Sauder Harbor View Bookcase - Antique White

For the cheap price this is sturdy. It is made from particle board and better MDF (medium density fiberboard) The turned legs are real wood. The color is a little pinkish and very creamy! The shelves are thicker than average, are very heavy and have nice rounded edges. The little " wood grain" lines are a little cheap looking ( if you look closely) on this cream version, but look better on the black version we bought at lowes online. This shelf has a lot of design detail to it. This just happened to fit perfectly in an empty structural alcove we had. we did not use the included bead board backer or one of the shelves. This shelf was wedged in, trimed on the sides and spray painted with the wonderful sherwin williams duration paint, the same color as the walls. Looks like a neat built in now. It is used to openly house guest room linens.

This was cheaper than a carpenters estimate, and other shelves we found were crazy priced or other issues.

I bought three pieces of Sauder's Harbor View, all in Antiqued White color.

1) two libraries with open shelves and one library with cabinet on bottom. I could not be more pleased. I've read other people's reviews not recommending these pieces. I have no experience with Sauder's other product lines and colors, so what I say here is in regard to Harbor View Antiqued White.

1) If you need a particular piece of furniture for an event (like guests are coming), you have to give yourself and the manufacturer three months' lead time. If you need a piece of furniture fast, buy from your local furniture store at ten times the price.

2) Yes, pieces are going to arrive damaged. Of the above-mentioned order, FedEx had done something drastically damaging to two of the three bookcases in transit, sent the boxes back to the shipper, I got notified through FedEx tracking about the delay and why, and in two weeks, two replacement bookcases arrived. In addition, of all three bookcases, one or more individual pieces arrived damaged.

Sauder.com has an wonderful all-automated way for you to notify them of exactly which pieces you need replacements for; within two weeks, the pieces arrive. All of this is done no-charge. I order the replacement parts, whoosh, whoosh, whoosh. No fuss, no muss.

3) 95% of whether your bookcase comes out right or not is the responsibility of the installer. Regarding cabinet doors, you have to tweak them to get them to line up, and/or shut properly. In any case, you don't have to live long-term with feeling dissatisfied--do something about it! Our cabinet doors came out ABSOLUTELY PERFECTLY because my hubbie is a woodworking hobbyist and knows how to finagle cabinet doors "just so." If your cabinet door is not right, there are only two possibilities: a) the door is defective, in which case go on the Sauder website and order a new door. b) Whoever installed the door didn't know what they were doing; view videos on YouTube on how to finagle a cabinet door. Or both. But stop complaining.

My experience of Sauder has been positive. Don't expect Sauder's furniture to be high-end. I call Sauder's Harbor View product line as "high-end Walmart," because that's what it is. Sauder's products I call "honest" furniture: it isn't touted as being anything than what it is, and has a low price-tag to boot. We call them big Heathkits, without the electronics.

On the other hand, honesty is not what you get when you go furniture-shopping at midto high-end furniture stores (like EthAl). They have what I call "fake" furniture because when you "look under the hood," it is no better than Sauder's: they attempt to convince you that pieces deserve astronomically high price-tags, and charge 10 x Sauder. Go shopping to any EthAl stores and inspect the innards of cabinet pieces (like wall units), you'll see how thin the sides and tops are (they hardly qualify as being sides and tops) and that many of the surfaces are no more than a veneer with fancy sprayed-on lacquers. There is very little (if not no) solid wood involved.

FURNISHING WHOLE HOUSE

Just so you know, over the next year, I'm furnishing our whole house with Sauder's Harbor View Antiqued White pieces, from armoires to dressers to TV credenzas to bookcases to desks. On a budget, I will furnish a whole house for under $5,000. Try to beat that. We'll be getting two or three pieces at a time over the next year-and-a-half. Only after one batch gets installed do we order the next batch of 2,3 pieces. If you go to a furniture store, you can easily spend $5,000 merely on a wall unit; you go broke real fast. Since I'm sticking to one product line/color, over time we will move be able to swap Harbor View pieces from room to room and it'll still all match.

I wish the Harbor View product line included a tall and thin (15"-20" wide x 72" or higher) bookshelf/cabinet combo like Walmart's Better Homes and Gardens Cottage Linen Tower but taller. I got a piece like this from Walmart to be store toilet paper and books and doodads. I wish it had a little drawer (I'll probably put a basket on one of the shelves).

