GSC Base Utility Cabinet

GSC Base Utility CabinetThis is a nice storage cabinet. Not sure how the dimensions were listed in the product description, but it is a little larger than I expected it to be. It'll work well in our garage for extra stuff. I wouldn't recommend moving it around much once it's in place. The feet don't seem to like to stay on, but once it's in place it's very useful.

Very dissatisfied. Pieces loose in box more broken than not. I understand you get what you pay for but I expected something better than this. Will not be ordering from this maker again.

Park-a-Purse Organizer (Floral) (21"H x 33"W x 12"D)

Park-a-Purse OrganizerCardboard is fairly sturdy, holds large purses and able to stack light items on top without losing shape. However it takes up a LOT of space in the closet.

I read all the reviews and heard alot of complaints about this being cardboard and the price for cardboard. Well, this was a brilliant idea and the perfect solution to organizing all my handbags and, for me, so worth the pricey cardboard. It sits on a shelf above my hanging clothes in the closet and fits perfectly. It is easy to view all your purses and retrieve them, and it is sturdy.

Gladiator GarageWorks GAWA48SFRG 48-Inch Solid Shelf

Gladiator GarageWorks GAWA48SFRG 48-Inch Solid ShelfThese are covering my garage walls. I really like the Gladiator GarageWorks products. I've bought some from Amazon and some from Sears. The Sears items have always been in bad shape. In fact, I first bought these wall panels from sears...had to wait several weeks...and then they arrived broken. I returned them to Sears and order from Amazon...had them in two days (Amazon Prime!) and they were in perfect condition.

My fiance and I bought a new house a few months ago. Or, as she likes to say it, I bought a garage with a house attached. In getting my garage all set up, I purchased the Gladiator GarageWorks rail system and a few of these shelves. These are great build quality and work like a charm!

As with the other products from the Gladiator line, this shelf is very well made. Gladiator accessories tend to be a little pricey but I have found in this case that you get what you pay for. I haven't had a problem with any of the products that came from Gladiator.

I personally love the Gladiator GarageWorks products, I use them not only in my garage, but the laundry room, storage room, etc. This shelf is VERY solidly built and if you already have the rail system installed, takes about 10 seconds to install. It took longer to unpack it than it did to put it up! It is sturdy and I have no doubts about it holding it's stated weight provided you have correctly installed the rail system. As a bonus, the thing just looks good. A nice finish and it blends well with all their other products.

The only downside is the price. For about $50 a shelf, it can get very expensive to use these. I have been trying to use the cheaper 2ft wire ones where I can but they don't even compare to this one. Would be a five star product if only they were a bit cheaper in price.

Acrylic Shelf Divider - Clear

Acrylic Shelf Divider - ClearWe bought two types of dividers, the typical wire ones like this Spectrum 77100 Over-The-Shelf Divider Large 1-Pair, White as well as the acrylic ones. Each type has its pros and cons but ultimately the older and less attractive dividers do a better job and are sturdier.

The biggest plus for the acrylic dividers? They are so visually appealing that you could use them on open shelves, perhaps in a kitchen. No need to hide them behind closed doors.

But IF you are getting the acrylic ones, keep in mind that the plastic can attract dust, not a good thing for clothes or linens. I think it has to do with static electricity build-up from the plastic, not really sure. I just know it is a reality. The means frequent dusting of the dividers. If their appearance is worth it, that may not be such a big deal to you..if you have the time.

But you DO need to handle them very carefully, especially while removing them from their plastic bags. If dropped after receiving them, the sides can simply snap off on impact. This happened to us...twice. If you are thinking, " So don't drop them" ...well, this was my reasoning as well and I chalked up the first breakage to slippery plastic bags and clumsy fingers.

Unfortunately, other family members found the dividers equally hard to manage and it can be inconvenient to make sure they NEVER fall when you move them around. In carpeted rooms it might not be an issue but on our tile or hardwood or even laminate flooring it is a problem.

If you have a better experience, be interested in learning about it.

A snap to install & fit perfectly w/CA Closet installation or any wood shelving with same dimension. I'll be purchasing additional dividers as they stay in place and the closet looks neat & organized. Excellent for dividing purses, sheets/towels, sweaters, etc. WONDERFUL PRODUCT!!!

