Desk Organizer in White Finish w 6 Adjustable & Removable Shelves

Desk Organizer in White Finish w 6 Adjustable & Removable ShelvesThis organizer is very sturdy and will support printers being placed on it. Makes getting limited office space organized much easier.

Before purchasing the "compartment organizer" I did search different sites, my husband suggested I try amazon, but none seemed sturdy enough. The reviews written for this organizer did help us on this purchase. Needed a place to organize bills and magazines for myself and husband as they came in the door and not on the kitchen counter. Now, we can separate items addressed to each us and two of the middle slots are used for magazines. The top middle slot is used for pens and note pads(the organizer is near the phone). My husband put the organizer together for me and had it done within thirty minutes. Thought the oak would be to lite but it blends well where we have placed in the kitchen. Overall, we are very satisfied with the unit and would recommend it. In the future I may purchased another one to put in my sewing room.

A nicely designed, sturdy addition to any home office. I liked the first one so much that I ordered a second and stacked them. It's easily put together, and it's perfect for those items that don't fit well in a regular file cabinet or desk drawer---bills, a checkbook, a calculator, directories, etc. It's not one of those flimsy products made of cardboard; rather, it's designed to last a lifetime, and it's very handsome to boot.

Alera SW504818SR Industrial Wire Shelving Starter Kit, 4 Shelves, 48w x 18d x 72h, Silver

Alera SW504818SR Industrial Wire Shelving Starter Kit, 4 Shelves, 48w x 18d x 72h, SilverWhat a great shelving unit. Extremely well made and the instructions were easy enough. Manufacturer supplied everything you need except the rubber mallet. Hardware provided to attach unit to wall and also to configure the shelving as two units intead of 1. Each shelf will hold a lot of weight. You really need 2 people to put together only because of the size if you are constructing as one shelving unit. I think this size is ideal. I like the 18"deep for storage of smaller items. Easier to see items behind what is at front. Perfect for pantry items. I would not hesitate to recommend purchasing this. The box is heavy though. I felt badly for the UPS man. I unpacked the box at entrance to my house and brought everything down piece by piece for where I was going to use the shelving. Again, 2 people make it easier to assemble only because you need to slide each shelf down the 4 poles and you want them to be level. FYI, each pole has numbering on it to help with being level.

Absoutely love this shelf. Instead of using as one shelf, I use it as two. Friend and I put it together in no time, it was easy. Now, my garage looks very nice and I can find everything.

Stanley Utility Shelf Bracket Grey

Stanley Utility Shelf Bracket GreyCertain members of my family have claws and paws. They have a tendency to traverse the tallest wood fence. On a clear day with direct eye contact, the word "no" strikes terror in their hart and detours them from attempting extrication.

However, in their mind, no eye can penetrate to the rear fence covered with privets. The most agile body can not penetrate the hedgerow in time to prevent escape once you here the "escape or die" sound coming from some wild animal that you just thought was domesticated.

So with well-spaced brackets (one on each post), some screws and fishing line, places behind the privets, you level the playing field. They almost make it to the top of the fence and turn to you with a "what have you done?" look.

Wine Racks - Country Pine: Cubes CUBE

Wine Racks - Country Pine: Cubes CUBEWhen I ordered this item, I searched over the information and it clearly states "cubes" as in more that one box. I paid $63.67 for basicly ONE box, which there were other boxes out there less expensive that I liked better than this one. In my view this is not an item priced to what you get.

SEI Black Steel Wall-Mount CD Rack

SEI Black Steel Wall-Mount CD RackI just got these and installed them a couple of nights ago (I ordered two). I am really pleased with them. The C.D.'s are accessible and easy to see and sort in the individual "squares". I was finally able to put Mozart with Mozart and Bach with Bach and Alison Kraus with Alison Krause and Leo Kotke with Leo Kotke, etc. and etc. and etc. I think it is a great design! The black wire is there, but, doesn't take over like a wood shelf does. Also, it is fairly lightweight which made installation easy! We have hundreds of C.D.'s and storing them and organizing them has been a nightmare! I was interested in these because the product description said they each held 108 C.D.'s. I had my doubts, but, I'm here to tell you, they do! It is great to get some of our C.D.'s off the floor where we have to squat and use a flashlight to find one (on regular C.D. shelves). One thing to be aware of is that they do stick out from the wall (of course) and so I was unable to put them where I'd intended...on the hall wall. I was afraid they'd get in the way and get knocked around. I hung them over the bookcases that house DVD's, etc. and since they don't stick out any further than the shelves, they are safe! The diamond shape also gives you the opportunity to create a nice design on the wall. You can put them up against each other or separate them...they look great either way! If you are a media hog like we are and your C.D.'s are all over the place, these are a terrific solution!

