Household Essentials 01812 Six-Shelf Canvas Sweater Organizer

This review is to let potential buyers know that this product has changed from its original design, and yet at the time of this review neither the picture, nor the Product Features, nor the Amazon.com review have been updated to reflect the change.

I bought one of these in Dec. 2004 and it is exactly as pictured with canvas shelves. When you feel the shelves, you can tell that they have hardboard sandwiched between them making a durable surface that does not sag. I just purchased a second one and opened it today (May 2008) and while the top is still canvas-covered hardboard, the shelves are now plastic.

I came back here to see if I'd accidentally ordered a cheaper version, but the model number is the same. Whitney has indeed changed their design, and to be fair I see now that if you scroll all the way down to the Product Description under the Amazon.com review, it's been updated to "6 Shelf, Sweater Organizer With Plastic Shelves...". But keeping the original picture and Product Features, which only show and mention canvas, is highly misleading.

I tested out the plastic shelves and they do not compare to the original that I own which is still going strong (no sagging). Plus of course, it doesn't match. I will be returning this. Hope this helps others make a more informed buying decision.

This closet organizer is wonderful! It's really sturdy and attaches with strong velcro. I have a huge collection of jeans and t-shirts that are all really easy to find now. They are not strong enough to hold 6 full shelves of jeans, so I have 3 shelves of jeans on the bottom and 3 shelves of t-shirts on top. I got 2 of these becase they are really compact and about 1/4 the price of any others that I found. Plus the free shipping makes these a must have for any cluttered closet.

I love this product in terms of its space saving value. However, I was a bit disappointed that the overall construction of the product wasn't as sturdy as I had expected. When I placed the sweaters in the various compartments, the whole frame sagged under the weight and the top of the first shelf arched out of shape. I ended up using the product for lighter items like T-shirts and scarves.

I purchased these because of all the wonderful reviews it received on Amazon. While they are alright, I didn't find them all that extraordinary. I wish the "shelves" were sturdier and I wish that the velcro was wider so that it wraps tightly around the rods in my closet. Since they're not tight around the rod, they tend to swing back and forth and that bothers me. I guess I'll have to buy some velcro and adjust it myself. All in all it is a good product, it's handy and cheaper than others. I would not purchase them again though.

This organizer is the perfect addition to my closet. I use it to hold sweaters, T-shirts, and pants. I used to store these items on the shelf of my closet; so this organizer has freed up that space for other items.

The shelves are made of thin, firm plastic; so they hardly sag under the weight of the clothes. Some hanging organizers have canvas shelves, which don't support the clothes nearly as well.

This organizer holds a lot of items in very little space and for a very reasonable price -a very worthwile purchase!

The product was OK, but didn't fit my post, so I had to return it. I found out that the 1-inch dimension refers to the diameter of the post, not the clip. But it wasn't so I measured the external dimension of the clip I had, ordered the wrong part and had to return it. Minus 1-start for bad product description.

Not much to say, they work like they should. Make sure you are getting for the right size tubes, these are for 1" tubes.

I have one of those wire rack shelf for the kitchen, and this was exactly what I needed after moving and loosing the parts. Great! I researched the products and found this to be the product that I wanted to get. I ordered what I wanted and with its guarantee no one ships like Amazon! The shelves on my rack stay up. That's really all they need to do. I didn't pay attention to the fine print but it shouldn't be listed as an 8 pack...it's a 4 pack with 8 halves!!! They fit perfect and the price was great!

This product was very easy to put together. It is a little smaller than you think. My kids bookbags can hang from the hooks and touch the bottom of the shelf. Their light weight jackets fit fine. We have it on top of a bench in our laundry room and it has helped tame our clutter.

I like the design and it fits great in the space that I have (lucky fit). However, while not a big deal to me, the unit itself "wobbles" on it's own. I had some simple felt pads and placed two to even it up. It was very easy, now the unit sits firmly and steady and since the whole unit is on a shelf above eye level no one can even see, although even if you look you don't really notice anything. Works great and "now" that the wobble is fixed it is great but because of that I can't give it 5 stars fairly. I really like the looks and as we have a rather modern style kitchen it works, I would have rather had a more natural wood color but really, it looks much better than Spiced Pumpkin sounds(?)

I really like the looks of this. Be aware that mine came with a lot of loose and a couple missing screws. Luckily I had some that matched in my shop, and a small screwdriver to tighten everything up. Now that it is firmly assembled, I like how it looks on the counter-top. The finish is a little rough but not noticeable more than a few feet away.

This shower caddy is certainly the best I have ever seen. The joints are smooth and everything seems to be put together very well. I hope the stainless steel proves more resistant to rust than my previous caddy, which was chrome plated.

