The other reviewer gave this product one star because it costs more than buying direct from an iKea store. However, try buying it online from iKea and see the outrageous shipping costs. Buying from an online merchant costs a lot less than having it shipped from ikea. Personally, I am very happy someone has figured out a way to save me money while making a little for their trouble,

The ikea exedit shelving units are my favorite. I love the cubed look and the dark wood. It Is extremely functional for my needs and it is the reason it was worth the extra money to have it shipped here. Even with that extra cost, I find it cheaper than some of the local alternatives that I do not like nearly as much.

Putting it together takes a bit of time, but the effort is worth it.

It's annoying that when people are upset with the price of something, they give the actual product a lower review...

That being said, I happen to live close to an Ikea store and bought this there yesterday. Obviously, it was significantly cheaper than the price listed here, but this package was EXTREMELY heavy. Both amazon and Ikea have to charge a hefty fee for shipping these because of how heavy and huge they are to ship.

When we got the unit home, it took my husband about 40 minutes to put it together. The instructions are easy and the only difficult part about putting it together is that it uses lots of dowels instead of screws, so you have to line up everything exactly and use a little upper body strength to muscle the pieces together.

This shelf looks fantastic in our living room. I am so pleased with the purchase. I considered some cheaper units at big box stores, but I'm so glad I went with this one. The others were so thin and flimsy looking and had visible screws along the top. The Expedit unit looks so nice as a piece of furniture, and is substantial and not flimsy at all. We bought the black-brown color and placed it horizontally. We also bought 4 of the collapsible baskets that fit perfectly in the cubbies for my kid's toys and clutter. You would never know they use that area of the living room as a play room. When we clean up at the end of the day, no more toy clutter and our living room looks beautiful again! I'm sure once the kids are older, we can continue to use the shelf to display books and knick knacks. And I love that you can use it horizontally or vertically, too.

This shelf is great, very versatile, and looks very nice. I would recommend it to anyone looking for this cubby-type of storage. Obviously, it will be much cheaper for you if you can buy it from an Ikea store. But if you can't, it's still a great buy and much cheaper than other similar storage sold from high-end stores.

We bought this shelving unit after looking at several similar products at Lowes, Target and Walmart. What this unit has that others do not is a thicker outside frame that give it a more modern feel. It also looks more solid and expensive than other similar units. We have one 8-cube shelf with a few books and storage baskets in our living room, two more in my office that hold my professional literature, and we're about to buy another to go under a mounted flat-screen t.v.non our bedroom. I highly recommend this unit for its clean lines, functionality in terms of storage and modern style. Fabulous!

Great bookcase, it just what we were looking for. The problem was that it didn't come with dowels or screws. Having to go out and find and buy the hardware for this made it not worth it but returning it didn't really seem like a good option either, with having to repack all the boards. Waiting for them to send the hardware kit meant dealing with a bookcase kit on the floor in the middle of the living room. It was a total pain.

I purchased two (2) of these narrow mahogany bookcases for my bathroom.

Yes, bathroom! They were very reasonable and instead of a cabinet on legs

surrounding the toilet, I came up with this idea. They are 12 x 12 and the

perfect size to fit in the space. The shelves are adjustable and the mahogany

color matches the rest of the bathroom cabinetry. I purchased beige canvas

boxes to store toiletries, cosmetics, hand towels, etc. which were inexpensive

at the dollar store and conceal perfectly. With the capability of 5 to 6 shelves

of storage, the alternate shelves are great for magazines and nick-nacs. I have

a fern plant at the very top of one and a pretty wicker basket on top of the other.

A long thin picture is on the space in between the two cabinets, right above the

toilet. It is now a very attractive area. I am very pleased with the quality

of the cabinets. The mahagony was exactly as advertised and the delivery service

to my door was excellent. I highly recommend this product!

This Elura bookcase came with the screw inserts missing in one side panel. Calling the 800 number resulted in a wishy washy response that she would email the company that I needed these parts with no idea how long it would take to get them. Since they were part of a bigger part, she was not even sure what they were. The bookecase cannot be assembled without them, and they were not responsive at all.

I've bought and assembled many of these kits, but have alsways had the parts available. Now it has to sit in the living room, half together, until someday the parts come.

I love this rack for many reasons, but foremost is it holds two dozen 750ml bottles in a tight space. In fact, the 'footprint' is less than two and a half feet by less than one and a half feet. Perfect for cramped quarters.