We had been looking for a long time to find a CD storage system to fit in a narrow space behind a door. We purchased two of these based on other reviews and are extremely happy with them. They are easy to mount (we located our two vertically on a stud), look great and hold all of our CDs. More than one visitor has admired them and asked where they were purchased. If we expand our collection then we will buy more. The only drawback to the design is that if you place your CDs in the rack in an order and then acquire another CD that you want to put in the sequence then you may need to move many CDs if you have not left the space for expansion. Other than that minor inconvenience it is a five star product.

THIS HACK LOOKS REALLY GREAT ON THE WALL, VERY EASY TO INSTALL AND REALLY HOLDS OVER A 100 CDS, THE SERVICE ALSO WAS GREAT, DELIVERED VERY FAST AND VERY WELL PROTECTED PACKAGE.

This is a very unique cd storage system that holds quite a few CD's. I ordered 2 of them, and filled them both up. It looks pretty cool, and is very handy as it hangs on the wall right next to my Stereo system. It's pretty easy to install, is quite sturdy, and looks like a piece of art (well as artful as a CD collection can look).

My only complaint is that it is hard to alphabetically organize CD's when they're hanging horizontal. This system does not hold A-typical CD boxes, and does not hold other media such as DVD's and games.

I purchased three of these this week put them up and filled them last night. My husband & daughter fell in love with them too. They are well made, well finished, have good instructions, are sent quickly in well-protected packaging, and relatively cheap when compared to the alternatives. I love that I can see my CDs now instead of squatting on the floor to read the labels. The best thing about them is how artistic they look! I will definitely buy more as our music collection grows.

Edsal SR-200 Heavy Duty Steel Shelving Unit, 2500lbs Capacity, 48" Width x 72" Height x 2

Edsal SR-200 Heavy Duty Steel Shelving Unit, 2500lbs Capacity, 48' Width x 72' Height x 24' Depth
  • Industrial strength steel
  • 2500 Lbs total weight capacity on evenly distributed load
  • Tab style posts allow for quick assemble in just minutes, no nuts or bolts
  • Particleboard shelves adjust in 1-1/2" increments
  • Can be assembled horizontally, durable gray enamel finish

I purchased 5 of these racks and the quality of the product was absolutely pathetic. I was only able to assemble 4 shelves as two of the cartons were short 4 of the short beams for the ends. The enclosed beams had burrs and bends on the end of the tabs making it necessary to grind each tab on a grinder to make it fit into the corresponding slot. I estimate it took an extra 3 hours to assemble the 4 units due to the poor fitting and grinding.

So if you have nothing better to do some day, get yourself a grinder, hammer, screwdriver, spray paint and a lot of patience and spend the day assembling one of these units. The completed units are sturdy and look nice but getting there is one heck of a job. The finished product is a 4, the parts to assemble the unit rate a "0" for a 2 star average. Never again!!

Winsome 3-Tier A-Frame Ladder Wood Bookcase

Winsome Wood 3-Tier A-Frame Shelf, BlackThis a great solution for keeping magazines organized and out of the way. The predrilled holes weren't accurately aligned, so plan on using your corded / cordless drill to complete assembly.

This unit is attractive and fits well into just about any room or office space, without giving it that "closed in" feeling. It solved my bathroom storage needs. I used this unit in the bath to store towels and display accent pieces. The Winsome quality is there, the unit is simple to assemble, takes less than 15 minutes and takes up minimum space. I would have given a 5-star rating, but had to exchange the first unit because the top shelf was at a full tilt and the shelves had rub marks. Amazon was great about the exchange, as usual, fast and reliable. Thanks Amazon.com

As a graduate student in an apartment at Denver, CO, I needed a piece to keep all my large reference and personal books that was sturdy enough to handle large text (like my unabridged collection of 7 works by Herman Melville, author of Moby Dick), but at the same time, I needed something that wouldn't take up all of my valuable space. This shelf easily does both. Each actual level probably holds at least 20-30 pounds of reading material, but the entire piece leaves only about a 1' x 2' footprint. I've since added a large heavy glass filled with change, plus several other knickknacks for a personal touch, and have yet to see any compromises in the structural integrity, so its function is spot on. As far as fashion is concerned, the simple design makes it hard to go wrong when using the shelf in just about any bedroom or office. The only possible downside I saw with this piece was during assembly, when the holes for the screws didn't quite line up. No problem though, the screws provided are sharp enough that you can just use makeshift holes and have the shelf totally assembled in about 5 minutes with only a screwdriver. All in all, a very nice product for someone with lots to store/display, but not much room to do so.