Good as it is, there are a couple of problems. If you have a detachable shower head with a hose (as I do), the arched rail across the top tier of this caddy gets in the way. I rerouted the hose through the caddy as a workaround, but to some extent a conflict remains. Also, the caddy came with two suction cups for stability. One of the cups works very well, while the other does not work at all. Don't know why there should be a difference, as both are on smooth tile surfaces and both look the same, but there it is.

Follow-up. After six months of daily use with no maintenance apart from an occasional wipedown, this stainless shower caddy does not have a speck of rust. So far, so good.

Product appears to be real stainless steel, which should prevent it from rusting like every other caddy I have owned. The design is off in my opinion. Many newer homes have large shower heads. This does not accomodate well as the shower head actually sprayed on the fron rail of the top shelf. I had to order a 10" shower arm (6" are generally standard) to eliminate the issue.

Additionally, slick tile surfaces are rare, which means the suction cups do not work on tiles (aka. rough surface texture) in newer homes.

This is a nice quality and heavy gauge stainless steel unit. The shelves are a great size and deep enough so if you bump it the shampoo bottle don't fall out. Comes with two suction cups to keep it from swinging. All in all I would recommend this caddy.

This caddy is made out of three sizes of wire / thin rod, plus a few decorative strips and a couple of balls covering what would otherwise be the exposed ends of the main rods. The thinnest wire is pretty thick (maybe 12 gauge?) and the heavier rods seem more than adequate to supporting whatever you might want to hang under your shower head. The welds look good. Overall, this product seems like it will last for many years.

It's well laid out, and while the slight arches to the decorative strips are sort of unnecessary and a design element that probably doesn't match anything else in your bathroom they're not obnoxious.

Overall, the only really negative thing about this caddy is that (in my shower, at least) the arch on the top strip gets in the way of the bottom of the shower stream when the head is aimed as far down as it will go. This doesn't seem to splash any water out of the stall, but it does tend to splash a bit farther from the valve wall than the shower would otherwise, making it harder to avoid the initial cold water.

I am very impressed with the shower caddy I received! When I opened it, I appreciated that it wasn't as heavy as other caddies I've purchased before! In addition to that, I liked that it came with the suction pieces. I am a product junkie and have various shampoos, conditioners and other body products that I need on hand during a shower. They definitely could weigh down the caddy or cause it to move when it's in contact with water. The suction pieces will definitely keep it in place! It will hold all of my bottles, not to mention that section for bar soap. Never saw that on other caddies I've had either! It says it's "No Rust", so hopefully over time it doesn't. When I recieve the package I was amazed at the weight of the product. A heavy product means a well built product and this product is very well built. The main support is coated steel, the shelves are solid glass, there is even a built in level at the top of the main support for easy hanging. This product will even support a total of 66lbs, similar products from other companies will only support half that amount and cost twice as much (plus the shelves are not even glass) I am recomending this product from US Brown Bear to every person I encounter who is interested in a wall mounted entertainment system. If you are wall mounting an entertainment system, do it right the first time, and it cannot be done "right" without this product hanging on your wall along with your TV

This stand is great. I have only two issues though. One is more my fault than anything. My A/V receiver is fairly large, and hangs just a tad off the edge of the shelf. It fits without any components plugged in, with the power cord, hdmi cables and speakers all plugged in, it will not sit flush against the back of the stand. Not a huge issue, but I wouldn't mind seeing a brownbear shelf with larger shelves. Would definitely buy in the future. The other issue is the cord management system built into the mount. It takes a bit of effort to organize all the cords behind the unit. Took much longer than I anticipated, but I did manage to fit three hdmi cables, four power cords, a coax cable and 5 different strands of speaker wire. This took some effort and the use of a flat head screw driver to push the cables into the correct slot. Looks great though, very sturdy. I mounted this into dry wall and did not use the hardware shipped with the product(if you try this, purchase the correct anchors and screws). Still feels very solid even without the stud. All in all, there is about 19 pounds worth of equipment on it.

Pros:

Easy to install, good instructions and had it up in a matter of minutes.

It's attractive and streamline.

The glass shelves are sturdy and well constructed

Works best when anchored to a wall stud.

Cons:

The shelf is just smaller than our new surround sound unit..and as warned in other reviews, it shifts the weight of the unit to be less stable. It caused our bottom shelf to wobble and tilt to one side and there is no visible way to correct this, tighten or shim it.

Overall, good value.

