep and hold large books well and the shelves themselves can be adjusted to provide greater height for the larger books of your collection.

Some advantages:

1) The shelf looks fantastic once it's all put together and serves its purpose well.

2) It's a good sized bookcase with relatively deep shelves and is especially great at holding larger books for this reason.

My biggest complaints really are these:

1) With the exception of the centre shelf, which is screwed in place by necessity, the two floating shelves are held in place by plastic nubs (four in total each, two per side). This is really no issue for collections of a predominately paperback nature, but where the heavier hardbacks come in, you might be biting your nails a bit. It WILL hold... but there's always that thought in your mind "for how long?" I'd've preferred metal nubs.

2) The two non-centre shelves really do feel as if they are not capable of carrying the same weight as the centre shelf and because of the plastic clips holding them in place, I feel leery of putting any of my heavier reads on anything but the centre shelf, which makes for some awkward book arrangement. Also, the backing of the bookcase is very thin just barely more durable that cardboard. That said, you can only expect so much for such a low pricetag. For the US$60 I spent on this, I really can't complain all that much about the build quality. It's more than reasonable for the price.

3. The shelves come in pieces from the vendor. It would appear that the producer of the product doesn't really care too much about sawdust, because the pieces were covered in them. I had to take a dry wash-cloth to the boards to free them of their dusty blight. If you have allergies to dust or sawdust, you might be sneezing for a few hours after assembly.

Rich vibrant deep pure black which makes it look real elegant. Comes with a 5 year warranty and customer service is great and helpful. The price with free shipping from amazon how can it be too expensive? This is my second shelf from south shore, i bought the 3 shelf one a while back. The packaging is solid and the design does pay attention to details like thick front panels top and bottom and black caps to seal off visable screw holes makes it look more elegant.

Oh almost forgot, my 3 tier shelf did started sagging just a tad bit with only heavier books, but not a big deal since the shelves are meant to work on both sides i just flipped it over and it'll straight itself out! i didn't expect real wood at this price.

First off, be warned that the box will be *very* heavy. If you need to carry this a distance or up flights of stairs, you will almost definitely need someone to help you.

The packaging was very secure, and all of the small screws and things were separated nicely in a bag. Several of the pieces that were supposed to be labeled were not, so I had to guess which was which, but it turned out fine.

The instructions were very easy to follow, and assembly should not actually require more than one person, but I got my brother to help to be sure I didn't mess anything up it's something I would do.

I can definitely see that some of the other reviews are right in saying the shelves sag very easily. I bought this as a display case for some trinkets and figures though, so I wasn't concerned about it.

I rated it a four just for some minor gripes, and since I didn't want to blow hundreds of dollars for a nice bookshelf, I think I got what I paid for.

This has been the most miserable thing to install. We have 8 foot ceilings in our bathroom. The packaging states that it works for up to 8 foot 1 inch. We can not get it to tension to stay up at all. We finally got it installed, though not the way it is intended to be installed. We used command hooks to hold up the top compartment that is currently keeping it steady up. We also went and got gripper feet for the bottom hoping it would help, which didn't because we still could not get enough tension to hold it in place.

We have had and used other over the toilet shelves before. This is the biggest piece of junk I have ever seen. Don't waste your money on it. I have a feeling it will be headed to the trash sooner than later.

I have a very small and compact bathroom that's as wide as my bathtub and about two feet longer than the tub's length. When I replaced my toilet last fall, the old, metal shelving unit I had no longer fit.

This cabinet was the only thing I could find that would fit the space. It's light-weight and assembly was relatively simple. It doesn't have as much capacity as my old unit did and because it's plastic, I'm hesitant to place too much stuff on the shelves. 60-Inch Black Glass Metal TV Stand

First of all the product arrives in 2 boxes, one weighing in at 80lbs, the other about 30.

There are four black tempered glass sheets, two large (top and bottom) and two small the two middle shelves. 'Each' of the upright cylinders are made of metal, and once built is very solid.

Assembling the table is very simple, even if the instructions are small and very simple, it goes together quickly. About the hardest part in assembling the unit is removing the protective film from each piece.

On purchase it was said to be delivered in 7-10 days, it arrived in 3, thankfully. I wanted it before the TV arrived, and I just finished building it. More to come when the TV arrives.