Seville Classics 17.5 by 7.5 by 18.5-Inch Shelf Organizer

Seville Classics 17-1/2-Inch by 7-1/2-Inch by 18-1/2-Inch Cabinet Organizer, ChromeI bought these after using similar ones in a medical facility. The shelf consists of four upright poles with two pieces each that connect by a third short section of pipe. The shelves are held in place by two part plastic sleeves which are slightly cone-shaped and snap together easily in the grooves placed about 1 inch apart on the poles. The shelves have slightly cone-shaped tubing pieces at the corners which slide down over the plastic sleeves and fit firmly against the poles. These only fit together one way so some attention must be paid to orientation. The plastic sleeve pieces are clearly marked as to orientation, and are identical halves, so you cannot mismatch them (without effort, that is).

The only tools I needed were a rubber mallet and some scrap wood (to protect my floor when pounding with the mallet). The pole sections have to be pounded firmly together, and the shelves have to be pounded into place with the mallet. Because of the shape of the plastic sleeves and the shelf corner tubing, (narrower at the top, wider at the bottom) downward pressure on the shelf actually makes it grip the pole more tightly, which is the secret of the strength of these kind of shelves. It is quite ingenius, actually. One of those simple, elegant design ideas that usually go unnoticed. If someone has trouble with the shelves not locking together fimrly, it is probably because they have not pounded the parts together properly, which is quite clearly explained in the instructions.

I took one star off because Target had so much trouble getting these to me. The first set was either never sent or "got lost." After Amazon intervened on my behalf, Target sent the second set to my post office box! (Needless to say, it didn't fit.) Neither package had good tracking data, or an email from Target that it had been sent. Now it may be that I just hit Target on a bad day, but for a first experience with their distance ordering, I am definitely soured on them for taking over a month to get the order right (well, almost right). I will definitely buy more of these shelves, but direct from the manufacturer.

These are excellent shelves, very simple, attractive, and strong. The manufacturer, Seville Classics, also has extra parts and other designs one can buy. I heartily recommend the shelves, but caution is advised when dealing with Target.

UPDATE FEBRUARY 2010:

Amazon now sells these directly with better shipping options than Target. Go for the Amazon buy, definitely. I now have 7 of these and love them. I am getting ready to get a bunch for my "day job" facility.

UPDATE August 2011: Overpriced now. You can get a 48" with 6 shelves with wheels and back stops for $99 at Costco. Lowes Hardware also carries them for less (without back stops and I think the extra shelf or two are sold separately). If you want this smaller version you can get them at Lowes Hardware cheaper. I am still an avid fan of these style shelves. I noticed last week my contractor neighbor has 6 of them in his basement and garage. We both have the 48" version though this is the smaller 36" version.

This is the fourth size of these shelves I've gotten. One larger and two smaller let's call this one 'large'. The X-large one was my first. It is one 6-shelf unit or two 3-shelf units. I use it as two units. It is loaded with heavy power tools, loaded tool boxes, etc and handles it with no problem. The medium sized ones are packed with garden supplies, gallons of paint, etc. The small one is loaded with gallons of bleach and detergents and softener bottles. This large size I use for boxes of house supplies some heavy some lite. The product is as described and looks exactly like the picture.

QUALITY = Zero defects with the legs, shelves, plastic height adjusters, wheel assemblies, welding and chrome plating. The design is simple and effective the weight of the shelves and items of the shelves hold everything in place no screws.

ASSEMBLY = The instructions are poor but once you figure it out it is quick and easy and simply repetitive to put together. I've assembled all of mine by myself. The first x-large one I got took me an hour, now it takes me 10 minutes to put them together or tear them apart to change the shelf heights. No special tools required all of mine came with a little wrench to tighten the wheel bolts. A rubber mallet proved handy to tighten the shelves down on the plastic adjusters (and to knock them loose to change the height as desired) but a shoe works as well. One corner of a shelf kept popping up and causing the plastic adjuster to pop off until I figured out I needed to get it on a level floor, square up the legs by twisting the whole unit a little, and whacked it with the mallet to wedge it down on the plastic adjuster. Caution: Don't step on any of the plastic height adjusters as you assemble it cause there are no extras!