I wish the Harbor View product line contained executive desks and cabinet and bookcase combos, which would be in my sewing room as a crafts' center with sewing machine as top-billing.

I bought two Sauder armoires. One we put together this weekend and one has replacement parts pending. Like I said before, ordering replacement parts is not only typical; it's a given. So don't slam the manufacturer or distributor for faulty pieces; it can't not happen. That's why you bought your DIY well ahead of time! Because we are using the armoires to store bed linens and towels (not TV), my hubbie added shelf-holes. We'll build a couple shelves for each armoire.

Regarding touchups: The surface appears to be a thin contact paper and *WILL* need touchups now and then. I disagree with using Sauder's touchup "wax"--we tried it and actually made the boo-boo far worse. For touchups, I'll be using Valspar paint color Woodrow Wilson Blush 3002-8BC. I'll let you know how it turns out.

I just moved into my new home and have a niche on each side of my fireplace. I had originally thought about having shelves put in until I found these bookcases, they fit perfectly into the niche. I do have to say that they did arrive with some of the pieces damaged but I was able to get one bookcase complete with pieces from the other. I went to the customer service center online and ordered the other pieces (so easy to do), they arrived within a week, undamaged.

Also, be sure to have someone help you get these inside as they are EXTREMELY heavy to lift.

I received the Harbor View Bookcase last night. First, it was delivered 5 days earlier than expected which is always a plus. Second, all the pieces and parts were included, nothing missing. Third, My 13 year old daughter and I put the bookshelf together in about 3 hours. Fourth, nothing was damaged. Purchasing this piece of furniture could not have been any better than it has turned out. It is a very pretty and sturdy bookcase. Most important, my daughter loves it!

The bookcase is built beautifully and is very heavy/sturdy, but it isn't packaged very well. Upon putting our bookcase together we had several places where it was chipped, dented, or actually broken. After gluing a few pieces we were able to set it up, but the books case looks years older than it is.

Component DVD Shelf Wall Mountable w/cable management for TV Mount

We decided to buy two of these shelves & mount them one on top of each other. It turned out better than I would have thought. The shelves seem extremely sturdy and well made. They are a gorgeous black glass & the back part has plenty of space to hide all wires. Would recommend this product to anyone at all. They shipped quickly too & were not too pricey!

Very nice looking glass shelves. I had no trouble assembling and mounting it myself. Although, getting it perfectly level is almost impossible, I did get it very close. The cable management is fair. There's a trick to it though. Run as many of your wires as you can before you attach it to the wall. Otherwise, the hole at the top isn't big enough after an HDMI or two. This can also reduce the risk of fraying your wires because parts of the back plate aren't smoothed very well.

The weight specifications in the description are not he same as what is printed on the box. The box says 75 lbs., if I recall correctly. It doesn't really matter which is correct (although I'm inclined to believe the box). It's unlikely that you have any heavy equipment that will fit.

From the description: "? Any Other Audio Video Component." While this is technically correct, it's also meaningless. Yes an amplifier/receiver will fit on one of the shelves but that's it. There isn't enough room to connect A/V cables or speaker wire, with or without banana plugs. The shelves would need to be at least another three inches deeper to be suitable for a receiver. Regardless, I din't buy it for my receiver and neither should anyone else. It's fine for just about any other equipment I can think.

I have a Wii and Wiimote induction charger on the top shelf. Middle is for the Blu-ray player. The bottom shelf has my wireless keyboard and a line conditioner.

All in all, I like it. The fact that I couldn't get it perfectly level is the only thing that really bothered.

This shelf is very sytlish and looks beautiful on our wall below my tv mount. The black finish on the columns is a polished finished and blends in with my black tv. The glass shelves are very heavy duty. The glass seems thicker and heavier than other models I have seen but cannot be sure. The cable management column is a little tight for many cables I have behind it , but I prefer the slim profile which offers better aesthetics. Overall great value and functionality from this shelf. I would buy again.

The quality for the price is unbeatable. However, if you only have simple components, DVD, Wii, Cable box, this shelf unit is over kill. We ended up keeping the shelf unit even after seeing how large it was. The shipping to send it back would have been outragous, it is so heavy. Would have given 5 stars but the assembly was really awkward not hard but the weight of the shelves kept moving the pieces which made it hard to fasten together.

Homelegance Benton Desk and Chair Set, Cherry Finish

The size is ideal for a small corner, however, the box was delivered damaged and all the hardware to assemble both the desk and the chair was missing. The box contained very little information on contacting the desk manufacturer to obtain missing pieces/hardware.