FURINNO PASiR 3x2 Column Shelf with 3-Door Round Handle, 11189

FURINNO 3-Tier Bookcase Storage Shelves Cabinet with 3 Door/Round Handle , Steam BeechI love this bookcase. There are NO fumes or chemical smells when you first open it. It is small, so make sure you read the measurements given in this product's listing, plus view the provided photo of the bookcase with the measurements labeled (you can find the photo in the product photos section). With that info, measure anything you plan to place inside of it *before* purchasing. This way, you'll know what you can and can't fit in it. It'll fit most books up to about 9.5" tall.

The listing says "some assembly required", but in actually, it's full assembly required. It took me a good 2 hours to put it all together, but that was because I made a few mistakes along the way. It's all good, I managed to get it all assembled and it looks great in my tiny apartment. A little bit of patience is all you need when putting it together. Don't do it when you're stressed out or are in a hurry.

The door handles are very cheap plastic, but what do you expect from a $35 bookcase? All in all, a great product! Just be sure to do your homework and take the proper measurements before buying!

This product arrived just as pictured. It is a very fun and small bookcase with 3 doors. It is fragile so be careful putting it together. Look the pieces over carefully before you start to assemble and look the directions over carefully too. I like it because you can also put baskets in the compartments that don't have doors on them. Perfect for what I wanted it for: folding T-shirts into it, that way they're all in one place. If I had the space, I'd also buy the other Furrino product I saw on Amazon as a companion to this one.

Overall, I totally love this shelf. I'm a pretty motivated do-it-myself-er, & this assembly was tricky but not totally impossible. Definitely do it when you have time and patience. It requires a lot of both. Overall though, for the price -what a steal! The shelves look wonderful! The size is great, too. 31.5" height & other measurements were dead-on.

Instructions are mostly in Chinese, but just look at the pictures, which are labeled in English. There's no helpful narrative in English in the instructions. Pictures only. If you struggle, follow these instructions (because it's pretty tricky):

Assembly was surprisingly time consuming. Lay out the pieces. Each piece is stamped with a Red letter (A through G, I think). A few of the pieces are 1-of-a-kind letters, even though they look the same size as other pieces. Use the SCREWS to hold horizontal shelves in place from outside of each side, into the bottom of the horizontal shelves. Use the DOWELS (little wood pieces) to hold the middle shelves in place. Use the BLACK PLASTIC CYLINDERS to hold the swinging doors in place. The DOWELS & BLACK CYLINDERS fit into pre-drilled holes IF you line the shelves up right.

START Assembly with the bottom piece. Add both Vertical sides by putting the screws into the side of the 1st horizontal shelf from the side, through pre-drilled hopes. (Always PAY ATTENTION TO THE PRE-DRILLED HOLES on all pieces BEFORE adding the next piece!) You must line the holes up with where the middle dividers, the magnets (purple plastic/metal), & swinging door hinges (black plastic cylinders) will end up going.

On the inside of the 3 doors, there's a single hole for the flat philips screw. That is what sticks to the magnet to hold the cabinet door closed. Make sure the magnet holes line up with the magnet. They can go on the top or maybe the bottom, but you've got to pick top or bottom for all 3 magnets & all 3 doors. Mine ended up on the top, inside each door. They're working just fine & staying in place w/ no problem.

Now, BEFORE YOU ADD THE 2ND VERTICAL SIDE to the 2nd horizontal shelf, make sure to add the middle divider, then the 3nd horizontal shelf, & the swinging door. Once that stuff is in place, screw the 2nd side of the 2nd horizontal shelf into place. The order of assembly in this regard it important otherwise the items held in place by tension only will NOT fit & you'll have to take the screws out of 1 side in order to make the tension-only middle divider & swinging door items fit.

It may seem out of order, but if you screw both sides into each horizontal shelf, then you can't move the horizontal shelf up or down (a little bit) to add/squeeze-in the middle divider (held in place only by dowels & tension) or the swinging door (held only in place by black plastic cylinders & tension)!

I made this mistake a couple times. I also failed to line up the pre-drilled holes w/ the magnets & swinging doors a couple times. These mistakes caused me to take some side screws out & flip & switch the horizontal shelves so the holes would line up for the swinging door corners & magnet holes. Hope this saves you time.