This is exactly the thing I needed to pair with my no-name wall mount for my 60-inch plasma. The instructions are great, and the materials and workmanship are stellar. I chose this baker's rack because the dimensions fit my space perfectly, although I would have preferred a little less scrolling and solid wood shelves rather than slats. The rack arrived in time and in good condition. I like that it folds, and to set it up you only have to snap the pegs into the holes. This took a bit of tugging and elbow grease, but within about ten minutes the rack was set up. It is sturdy enough to put medium size plants and similar items on it. For the price it is a good value.

They take a little work to put together but can easily be done by a single person without issue. I wish the little bevels were numbered, having to count over and over to make sure you are putting the little placement pieces in the same spot in all 4 corners is a bit annoying but once it is together they are solid as a rock. It comes with wheels, or with adjustable leveling feet. I have two augmenting my meager pantry storage, I love being able to roll them around to wherever they are needed at the time. I will be purchasing another soon to make a mobile aquaponics/herb setup for my kitchen.

These are expensive but well worth it.

Very happy with this shelving product. Fairly easy to assemble and very sturdy once it's up. I do recommend it for household use.

Love this shelving unit. Looks great in my laundry room. Love that it's six shelves (most other shelves I found this height have only five shelves). Also, love the "ledge" at the back of the shelves, since I've placed this unit in front of a seldom used door. The shelf is wider than the door, so with the ledge in back, items won't fall off into the door jam area. And since it's on rollers, when I do need to use the door, I can just wheel it out of the way.

I assembled the Honey-Can-Do 6 Tier Chrome Urban Shelving Unit for our kitchen and was disappointed. First of all, today at Costco I saw a similar shelving unit that had more strength than this purported 600lb model from Honey-Can-Do. The center of each shelf with the Costco unit, had a heavy duty support to prevent sagging. Further more the Costco unit was $98.xx not $189.xx......I guess before I purchase on Amazon in the future, I will no longer feel comfortable that this is the lower price and push the button to order, but will shop more throughly.........really disappointed...if it wasn't so bulky I would send it back................

Very good storage bins. Have purchased these in the past and and very satisfied with them again. This is the best brand to buy for stackable bins.

I use these to keep supplies handy. I wish they had a snap together feature so I they can be moved as a unit once put together. I'll have to strap them or tape them up to do this. Good thing I did some additional research on these and got the dimension I needed—the floor length. If I went with the basic dimensions, the supplies I have wouldn't sit nicely inside because they would be longer than the floor length.

I've got one of the blue bins, it looks great just like the picture. It feels really tough, rugged, and no weak points. As I said, a great bin but I only got one, the problem is the description says 12. One bin is kinda useless, and a pretty rotten deal. I don't know how well these bins stack, but the one I do have is pretty secure on the floor right now.

I'm working with Amazon and Shoplet to see if this problem can be worked out.

End result, "oops" (aka "unit of measure issue"). They are giving me a refund.

I originally understandably rated this at one star .. since they straightened it out I'm give it three stars.

Nice TV console. My husband put it together by himself in about an hour. The wood is a little darker than the picture, very pretty. Liked the little touches like the shelves inside have small cutouts (not big enough for anything to fall through or to hurt the integrity of the shelves) for ventilation of the components you might put on them. We looked at TV consoles at some furniture stores and even some big box and electronic stores and this was much nicer, and less expensive. We love it.

This credenza looks gorgeous and appears to be good quality. I'm a lady in my late twenties and I was able to put it together in 30 minutes without assistance. The instructions are simple and accurate. My only complaint is that at one of the edges my finger nail bumped it as I was pulling a sticker off the glass and it left a barely noticeable mark on the wood. But at other spots I bumped one piece against another and it left no spot at all. So I'm thinking maybe since it was at the edge of the piece it was less sturdy. I would definitely recommend this product.

This product was darker than the color shown. It is a dark brownish red color but still has some shading. The credenza is well built and my family loves the way the TV looks on it. It fits all our components and game sytems. We are all happy with it. It was a great price for such a well-built unit.

We could not find a suitable stand locally for a 55" TV so finally, with some trepidation, ordered this online. When it arrived the package was a little beat up, but the Fedex man said that was a result of their assembly line and it should be okay inside. He was right--there was absolutely no damage to any parts. My husband and I (in our 70s) assembled it easily; all the parts fit together perfectly. My only recommendation is that you should order your surround sound system first (we got the Yamaha at Amazon (love it! http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004SL4ADA/ref=wms_ohs_product) so that you know the dimensions you will need for installation. Not all systems will work in this configuration.

First off it's a bit lighter in color than walnut would suggest, though it is nice. It assembles quickly and requires no tools. About my only complaint is that it damages very easily. It means just setting heavy things on the surfaces of the cabinet scratches them. I'd not recommend this unit to anyone with dogs or kids.