My TV has since arrived, the Pioneer KURO PDP-6010FD 60" 1080p Plasma HDTV, and it fits quite nicely on the table. The table is quite sturdy and doesn't seem overburdened by the TV which weighs in at about 140lbs.

I wanted to add a bit about the dimensions of the shelves, since that might influence buyers. There are three central shelves seen in the picture. The bottom two are the same dimensions at:

H: 5 3/4"

W: 25 3/8" (18 1/4" pole to pole, ie the space your component would have to fit in sliding in from the front)

D: 19 1/2" (12 3/4" pole to pole)

The top shelf has the same Width and Depth as the bottom two the height is:

H: 6 7/8"

There is an optional plate along the back from top to bottom behind the three shelves, for apparently hiding your cables; which prevents easy access to the backs of your components, but I did note that it is optional and doesn't provide any support so could be easily removed if you desired.

The two large speaker bookshelf compartments to either side of the three shelves are the same in size measuring:

H: 19 1/16"

W: 10 1/8" (the 2 inner shelves protrude into the space)

D: 19 1/2" (12 3/4" pole to pole)

Overall with the large screen atop it, black in color with the black stand, the table is an attractive compliment to the TV.

I purchased this stand for my 70in flat screen TV, and this stand handles it effortlessly. There is ample room for components, including a Tivo DVR, Playstation 3, and XBox 360. Not much else to say, other than I am happy with this purchase.

I assembled this without any asstance and admit that there were a few moments when I struggled with the sheer weight of the semi-assembled stand. First, as some others have stated, this unit is very heavy. The tempered glass is at least 1/4" thick. I put it together myself in about 2 hours. Assembly was a breeze.

The only thing I would suggest is to make the Cable Track in the back should be 16" wide. If you have several components, it is hard to hide all the cords behind the 6" Track.

Moen LR2356DCH Home Care 16-Inch Grab Bar with Shelf

I purchased and installed 2 of these units in the past month. Excellent quality. Both of my installations were able to be made with mounting screws into wood studs behind the tiled wall. The mounting is solid and looks nice. I used a 5/16" diameter tile drill bit to go through the tile. Then I switched to a 5/16" masonary bit to clear the concrete board behind the tiles. A smaller wood bit was the last step to put a pilot hole in the wood stud. No problem but drilling through tile is nerve wracking--you can't press hard with the drill or you risk breaking the tile and must squirt water with a little spray bottle on the rotating bit to cool it down. I have found that the $10 tile bits (from Lowe's) are only good for drilling about 4 holes then they lose their carbide cutting edges and must be replaced.

I mounted the unit with #12 x 2 inch stainless steel pan head screws using two screws on each end of the bar. Luckily so far I have hit 4 out of 4 wood studs. Using a stud finder above the tile wall (above where the tile meets the drywall) and projecting the stud lines down with a level carefully and double checking several times before making that first hole. If you are using screws into the wood studs you don't have to buy the 1 1/4" tile hole saw to drill a hole for Moen's anchor system mentioned in the instructions. Their anchor system looks nicely designed but I have not had to go that route yet as I have been successful using the stud finder. Remember tiles are brittle and therefore somewhat fragile---don't over tighten mounting screws or over do the drilling speed or pressure on the bit. Moderate all impulses to muscle it.

After a heart attack almost 2 years ago and now a botched middle ear surgery, I find myself unable to balance just walking much less during my in & out shower/bath duties. Seeing this available on Vine I JUMPED at the chance to get this. I admit I need it for balance more than support of my 6'2" 220 pound old body but given the number of times I fall per week, it's importance should not be discounted....As someone who prided himself on big wave surfing, roller blades, ice hockey and WAY too many other sports to mention, having the sudden loss of hearing & balance has been nothing less than traumatic.

This installed easily in my tub/shower fiberglass enclosure. I chose to NOT use the plastic tray since all I needed was a balance support. Installing this grab bar was the first and, I hope, the last time I ever have to use a ceramic hole saw. The instructions call for using a tile cutting hole saw to wet cut two 1 1/4" holes in the tile of your shower or bath which took me well over an hour to do as I slowly ground them out. I'm sure more experienced cutters would have made shorter work of this, but it was hard for me as a novice. As it turned out, if I had known the geography of my shower wall, I could have made use of a fire break between the studs to get away with just cutting a 1/4" hole with a tile drill on one end. So I ended up using the enclosed anchor for one end of the bar, and angling up with a long wood screw to secure the other end. What you want to avoid is any situation where you drill a large hole for the included anchor without at least 3 inches of head room, that is a no man's land which will lead to a time consuming repair job.