Assembly was a breeze. I did not have to refer to the instructions, and everything fit perfectly which indicates to me a high degree of manufacturing quality. One thing I did before assembling was to check that every piece mated properly and that nothing was broken. Once I was satisfied that I did not need to return it I wiped each component down with Old English Lemon Oil. This added step was well worth it because instead of a merely functional wine rack I now have an attractive piece of furniture.

Another thing I love about this rack is it's rock steady. In fact, the more bottles you store, the steadier it becomes. Of course the small table top is a plus I have a Chicago Cutlery 8-Piece Wine and Cheese Knife Set and coasters stored on the top.

Having heard about problems with some brands of stemware fitting the slots under the table top I was concerned, but I guess it's more of a problem with high end stems. I populated mine with Libbey brand with no problems.

For the price you cannot beat this for both beauty and function. Do be aware that some 1.5 liter (and larger) bottles will not fit properly in the rack, but if you mostly buy wines in 750ml bottles you will probably love this as much as I do.

The final product is okay. The assembly directions were very poor. Plus one of the screw holes was stripped so I'm not too certain about the unit's stability at full capacity. Also, the slots for hanging stemmed wine glasses were very small and all different sizes. Most of our wine glasses will not fit.

It's a shelf. It's strong enough for what I need. That's it! This sentence is here so that I meet the minimum word requirement.

We live in a small apartment and as you can imagine that means a small kitchen with limited cabinet space. Before buying this we would store all of our mugs/cups in the lower shelf of one cabinet followed by our plates on the 2nd shelf of the same cabinet, and our bowls stacked on top of the plates. Having things set up like this made it difficult at times to reach for the plates and bowls because they were higher up. But there certainly wasn't any room to store them elsewhere. I had even tried switching the cups to the 2nd shelf and plates & bowls to the first, but then the cups in the back were way too difficult to reach and put away. Then I ordered this shelf. Now I have our mugs beneath it, plates on top, bowls to the right hand side next to it with a few cups in front of the bowls all on the first shelf! The rest of our tall glasses I placed on the 2nd shelf of the cabinet. Of course the cups on the second shelf are sometimes difficult to reach(esp those in the back), but at least everything else we need is all there on the first shelf. I am so glad I bought this!

I bought this item for $179 on Amazon.com. The price has since gone up to $279.

The item was well packaged as far as the shipment goes, and was easy to put together with no hick-ups. As for the quality, well, it's decent. If you look up close you can see some dents on the corners of the wood and see how the paint was slightly abraded off the front edge of one of the shelves. If you're just looking at it in the room, it looks decent.

As far as strength, it definitely seems solid and strong. I've only got a 40" TV on it but it should hold a larger one with no problem it looks pretty sturdy.

Bottom line, for under $200 I'm definitely satisfied with it. I wouldn't pay the $279 it's up to now (as of 12/8/10).

Product was very cheap looking and of bad quality, Amazon return was great, and is one of the many reasons why I always shop from them.

I purchased this item after comparing size, functionality, style, and ease of ordering. I have searched the 'Swedish assemble yourself stores' and other regular furniture shops in and around Chicago. On Amazon I found the Sonax NP 1608 Bench for Flat panel TV sets sized 42" to 68". At first I thought this would be just perfect since the syling was clean and minimal. The pecan front door and chrome handle looks better in real life vs. the pictures, and will go well with many living room sets. You know what? I was pleasantly surprised.

Here are the goods:

1. Delivery UPS won't bring it up three flights of stairs, but no big deal if you are on your own. Simply open the package and bring up the pieces individually it took about 4 trips. There was no damage to the unit as the manufacturer/seller actually put protective corners along the four long edges of exterior of the box, thus preventing any corner damage. KUDOS!

2. Assembly very easy, I did it by myself and slid it up to its final space on my own. The trick here is to lie your bench on the cardboard box it came in (opened up flat)and then take the styrofoam pieces and lay them on the ends and place your panel(s) on that as well, this will protect your floors when you slide your unit, and it will protect your new boards from getting micro scratch marks that you would get when you slide the boards on the bare floor or even in direct contact with the cardboard. The styrofoam will give you an inch off the ground and allow you to assemble your unit with ease.

Assembly instructions were very easy to follow, it took me a half hour to complete with only a screw driver and hammer.