The back is a single piece. It unfolds and will be nailed to the edges of the backside at the end. This is the only piece you use the nails for!! Make sure the finished side faces front (so you see it through the open shelves from the front).

Put plastic door knobs on last so you don't break them while nailing-in the back piece.

Don't throw the pieces around during assembly. They finish is scraped off fairly easily.

The cabinet is flimsy built, made from very thin half inch material. Laminate was scratched right from the box. It was difficult to assemble, took more than an hour. The handles are cheap plastic; I have spent another $12 to buy decent handles. Does not serve the advertised purpose as a bookcase storage...The only use would be toy storage for kids, but I would not place it kids room because of sharp corners.

Would not recommend it, buy something else for the money.

The good: It's a nice, pretty cute shelf, and spacious without wasting floor space. It's easy to assemble.

The bad: It is not well packaged; the laminated veneer was outright cracked and peeling on the edge of one piece, and all over it shows signs of wear. In the box it is packaged merely as a bundle of boards with some foam corners; there is no protective layering between the boards. In all I'd say this is like an IKEA product in quality and assembly, but with less care in both (however, it claims to be made of recycled material, which IKEA does not). The instructions, unforgivably, are 100% Chinese whose only English characters are numerals, labels (A-H) on the different pieces, and the abbreviation "pcs" (pieces). Fortunately the pictures are good enough to follow. The packed-in screws and other parts are unfortunately also packed in with three magnets to hold the doors shut, and thus are globbed into a ball that requires an unusual amount of picking apart before use. Considering that the doorknobs themselves are separated out into an isolated baggie, I think they could have done the same for the latches. The doorknobs look okay but are visibly cheap plastic.

I settled on 3 stars because although the complaints are numerous, the only really deadly one is the shipping damage, which was fairly minor and only on one of my two orders. The rest are annoying, but not detrimental to the product itself.

Storage Dynamics Expandable Sliding Cabinet Drawer

Storage Dynamics Expandable Sliding Cabinet DrawerTHIS IS THE WORST PRODUCT I have ever bought on Amazon. Confusing construction; flawed design; and worse, it just doesn't work! The sliding mechanism is terrible -very hard to pull out or slide in. I have recommended to Amazon that they discontinue carrying this product. I only gave one star because the Amazon site won't let me give it zero stars.

The directions were confusing and the finished product was nowhere near as sturdy as I would have liked it to be. I would not recommend this product.

Seville Classics 17.5 by 7.5 by 18.5-Inch Shelf Organizer

Seville Classics 17-1/2-Inch by 7-1/2-Inch by 18-1/2-Inch Cabinet Organizer, ChromeI bought these after using similar ones in a medical facility. The shelf consists of four upright poles with two pieces each that connect by a third short section of pipe. The shelves are held in place by two part plastic sleeves which are slightly cone-shaped and snap together easily in the grooves placed about 1 inch apart on the poles. The shelves have slightly cone-shaped tubing pieces at the corners which slide down over the plastic sleeves and fit firmly against the poles. These only fit together one way so some attention must be paid to orientation. The plastic sleeve pieces are clearly marked as to orientation, and are identical halves, so you cannot mismatch them (without effort, that is).

The only tools I needed were a rubber mallet and some scrap wood (to protect my floor when pounding with the mallet). The pole sections have to be pounded firmly together, and the shelves have to be pounded into place with the mallet. Because of the shape of the plastic sleeves and the shelf corner tubing, (narrower at the top, wider at the bottom) downward pressure on the shelf actually makes it grip the pole more tightly, which is the secret of the strength of these kind of shelves. It is quite ingenius, actually. One of those simple, elegant design ideas that usually go unnoticed. If someone has trouble with the shelves not locking together fimrly, it is probably because they have not pounded the parts together properly, which is quite clearly explained in the instructions.

I took one star off because Target had so much trouble getting these to me. The first set was either never sent or "got lost." After Amazon intervened on my behalf, Target sent the second set to my post office box! (Needless to say, it didn't fit.) Neither package had good tracking data, or an email from Target that it had been sent. Now it may be that I just hit Target on a bad day, but for a first experience with their distance ordering, I am definitely soured on them for taking over a month to get the order right (well, almost right). I will definitely buy more of these shelves, but direct from the manufacturer.