I doubt that anyone frail enough to require a grab bar is going to be able to install this themselves, it was exhausting holding my heavy but long lasting 20V Max Dewalt cordless drill against the wall for so long while keeping the bit wet.

Regardless I tested it with half my body weight (approximately 90 lbs of force) and it flexed just a little so it should hold up to any stress needed for getting up off the shower seat or any gymnastics my monkeys (kids) plan on making use of it. I had thought I might need to put some silicon around the edges, but it seems to be fairly self-sealing in terms of keeping water out of the wall. I'll keep an eye on it.

Mainly, I wanted it as a shelf for my toiletries, and for that it is well designed, my wife can even put her hair clips around the thinner bars holding up the shelf. And I like the ability to take the plastic tray out for cleaning, and that there is room between the shelf and the wall for cleaning the tile.

So, I can recommend this for anyone needing support to get in and out of their shower or bath. It may be too much of a pain to install just for the added shelving, but now that the effort has faded in my memory, I'm very happy with my handiwork and the added convenient place to store my various hygiene products.

This is a grab bar, and as a grab bar, it does its thing and does it well. It looks nice and build quality seems good. Time will have more to say on this issue ....

What is super nice about this particular design is the integration of the shelf. This helps in two distinct ways:

1. The space is used in a practical way

2. Because you use the space, you are training your brain of where to grab and where it is in a spacial orientation way. That way, when and if, you do need to grab the bar in a hurry you know where it is without looking.

So for #2, this is super important and gives you a higher advantage of catching yourself, or at the very least, saving time reaching around for the handle.

It attaches easily. However, if you are not a handy person, have it professionally installed. You don't want this coming out of the wall when you really need it.

I'm using these for storage of odd items on bookcase shelves. They are just the right depth, placed sideways. They aren't very sturdy looking so I wouldn't try to transport anything in them. They are a very light, off white, color. The color is lighter than I would have liked but I couldn't find anything similar in Tan. I'd buy them again.

Cheap, cheap, cheap. These were more expensive then the ones at the name brand chain store but made 100x worse. I should have just gone to the store. These collapse when touched and came soiled. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. I plan to return them and buy new ones. Also the dimensions are incorrect.

Home Styles St Croix Pier/Audio Cabinet, Black

I purchased this to hold audio equipment and was able to get free shipping which saved $91! I was very excited by this. Our TV is above our fireplace and wanted a piece of furniture to hold the usually equipment: Amp, Cable Box, PS3, Wii, Squeezebox, and a HTPC. First I'll touch on the install. I put this together by myself and it went fairly well, seem like it was well made...except... the top curved piece did not line up with the one side rail. I over looked this as it wasn't that noticeable. The storage drawer rubs the decretive piece above it, this is rather annoying. I tried adjusting all kinds of things but still doesn't fix the issue. I will have sand down the decorative piece and stain it to match, very disappointed (minus one star). I've purchased a lot of boxed furniture in the past and this is definitely on the higher end of the scale.

Now onto the functionality and why it lost another star. The space in-between the two side rails is not wide enough to slide the amp and cable box through without tilting them a good bit to fit them in the front. If you're going to call this an audio cabinet, how about audio equipment can slide through the front of it! For almost $400 I am very disappointed. I had to cut a section of the back board off and slide equipment in the back as I would have had to have the cable box and amp sitting outside of the cabinet to hook the wires up and I then would not have been able to angle both of them to fit them into the cabinet. I cut about 1.5 Ft off the back board so I could see all the jacks on the amp and cable box. This worked well as the equipment blocks most of the back.

This would have been perfect if it was an inch or two wider and more care was taken with manufacturing so the drawer worked properly. This doesn't work for much more than a deep bookshelf and should be advertised as such. I guess this is the price I pay for buying furniture online, won't make that mistake again. Should have waiting for a sale at a local furniture store.