3. Style Clean dual toned to match most living rooms and tastes. A simple clean design compliments the flat panel TV look.

4. Sturdy Construction I noticed the boards and hardware were all first grade which is typical for Canadian made products. The unit itself weighs in at 55kgs or roughly 110 lbs, so this is not cheap particleboard. Remember, I am comparing to the Swedish giant store products.

5. Price at around $200 this was well worth the money as I would have paid more elsewhere for less quality.

Here is the not so good:

1. I took the 'free' delivery and it took almost two weeks to arrive, when it did come in I had to bring it upstairs myself. At least I didn't have to try to bring it home from a store remember it weighs 110 lbs (55kgs). I suppose this 'not so good' isn't such a bad thing either except for the wait time.

This is a particle-board, cam-and-bolt, assemble-it-yourself unit. It's attractive, sturdy, and goes together easily; one person can assemble it in a couple of hours. If you want fine furniture, look elsewhere; if you need something nice-looking but relatively cheap to put a big flat-screen on, this fills the bill.

The problem is that, as at least one other review indicates, it gets damaged in shipping. On my unit the rear of the top shelf was banged up; some of the black veneer came off, revealing the particle-board beneath. It's not too bad and the location is inconspicuous, so I'm lucky; others may not fare as well. My advice is to look for this is a local store.

As a loyal and frequent Amazon customer for years, I have to say that shipping on larger or more fragile items sold by or through Amazon is not always adequate, and that Amazon's response to the problem is mostly to ignore it.

I recently ordered this for my apartment and I must say, over all it's pretty nice.

The item ships flat packed and the assembly is fairly straight forward (think IKEA).

It wasn't too difficult assembling myself, although having a second set of hands would have made it that much easier.

I laid it down on the foam and cardboard it shipped with during assembly.

While the item is made of a heavy particle board, if feels very sturdy.

It has a very clean look to it, the top has a nice open design to showcase your electronics while providing easy access to your cabling from the back. The bottom section is sectioned out into three different spaces just like the top, but provides a good place to hide your cables and power adapters. The bench came with three panels to attach to the back of the unit. The panels don't have precut holes in them, however this wasn't an issue for me since I didn't use them. I've added a few pictures to show what this bench looks like, my cell phone camera doesn't quite do justice, it looks way nicer in person.

I also order 2x Waxman 4700595N Furniture sliders and 1x Waxman 4701295N 2-1/2-Inch Self-Stick Square Super Sliders, Oatmeal to make it easier to slide around.

This is a very nifty product. I moved into a new home and needed garage shelving, but was on a limited budget. I bought 4 of these units and they worked out great! Easy to install and an inexpensive way to build shelves. I went to home depot and bought 2 pieces of 4'x8' x .70" plywood. then had home depot cut the plywood into 4' x 16" inch pieces (for free), you get an even 6 pieces out of each purchsed piece of plywood. I was a bit skeptical to order such inexpensive shelves for my garage, but decided to give Quick-Shelf shelves a try. I can't believe how sturdy, easy to install, and inexpensive they are. Just make sure you have the necessary tools when installing these and the ceiling mount ones. I would recommend: a stud finder (just a cheap one will work), cordless or corded drill with a 3/16" drill bit, a phillips head bit for the drill, a 5/16" socket for the drill (for installing the lag screws) or just a crescent wrench will work, a tape measure and a level. Quality construction, made in America, easy, inexpensive... what more do you need?

This is a great decorative shelf. Only reason I am giving it an "okay" rating is because the hanging hardware was not included.

Purchased this shelf and was sorely disappointed in what I received. It is literally a hollow box made of paper thin wood that is glued and nailed together. The unit arrived with the glue having sprung in several areas, or having been left to dry in clumps at the seams and then painted over. The finish was worn off in several places due to the fact that the shelf has ZERO packing to protect it inside the manufacturer's box. My recommendation: spend a few more dollars, you get what you pay for.

Horrible. This shelf looks a lot nicer in pictures than it is. If feels like it hollow and is made of balsa wood. It was only $30-$40 (Can't remember exactly) so I suppose you do get what you pay for. when you take it out of the box it looks as cheap as it feels. I ended up throwing mine away and getting a better quality shelf (go buy any piece of real wood and paint it and you will have a better shelf).

First up for those politically minded, this is NOT from China, but Malaysia.