These are excellent shelves, very simple, attractive, and strong. The manufacturer, Seville Classics, also has extra parts and other designs one can buy. I heartily recommend the shelves, but caution is advised when dealing with Target.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2010:

Amazon now sells these directly with better shipping options than Target. Go for the Amazon buy, definitely. I now have 7 of these and love them. I am getting ready to get a bunch for my "day job" facility.

UPDATE August 2011: Overpriced now. You can get a 48" with 6 shelves with wheels and back stops for $99 at Costco. Lowes Hardware also carries them for less (without back stops and I think the extra shelf or two are sold separately). If you want this smaller version you can get them at Lowes Hardware cheaper. I am still an avid fan of these style shelves. I noticed last week my contractor neighbor has 6 of them in his basement and garage. We both have the 48" version though this is the smaller 36" version.

This is the fourth size of these shelves I've gotten. One larger and two smaller let's call this one 'large'. The X-large one was my first. It is one 6-shelf unit or two 3-shelf units. I use it as two units. It is loaded with heavy power tools, loaded tool boxes, etc and handles it with no problem. The medium sized ones are packed with garden supplies, gallons of paint, etc. The small one is loaded with gallons of bleach and detergents and softener bottles. This large size I use for boxes of house supplies some heavy some lite. The product is as described and looks exactly like the picture.

QUALITY = Zero defects with the legs, shelves, plastic height adjusters, wheel assemblies, welding and chrome plating. The design is simple and effective the weight of the shelves and items of the shelves hold everything in place no screws.

ASSEMBLY = The instructions are poor but once you figure it out it is quick and easy and simply repetitive to put together. I've assembled all of mine by myself. The first x-large one I got took me an hour, now it takes me 10 minutes to put them together or tear them apart to change the shelf heights. No special tools required all of mine came with a little wrench to tighten the wheel bolts. A rubber mallet proved handy to tighten the shelves down on the plastic adjusters (and to knock them loose to change the height as desired) but a shoe works as well. One corner of a shelf kept popping up and causing the plastic adjuster to pop off until I figured out I needed to get it on a level floor, square up the legs by twisting the whole unit a little, and whacked it with the mallet to wedge it down on the plastic adjuster. Caution: Don't step on any of the plastic height adjusters as you assemble it cause there are no extras!

DURABILITY = I can't imagine what I could put on it that would be heavy enough to break it. Compared to the laundry shelf/hanger unit I bought from a competitor these shelves are commercial strength. The laundry shelf wiggles and wobbles every time I touch it but these shelves are sturdy. Heavier than I expected too.

(2011 Update: I finally broke one wire on a bottom shelf by 'throwing' a 24 case of soda pop on it. I still love these shelves and bought another large one for the storage unit in my rental condo doubled the storage 'capacity' of the storage unit for my tenants.)

USABILITY = Great. I definitely prefer the models with wheels for ease in rearranging my basement storage and for cleaning around, etc. Even fully loaded with heavy items the x-large one is easy to move around with wheels on concrete. The wheel locks work well (just place them on opposite corners of each other). The shelf spacing is very flexible with grooves for the plastic height adjusters every inch or so. Excellent for workshops, garages, basements, pantry, and contemporary or chef-quality kitchens but not something I'd put in my living room at least not in chrome. I'd probably lose the wheels if I were to put it in the kitchen to soften the look a bit.

VALUE = I was pleasantly surprised but now (August 2011) they've jacked up the price too much. See my opening paragraph. OLD REVIEW: I looked at the plastic shelves which cost less but for me the wheels, the looks, the adjustable heights, and the durability was worth the extra money. My sister has several versions of the plastic shelves in her basement and she doesn't like having to unload them or drag them across the floor to rearrange or clean. But if all you're going to store on them is boxes of bows and wrapping paper then these shelves are probably overkill. If I had a garage and/or a place for them in the kitchen I'd have more of them and put my heavy Kitchen-Aid mixer and the like on one of these.

... I have decided to edit my review. I've had a few people mark it "not helpful", probably due to it's tone or length, so I hope this is more helpful. This should be four stars, not five, but too late to change it.

... This is a solid, quality product, typically, although I suppose it's possible to get one that's not 100%. I personally have not, and I've assembled dozens of these, over thirty in all.

... If they are not assembled correctly, they can give you headaches, but I will provide assembly tips below.