The desk is nice once put together BUT!!!! IF my husband wasn't here to put it together (who has the patience of Job), it would have ended up in the trash because the packaging literally fell apart and could not have been used to ship back. There is a little damage from shipping but not noticeable once we placed it in the corner. The wood is decent and I like the fact that the chair matches. If assembly had not been next to impossible for myself I would have rated it a 5 star for the finished product.

ClosetMaid 15-Cube Organizer

This is an excellent storage cube for shoes. It is very sturdy and the white color lets the shoe colors show up well in my closet. It is just what I was looking for. It was easy to assemble and is veyr sturdy.

It was easy to assamble, and it is wonderful for little kid's shoes (and that was the main reason why we purchased it). If you want to store adult shoes,you will probably have to use one cube per shoe, though.

I wear a womens size 10 shoe and I can fit all of my shoe in pairs in the cubbies, however my husbands size 14's only fit one per hole. We had a large set of shelves that we used to hold our TV and other miscellaneous items.. until we had a baby! Then it turned into a bookshelf & toy shelf. The books & toys would slip through the shelves, so we purchased a few of these shelf inlays and VOILA! Instant book shelf & toy shelf. We had previously tried one of the thinner, clear plastic shelf liners, but it was entirely too thin. These inlays are sturdy and hold up to our toddler. I wouldn't, however, but a 200 lb TV on them. I'm pretty sure they are particle board with some type of plastic laminate covering, but they definitely hold up well for our needs (books, toys, things slammed against them, water & milk dripped on them, etc). They are a little bit flexible when you are holding them up in the air, but once you put them down on the shelf, they are solid. I am planning on buying more for our office shelves.

RipOff is the only word needed to decribe this product. The title says it is plastic, but it is nothing but a cheap cardboard that is less sturdy than the cardboard box it is shipped in. The add reads like you are getting more than one for the price, which I figured was 5 becouse there are 5 shelves on the stand it is made for, but that price of $18.69 is for one only, and with the shipping charges of $14.99 that brings your total to a grand total of $33.68 for something that is worth less than the box it was shipped in. I'v been Rip-off'd in the past ordering over the internet, that is just the risk you take buying sight unseen other than a picture, but I have to say this makes the top of the list for me. I would send it back, but that would cost me another $9.60 in shipping to get $9.09 back ! I guess looking on the brighter side I do have a pattern to cut the box up for another two inlet liners.

I bought a TechCraft TV Stand for my 73-inch TV on Dec 6, 2007.

On June 8, 2012, the top glass shattered into thousands of pieces for no apparent reason, causing my TV to fell to the floor.

The company do admit glass do sometime shatter, but they refuse to pay for any damages. They even request that I pay and order a replacement glass. So do your TV a favor, Do NOT buy any product from TechCraft!

This stand looks awesome and is very sturdy. It's an excellent fit for the 82" Mitsubishi DLP TVs (WD-82xxx). For perfectionists, I probably should mention that it is not a 100% fit as the TV will stick out about 1/2" on each side. (TV is wider than stand).

The stand is very well packaged. The shipper had placed the package with the stand on a pallet *underneath* the 160lbs monster of a TV. Despite that the package was crushed and cracked open in shipping from AZ to NC, all parts were intact! Amazing. The stand was easy to assemble and is VERY sturdy. The stand ships with five 5/8" hard plastic feet with 1/4" thread. After assembling the unit, I realized that these feet probably provide too little surface and will dig into our hardwood floor and make the stand difficult to move for accessing the rear panel or for cleaning. (At least this is the case if you are placing this stand in a corner). Even without TV on top, the stand was difficult to move with the provided feet. I decided to replace the five feet with 1" felt padded feet by Feltgard #9908 from the Home Depot. These let the unit easily slide on a hardwood floor giving me easy access to the rear panel of the TV to connect/disconnect gear.

As others have stated, this stand fits the 82" Mits TV like a glove. Only a couple of things to be aware of. If you're using this with the 82" Mits, there isn't room on the top shelf for your center channel speaker. In my case, the center channel speaker would not fit on second shelf and would only fit on the bottom shelf if you put it in from the center (with the top 2 shelves removed). Not a big deal, but if you have a larger speaker you'll want to make sure you have a place for it. Also for assembly, there are a couple of screws that are different sizes, but look almost identical. Make sure you identify them before putting it together.