ClosetMaid 893 9-Cube Laminate Organizer

I have only had this product for a few days, but so far I could not be happier. I bought it on Amazon for $49.99 with free shipping to try to help organize my daughters toy. It arrived in about 36 hours! It was very easy to put together and the cherry color matches my cherry table (which is in the same room) perfectly! I purchased 4 natural closetmaid fabric drawers from Target and placed them in the four corners leaving the other shelves open for bigger toys. Target sells 2 packs of the drawers for $12.99, which was the best price I could find. I highly recommend this product.

I actually purchased this item in-store, at Target. If you've ever purchased "do-it-yourself" particle board furniture, expect similar quality; however, I was surprised at the finish, as it seems a little more durable, has a very slight texture and a polished shine to it. Not the matte look that is so typical and scratches easily.

Putting the unit together was a breeze and I highly recommend purchasing some additional pieces to create your own organizing system. The second piece I've bought is Item 78817, Closetmaid Cubicals Stack or Hang 2 Cube Organizer, which I'm going to hang above it or lay it on top to create a tiered look.

The fabric bins that fit into each cube are as of September 2010 $6.99/ea or $12.99/two pack; I just wish they had an orange color...but they do have a lot of colors to choose, so I went aall natural with cream; khaki and taupe.

Summing it up. Five stars for sturdy feel, optional wall attachment clip to keep it from falling on small children, better than most do-it-yourself furniture finishes, ease of installation and the all important price point.

I got this cube thingy for my 2 year old son's toys. The finish was nice and matched his bed, and the cube boxes worked well too. Its very sturdy an doesn't wobble at all, like some particle board things do.

The only issues I had with it was that none of the boards were drilled through to allow the pegs through, but it was easy to fix, and the backs were very ugly. My solution to that was to buy some colorful scrapbook paper and cover them. It made the shelf really fun for my son because there are different colors and patterns inside each cube.

Over all, I really like this product and intend to buy another one for my self to hold purses and hats and such

The organizer looks great once assembled and is exactly as pictured. However, the panels are a lot more flimsy than they appear in the pictures and can't hold much weight. I wanted to stack up two of these together against the wall, but that didn't work because the frame wouldn't hold together. On one of the units, the wood cracked from the bottom when i was assembling it, this was without any pressure at all. I'll be keeping these for now, but I'm sure there are more sturdy alternatives available.

I absolutely LOVE this item! I first bought it in white for my 3 year old son's room, liked it so much that I bought 2 more for my living room. (in the espresso finish) They look great in the living room, and when you pair it up with the natural color canvas baskets it works GREAT to hide my son's toys he leaves in the living room! I use one for his toys, and the other one for my cookbooks/nicknacks. My mom came to visit and now wants one, she's ordering one as soon as she gets home!

One thing to warn you however, the pieces were NOT labeled, but it was still really easy to put together. I think it took MAYBE 10 minutes total. Very sturdy once it's assembled, I don't know why others gave it a bad review for a "cheap feel". For the price, it EXCEEDED my expectations! It's well worth the price I paid, if not more! Mantel Top For Folding/stacking Multicolormedia Storage

Only one small caveat in my otherwise favorable review. In spite of my contacting the seller beforehand to be certain all shelves had enough clearance (7 3/4") to accommodate a standard DVD case, it turns out that, contrary to their claim, the top shelf has only 7" of clearence when the mantel top is added. I had to make a small modification by replacing the supplied dowel connectors with longer ones. Not a big deal, but nevertheless an irritation.

Otherwise, the unit is quite satisfactory sturdy, attractive, and a snap to assemble. Delivery was very prompt only three business days.

I ordered the mantel that was to fit my shelves and the company sent the wrong size. I called the company about it and they would not pay for shipping it back or ship the right size to me. So I am just stuck with it. They said it was my fault I got the wrong size. I will never be using Home Decorators Collection ever again.

The hook bars are pretty well designed. I do wish they'd come in black to match the rest of the products I'd purchased that I use these with. Unlike most other pieces I've seen to work with wire shelving, these have an open back, so I'm do have a slight concern about hanging too much weight on them, but I don't know what the actual weight limits are. (yet)

Wall Shelf without Pegs- Star Finish: Powder Blue

Be warned, the natural lacquer color option looks unfinished not the warm honey/pine color as pictured. Check out Little Colorado's website for better color chart. We had to return or order twice to Accent Furniture. On the 3rd try, we requested the next color up called Honey Oak. We'll see if this works out.