DURABILITY = I can't imagine what I could put on it that would be heavy enough to break it. Compared to the laundry shelf/hanger unit I bought from a competitor these shelves are commercial strength. The laundry shelf wiggles and wobbles every time I touch it but these shelves are sturdy. Heavier than I expected too.

(2011 Update: I finally broke one wire on a bottom shelf by 'throwing' a 24 case of soda pop on it. I still love these shelves and bought another large one for the storage unit in my rental condo doubled the storage 'capacity' of the storage unit for my tenants.)

USABILITY = Great. I definitely prefer the models with wheels for ease in rearranging my basement storage and for cleaning around, etc. Even fully loaded with heavy items the x-large one is easy to move around with wheels on concrete. The wheel locks work well (just place them on opposite corners of each other). The shelf spacing is very flexible with grooves for the plastic height adjusters every inch or so. Excellent for workshops, garages, basements, pantry, and contemporary or chef-quality kitchens but not something I'd put in my living room at least not in chrome. I'd probably lose the wheels if I were to put it in the kitchen to soften the look a bit.

VALUE = I was pleasantly surprised but now (August 2011) they've jacked up the price too much. See my opening paragraph. OLD REVIEW: I looked at the plastic shelves which cost less but for me the wheels, the looks, the adjustable heights, and the durability was worth the extra money. My sister has several versions of the plastic shelves in her basement and she doesn't like having to unload them or drag them across the floor to rearrange or clean. But if all you're going to store on them is boxes of bows and wrapping paper then these shelves are probably overkill. If I had a garage and/or a place for them in the kitchen I'd have more of them and put my heavy Kitchen-Aid mixer and the like on one of these.

... I have decided to edit my review. I've had a few people mark it "not helpful", probably due to it's tone or length, so I hope this is more helpful. This should be four stars, not five, but too late to change it.

... This is a solid, quality product, typically, although I suppose it's possible to get one that's not 100%. I personally have not, and I've assembled dozens of these, over thirty in all.

... If they are not assembled correctly, they can give you headaches, but I will provide assembly tips below.

... They are clinical, industrial, not cozy or homey. In a stainless steel kitchen, perfect. In a typical kitchen, probably ugly. Great for garage, closet, I keep a brushed nickel one in my kitchen.

... One important thing to mention. They're wire, so if you have an appliance, with legs, it can be unstable. For solid objects (pots, pans), it's perfect. I use it as an appliance rack, and have lexan cutouts on the shelves. It lets light through, stands up to heat, looks great. For those not using it in their kitchen, this shouldn't be an issue.

... Instead of using the feet on some shelves, I purchases large wheels from home depot, for mobility in the garage, and they thread in where the adjustment feet normally would go.

... That's it for the review, assembly instructions are below. And remember, before you make a decision on a product based on a review, look at the reviewer. If their reviews tend to vacillate between one star and five stars, "perfect product" and "worst product ever" they might not be the best, reliable source for critical information. It's not fair to you and it's not fair to the manufacturer, that some caustic or unreasonable person should have such an impact on your buying decision. Just because they decimate a product does not mean they are saving you heartache. They may just be reactionary or ignorant. You have to read between the lines.

...

... Assembly: Easy.

... Pitfalls: Not keeping plastic pieces in place while positioning shelf. Not setting plastic pieces at same heights.

... Pluses: No need to measure, just count.

... Count the one-inch lines from bottom, and place plastic pieces around leg. Your first instinct will be to line up the top or bottom of the plastic with the line on the leg, but you'll notice there is a ridge inside the plastic that fits on the indentation line on the leg. This helps keep the plastic from sliding.

... Smart tip: sandwich the two plastic pieces around the leg, smaller side up, and holding firmly, slide plastic down until the ridge clicks into the indent. Now you are at the perfect spot.

... Do the same with all four legs and double check that there are the same amount of lines below each plastic pair. If not, your shelf will pop loose.

... Stand a shelf on it's side, run each leg through until the plastic is inserted in the hole firmly. Rapping with a rubber mallet ($1) will make it firm. Stand it up on it's feet, hold the shelf down firmly, and rap on all four corners until shelf is wedged down tightly.

... Count lines up some more, clip the plastic pieces on, drop another shelf down, taking care to insert each leg gently in shelf, hold shelf down and rap solidly. Repeat until finished.

... When all is assembled, you can go back and rap all shelves for extra tightness. When moving, try and use the legs, rather than the shelf, but if the shelves are tight, they won't loosen without hammering the bottom of the shelf to knock it loose. This is why they use the plastic pieces, because they are soft and provide good grab for the shelf.