White plastic poles and nice light laminate pattern. Bright and cheery. The chipboard/particle board construction is typical for this grade of furniture. The tubes are cheap plastic, but sturdy enough as long as you don't try to overload the whole thing. You can cram it full of paperback books and it'll hold up on the lower levels. The top is good for another fifty pounds or so without worry, just don't torque the thing if you've got 150 pounds or more on it.

Instructions are decent enough pictographs, with typical "Engrish": "ceneter" instead of center for instance. I was a bit surprised to see that glue was needed for the dowels and edge on the center piece vs cams, but was pleasantly surprised to find a perfectly sized tube of Elmer's like glue included. Took about ten minutes to put together, including going through the instructions first to make sure I didn't have anything backwards. You could bang twelve of them out in an hour if you were trying.

The laminate is also typical. 5 of 6 sides covered, but the shelf bottoms are unfortunately not also laminated. There's a slight overlap on one "edge" of the shelves. Not very noticeable, but make sure to put them all at the "back" of the shelf for best viewing. Not necessary, it's minor, but worth noting ahead of time. You CAN unscrew the poles and repack the topmost section if needed. You CAN assemble it with just 2/3 shelves in place and you CAN leave the center divider out if you wanted to for some reason (it'd be less strong though for very heavy loads). You can NOT really stack them. It's unsafe with any of these kinds of shelves, but especially impractical with these do to the "pole hat" caps since they aren't flush.

The "bins" are fabric, cheap fabric wrapped on cardboard. Consider getting the model without them for a couple bucks less, but they're attractive enough in medium light and sturdy enough for filling with light things (not books).

Unlike the 99132 model, this one came with plastic "hat" caps for the poles, I like these better personally, but it adds a millimeter in height where the poles are and they ARE required.

For under two "Andrew Jacksons", it's tough to beat. I'm using it as an "island" to support a desk extension and it is superior to what I could build for the purpose for that price, even if my time was worthless.

Now how about a click on that "helpful" button?

This is the easiest assembly I have ever encountered had it together in under 10 minutes with no need for tools, and the overall construction is very sturdy and dependable. The white bars are heavy duty plastic, and the bins are not that sturdy. However, this is perfect for what I needed.

This shelf was easy to put together. It took about ten minutes and no tools were necessary. Everything screws together and the dowel holes are pre-drilled. Glue is included for the dowels, which anchor a board between the bins. The shelves are 12" deep and 24" across. The bins, made of a plastic fabric, stand upright and are good for light supplies; they measure 9-1/2 inches across, 12" high and 11" deep. The middle shelf is 13" high, tall enough for hardcover books. The plastic pipes have a bit of an unpleasant odor, but that clears away after a while.

It would be easy to spend two or three times as much on a little shelf, but this one is great for any number of light jobs. I use it to shelve my gardening books, putting seeds and supplies in the bins and a plant or two on top. It would easily be sturdy enough for a printer, or to hold plants.

Check the bottom back slat to make sure that it is high enough to fit the toilet water cables . That was the reason I gave only 4 stars.

I like to have a home for everything and this does the trick. Space savers are not deep enough to hold bath towels however they are great for everything else

I use totes to store the large amount of varied things I get and the fact that I support about 5 computers (custom made) with parts and the like, have like many people all kinds of extra "stuff" lying about that can be boxed.

These totes can hold a great amount of weight, so far the most I put in one is about 75lbs and it did not effect it. Their frames also allow you to in a hurry put heavier boxes atop the lighter ones (though I am sure there is something to re-stacking your stored items for heavier on the bottom) I am just saying you can get away with it with these (I have had such stacks for a few weeks) before re-stacking them.

I use an inventory system that assigns a tote a tote ID which corresponds to an Access Database which has information about what is in each tote.

I have 10 of these (have ordered 2 5 packs) and will order more if my storage needs grow.

Very fair price for buying 5 at once (ended up in my case having Prime, and these being Prime Eligible ) at about $14 per Tote.

That is under what stores charge around here for similar tote, and I don't have to go pick them up.

Sturdy, reliable and the lids are great and the locking system for the lids is superior to snap on varieties.

I purchased ten of these totes and was very pleased. They are clean looking and sturdy. Would recommend these totes to everyone.

These containers are nice and sturdy. Also they stack very nicely. Driftwood is a wierd name it has a slightly grey-brown color to it with creamy looking handles. Would buy more and would recommend =)