... They are clinical, industrial, not cozy or homey. In a stainless steel kitchen, perfect. In a typical kitchen, probably ugly. Great for garage, closet, I keep a brushed nickel one in my kitchen.

... One important thing to mention. They're wire, so if you have an appliance, with legs, it can be unstable. For solid objects (pots, pans), it's perfect. I use it as an appliance rack, and have lexan cutouts on the shelves. It lets light through, stands up to heat, looks great. For those not using it in their kitchen, this shouldn't be an issue.

... Instead of using the feet on some shelves, I purchases large wheels from home depot, for mobility in the garage, and they thread in where the adjustment feet normally would go.

... That's it for the review, assembly instructions are below. And remember, before you make a decision on a product based on a review, look at the reviewer. If their reviews tend to vacillate between one star and five stars, "perfect product" and "worst product ever" they might not be the best, reliable source for critical information. It's not fair to you and it's not fair to the manufacturer, that some caustic or unreasonable person should have such an impact on your buying decision. Just because they decimate a product does not mean they are saving you heartache. They may just be reactionary or ignorant. You have to read between the lines.

...

... Assembly: Easy.

... Pitfalls: Not keeping plastic pieces in place while positioning shelf. Not setting plastic pieces at same heights.

... Pluses: No need to measure, just count.

... Count the one-inch lines from bottom, and place plastic pieces around leg. Your first instinct will be to line up the top or bottom of the plastic with the line on the leg, but you'll notice there is a ridge inside the plastic that fits on the indentation line on the leg. This helps keep the plastic from sliding.

... Smart tip: sandwich the two plastic pieces around the leg, smaller side up, and holding firmly, slide plastic down until the ridge clicks into the indent. Now you are at the perfect spot.

... Do the same with all four legs and double check that there are the same amount of lines below each plastic pair. If not, your shelf will pop loose.

... Stand a shelf on it's side, run each leg through until the plastic is inserted in the hole firmly. Rapping with a rubber mallet ($1) will make it firm. Stand it up on it's feet, hold the shelf down firmly, and rap on all four corners until shelf is wedged down tightly.

... Count lines up some more, clip the plastic pieces on, drop another shelf down, taking care to insert each leg gently in shelf, hold shelf down and rap solidly. Repeat until finished.

... When all is assembled, you can go back and rap all shelves for extra tightness. When moving, try and use the legs, rather than the shelf, but if the shelves are tight, they won't loosen without hammering the bottom of the shelf to knock it loose. This is why they use the plastic pieces, because they are soft and provide good grab for the shelf.

I love these shelves! Just the right size for your kitchen, bath, closet or kid's room for a hamster cage or fish tank. The Mini Metal Shelving 3-Shelves unit is an organizers dream come true.

Pro's:

+Each shelf can hold up to 160 pounds once the shelving unit is put together.

+Shelves adjust in 1" intervals for multiple configurations.

+No tools are required for assembly!

+Full assembly from out of box takes approximately 15 minutes or less.

+High quality; nice finish.

Con's:

You may need to cut some shelving to fit so your items (such as books) don't fall through the spaces between the wires. (I use wicker or canvas baskets to contain items to thwart this problem.)

-Price varies widely. I picked up mine for $13 each at my local Target store.

Great item!

If you expect these chrome shelves to look good in your kitchen or bathroom guess again. I love these shelves however they rusted almost instantly. Very unfortunate because they are stylish and just the right size. I would buy them again if they were rust proofed but until then you are just throwing your money away.

Thunder Group CMSV1460 Wire Shelves 14"X60" Heavy Duty Chrome NSF, 2 pcs

Thunder Group CMSV1460 Wire Shelves 14'X60' Heavy Duty Chrome NSF, 2 pcsI have used this style of shelving before but not in the lengths as this one. I was worried about how substantial it would be once assembled. Not to worry. My system is 7 feet tall and 5 feet long... solid as a rock. Yes they are pricy but worth the expense for such a solid and well made system. Assembly is straight forward but can be cumbersome depending on the size you get. May want to have an assistant. The shipment came within 3 days from time of order. The only problem was they only ship just enough wedges (four per shelf) so if any are damaged you may be out of luck. One of my wedges was broken but was able to still use it with no side affects.