I love these shelves! Just the right size for your kitchen, bath, closet or kid's room for a hamster cage or fish tank. The Mini Metal Shelving 3-Shelves unit is an organizers dream come true.

Pro's:

+Each shelf can hold up to 160 pounds once the shelving unit is put together.

+Shelves adjust in 1" intervals for multiple configurations.

+No tools are required for assembly!

+Full assembly from out of box takes approximately 15 minutes or less.

+High quality; nice finish.

Con's:

You may need to cut some shelving to fit so your items (such as books) don't fall through the spaces between the wires. (I use wicker or canvas baskets to contain items to thwart this problem.)

-Price varies widely. I picked up mine for $13 each at my local Target store.

Great item!

If you expect these chrome shelves to look good in your kitchen or bathroom guess again. I love these shelves however they rusted almost instantly. Very unfortunate because they are stylish and just the right size. I would buy them again if they were rust proofed but until then you are just throwing your money away.

Mission Single Door Pantry Cabinet

Ameriwood Single Door PantryLike a lot of reviewers for this product online, I bought mine at Big Lots for $79.99. And yes, it is the exact same product from Ameriwood. It was difficult to find in stock, to be sure my ex-husband was out of town one day and found one at a Big Lots there and bought it for me. I assembled it by myself and it was not hard...but I have a lot of experience with build-it-yourself furniture, which definitely helps. I had only one small issue one of the cam bolts holes was drilled too close to the edge and a small chunk of wood fell out but it's on the inside so who cares? I am getting another one to put in my dining area truly, it's so cute and a lot more spacious than it looks. So much better than the utility cabinet type pantries. If they made it in white, I would buy one for my bedroom. If you can't find it in a local Big Lots, then $139 is a lot to pay BUT, you would not be disappointed, trust me. I am a female furniture builder from way back. It is a much cheaper way to go and the pride you feel when finished is worth it!! I probably would have paid the $139 eventually, had I not been able to find it at a Big Lots. However, there are about 10 Big Lots within a 100 mile radius of me so I am on the hunt to find a store that has another one!

I should have paid more attention to other reviews. My husband and I purchased this pantry to hold my cookbooks in the kitchen. It would have been perfect IF we could have put it together without too much trouble. Therein lies the problem... the bottom shelf did not line up well with the sides, and we had to try to take it apart and put it back together again. When we did, the pressboard crumbled and there was no way to salvage it. We were already a good 2 hours into putting it together at that point, and this frustration led to a good hour of marital discord. We decided this furniture was not worth our grief, and it ended up in the dumpster. I emailed Amazon with an explanation and received a partial refund. I did see this piece all put together at a local Big Lots, and it seemed quite nice and sturdy and would have been perfect for our kitchen I would say that if you have above-average experience with RTA furniture, go for it. Though my husband and I have put together other furniture in the past, this one stumped us. We ended up with a foldable mission-style bookcase instead-took it out of the box, set it up, no problems!

I bought this cabinet a couple of days ago and was very excited about it. We wanted to use it as a storage unit for my elderly mother's painting supplies in the kitchen next to her chair. It took me about 2 hours to put it together. Very inferior quality. Cheap particle board and what looks like plastic laminate all over. First, sides did not line up very well and I had to force it. The backing is just a thin piece of cardboard and to install it you have to be very careful not to overshoot the particle board and nail into the inside of cabinet, which I did once. It chipped off about an inch of the inside. After getting it all put together the door does not close. There is plenty of room at the top and the bottom for the door to close however, the problem is in the middle. I checked all of the hardware and it seemed to be fine. Looking at it from a distance you can see the front leg (brace)is warped. I'm very disapointed because it's a very pretty piece. I'm taking it back to the store today. Granted, I bought it from Big Lots for only $79 but I'm glad I didn't buy it from other places for over $100.

Do not, under any circumstances, purchase this item. The assembly instructions are confusing & incomplete. The pressed wood is flimsy. Bolts, cam locks, & dowels simply fall out & cannot be locked into place. This is junk. Fine firewood, perhaps, but nothing else.

Want Mission Single Door Pantry Cabinet Discount?

A piece of crap. Took several hours to attempt to assemble. The wood pieces and screw holes did not line up and I had to attempt to MacGyver it to make it work. Once it was FINALLY together, it looked flimsy and lopsided like something out of a Seuss book. I put my items in it anyway. It promptly collapsed. I was so angry that I took it to the curb.

It could have been a cute piece of needed furniture. Do not waste your money. I will never purchase Ameriwood products again.