The cabinet is good for its price. It is sturdy, but not very sturdy; after all, it is made out of particle board wood. The color is more like black, but I don't mind. I am using it as a stand near my computer desk to hold a speaker on top of it, a sub-woofer on the upper big shelf, and a modem, router, and external hard drive on the bottom two small shelves. The cabinet's height is perfect for the speaker location because it is just slightly higher than my desk. I of course removed the two cloth containers from the bottom shelves and am using them for storing other things elsewhere.

This is cheap K-mart looking at best.... made from the same "wood" that Kmart uses. Put together with wooden dowels and wood glue. Shelf is held in with screws but there are no screw covers so there are open screw heads in the side. If you are looking for a cheap looking product I would recommend this. If you want a product that you would actually be proud to have in your house for a reasonable price check out other options. Even the bins are made of a fabric that appears to be "mesh like" and looks as though it would rip easily.

The description says Espresso Finish but it is more of a black color with brown drawers. ClosetMaid 6-Cube Organizer

I bought two of these 6-cube organizers for my closet. I wanted something more substantial than plastic, a solid surface rather than wire, less expensive than wood, and the ability to have drawers or use them as open storage. They're perfect for sweaters, t-shirts, shorts, sweatshirts, purses, etc. The cubes are a good size not too big so you don't have wasted space and not too small for bulkier sweaters or sweatshirts. With the cute drawers you can buy separately, they're also great for storing socks, hats, gloves, scarves. I could see how they'd be great organizers for people who do crafts, or for kids toys, office supplies, laundry supplies, linens, bathroom supplies. And they seem sturdy enough for books as well. They were easy to put together once I figured out how things connect together. It took me less than 30 minutes for the first one, and maybe 15 for the second. I did use a power drill with a driver bit for the screws, but that's because I'm lazy and it's faster that way. Nailing the cardboard backing on took more time than expected because there are so many small nails to hold the pieces in place, but that does make the backings sturdier. All the pre-drilled holes lined up correctly, all the dowels fit properly. The plastic screw covers stay on if you tap them with a hammer to set them in place. It is laminate on particle-board, so you aren't getting fine furniture, but these are great for getting the most out of your closet space. I'll definitely be buying more of these or some of the other cube configurations for my other closets.

I love using these as bookcases, since they won't warp under the weight of even the heaviest textbooks. I've used three of the 8-cube organizers for nearly a decade, and they've survived numerous moves across the country. I recently bought this 6-cube organizer to fit into an odd nook in my home office, and I was pleased to see that it matches my previous organizers.

These are obviously particle board with laminate, but they are good quality and they are sturdy. They are very easy to put together, and assembly takes less than 20 minutes if you use an electric screwdriver. I don't bother with the screw covers, since they fall off easily.

It's important to note that the maple color has been discontinued, so pick a different color if you want to be able to expand your collection in the future. The alder color seems to be ClosetMaid's replacement in the same general color family, but it definitely doesn't match the maple organizers.

If you want to save money, check Target, Walmart, Lowes, and Home Depot before buying these online. Obviously, Amazon's shipping cost has to get wrapped into the price somehow, and these cost $20-$30 to ship due to their weight.

I love this product. Got mine on sale at Target for $40. Super easy to put together. My 4-yr-old helped me. Looks great in the kids' room with the little fabric drawers that sell separately. I'm thinking about buying another.

These cubes are sturdy and they do what I need them to do. They are, of course, cheap veneer and the screw covers didn't even stay on long enough to get it to the room I have it in. But I bought it for my laundry room, not for showpiece furniture, so I don't mind.

The only problem is that the paint come off easily.

Very good storage bins. Have purchased these in the past and and very satisfied with them again. This is the best brand to buy for stackable bins.

I use these to keep supplies handy. I wish they had a snap together feature so I they can be moved as a unit once put together. I'll have to strap them or tape them up to do this. Good thing I did some additional research on these and got the dimension I needed—the floor length. If I went with the basic dimensions, the supplies I have wouldn't sit nicely inside because they would be longer than the floor length.

I've got one of the blue bins, it looks great just like the picture. It feels really tough, rugged, and no weak points. As I said, a great bin but I only got one, the problem is the description says 12. One bin is kinda useless, and a pretty rotten deal. I don't know how well these bins stack, but the one I do have is pretty secure on the floor right now.

I'm working with Amazon and Shoplet to see if this problem can be worked out.

End result, "oops" (aka "unit of measure issue"). They are giving me a refund.

I originally understandably rated this at one star .. since they straightened it out I'm give it three stars.

Quick - Shelf Hangers Three Shelf 16" Deep Wall Mount Shelving Unit

This is a very nifty product. I moved into a new home and needed garage shelving, but was on a limited budget. I bought 4 of these units and they worked out great! Easy to install and an inexpensive way to build shelves. I went to home depot and bought 2 pieces of 4'x8' x .70" plywood. then had home depot cut the plywood into 4' x 16" inch pieces (for free), you get an even 6 pieces out of each purchsed piece of plywood. So I ended up with 12, 4 foot shelves. Very nice product!

I was a bit skeptical to order such inexpensive shelves for my garage, but decided to give Quick-Shelf shelves a try. I can't believe how sturdy, easy to install, and inexpensive they are. It's ridiculous how this company is not sold in every home improvement store. They are not designed to be designer "sexy" looking shelves, but they actually look really cool in the garagealmost like floating boards. It's amazing how much weight they can handle. I strongly recommend these, and the other Quick-Shelf shelves for your garage, attic, closet, basement, etc... as I have now ordered 5 sets in varying sizes for multiple rooms in my home... and will undoubtedly order more as my storage needs grow over time. Just make sure you have the necessary tools when installing these and the ceiling mount ones. I would recommend: a stud finder (just a cheap one will work), cordless or corded drill with a 3/16" drill bit, a phillips head bit for the drill, a 5/16" socket for the drill (for installing the lag screws) or just a crescent wrench will work, a tape measure and a level. Quality construction, made in America, easy, inexpensive... what more do you need?

Strong, mounts to wall if desired, versatile, and comes with an adhesive tape ruler to use when unspooling wire, or rope or whatever you've got mounted.

One item I want to point out is that it came un-assembled in a tightly compact box. I was afraid it was going to be all bent up and dented by the time it arrived, but since it was tightly packed, it arrived in perfect shape.

Five stars for multiple reasons.

I titled this review as "Almost" Perfect, because honestly, it probably should be $15 less. Nevertheless, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Was trying to find a good looking caddy that wasn't ridiculously priced (was 50% off when purchased)this one is definitely pretty but could be improved with sturdiness. The pole unit bends with the tension, creating movement when you take heavier bottles on and off. Also, WARNING: you will need a metal cutter if your ceiling is lower than 7'8" due to the pole installation design. The instructions have it as part of the installation requirements, stating "if there is too much tension, a tube may need to be cut." Not sure about you, but that's not a tool we had lying around our apartment.

When this item was delivered it one of the welds had broken. I inspected the unit and realized that it is put together very cheaply. Small tack welds. For such an expensive caddy you would think it would be quality. It's not!

I ordered this item because of two excellent reviews and it looked great in picture. I think the TV cart may still turn out to be good but I had horrible problem trying to assemble it.

First of all, the packing material is terrible. Some of styrofoam panels were paper thin & severely frayed. As a result, as soon as I opened the box, pieces of styrofoam flew out like feathers and made a big mess all over the place.

More importantly, several crucial pieces are missing without which you can neither complete the assembly nor run to local hardware store to buy a replacement! I can understand one missing screw but a whole panel & it's fasteners??

The so-called assembly instructions are woefully inadequate and, get this, do not give any contact information about the manufacturer!

I guess I will try to contact the retailer (not Amazon) for help.

I got online to give this item ZERO stars. My husband and I were putting it together and nothing was labeled. The directions are poor. BUT once we put it together, it is wonderful. It is sturdy, gorgeous looking and was just what we wanted. So we give it 5 stars even though it gave us a minor headache to put it together. It is definitely worth the effort.

A good, sturdy, attractive stand. As another reviewer said, it may give some a bit of a think when trying to put it together (although that may vary by your spatial capabilities; I, personally, didn't have any problems, although that wasn't by help of the instructions). But I've been exceptionally pleased with mine, having owned it for a few months now; mine holds a 40" HD television and is more than capable of taking this weight, although of course the stand isn't as wide as the tv. I would certainly recommend it to others who are looking for a simple sturdy yet elegant glass stand of this size.
