So, fine as a cheap storage solution for lightweight items like sweaters, shoes, DVDs, but I wouldn't put hardcover books on them or stack very high. I'll be keeping a close eye on the board under my computer!

Be certain to note the item's measurements. I was negligent and implicitly made assumptions from the product photo. I thought '2 row bookshelf'. Two rows is correct, however a paper back book will not fit into it. The inside height of a row is 6.5 inches. It is not a book shelf. Mea Culpa. The product is sturdy and light-weight as advertised; much preferable to standard press board shelves.

I'm very pleased with this little shelf. Our flatscreen TV was too low to the ground in its recessed square wall cubby so I bought this to raise it up above great dane level. It supports the weight of the TV just fine and now I can still see most of the tv when the dog walks by. Looks very sleek and arrived without a scratch on it. It was easy to put together with just a screwdriver and all the pieces lined up perfectly. My only complaint is that the black "caps" to cover the screw heads don't fit and are useless. Not a big deal for me, but may be for other buyers.

I should have listened to the other poor reviews the quality of this product is terrible. I purchased a 48" and 2 24" shelves and the finish on all three was completely ruined as if they had packed the product before drying was completed or they got overheated and the plastic melted into the finish. The corners were frayed and the hardware for the shelves is completely useless so soft twisting once with a high-power Dewalt drill practically eats the screw heads in their entirety. The weight of the 48" shelf is too heavy for the simple anchor construction so we may have to reinforce if we actually want to put anything on the shelf.

Don't waste your money on this shelf. The quality is absolutely horrible, not to mention it arrived damaged in numerous places.

Badger Basket Five Basket Storage Unit

This is a decent storage unit that I bought to match my 11 y/o son's new bed. When I received the box in the mail I was taken back by how you have to assemble the entire thing, even the baskets! Luckily I'm a handy gal and it took me about a hour to assemble with a screw driver. What I did run into was some of the pre-drilled screw holes were drilled too big to take the screws so I had to find bigger screws. I also found that on one of the baskets the pre-drilled holes were drilled on the wrong sides of the basket. I was able to fix this and the basket liner did cover up the incorrect screw holes for $119 I think the quality should be a bit better. It looks nice put together but I cross my fingers that no one sits on this being it's about chair height it would fall apart. It should do the trick as a bed side table and to store some light things but it is not too sturdy. The top piece of wood is very nice and has a nice wood pattern in it, but the rest of the unit is very very light wood. If you do buy this unit, Be gentle with it!

To pay over $100 for this storage unit I thought might be well worth it, until my husband put it together... it was made out of very cheap wood and the wood tried to split in many different places when we had to screw the parts together. It looks nice when it's put together, but the materials are very poor quality. Definitely not worth the $130 you pay for it...

I initially bought this storage unit for my nursery. It ended up not matching the other cherry furniture I had in the room. The color for this product is very light cherry. We ended up using it in our game room for extra storage. Its relatively small, but looks nice. Not sure how long it will hold up....some of the baskets are slightly unweaving already.

I don't usually write negative product reviews since I can usually find something to like about my purchases. That being said, I felt it necessary to write this review and let people know how cheap this storage unit really is. The wood is so light and flimsy that it feels like the wood used for model airplanes. The baskets feel as if they will splinter into pieces at any moment, and we don't even have anything in them yet! No instructions were included in the package, so my husband just had to figure it out; it was fairly simple, yet the lack of instructions was frustrating. The cloth liners for the baskets were fairly stiff, so I decided to wash them before putting them in.... my mistake. The seams on the liners came apart in several places after only one wash (on gentle, no less.) The only reason we aren't sending this back is because our baby is due any day and we don't feel like taking this back apart and looking for a new one. It looks nice when everything is put together, but we're almost afraid to touch it, let alone actually put items in/on it. Overall, we're pretty disappointed with the terrible quality for the price.

We received the unit and upon unwrapping we found that the "baskets" are not really baskets, they do not have a nice back (with an open back unit) and they don't even have a bottom, just the cloth inserts. That was enough for us to return the unit.

Purchased this shelving system for all of my husband's many tools. It is a solid system and can hold a good amount of moderately heavy items such as drills and hand saws. I followed the directions given with this product stating the maximum weight each shelve could hold. Overall, a nice product helps keep the garage organized so the tools are not all over the place and there is space for the car.

very sturdy shelves, but yes, they were hard to fit together as the tubes were so tight with the holes. after calling plano, the solution is simple: use a lubricant like WD-40 and if necessary, a flat piece of wood (to avoid hitting the plastic directly and spread out the force) and a light duty hammer.

After looking at flimsy steel shelving overrated to misleading weights with paint that will likely not prevent rust, I chose this unit. I also looked at other plastic shelves made of thinner or seemingly brittle plastic. Some plastic shelves have an inherently weak design. This shelf seems to be made from a strong yet not brittle plastic with a strong design. It has confidently handled my storage of car parts and tools; so well that I bought a second and, recently, a third. My only complaint is that it is not deeper.

Although it took some effort, I fit it together without a hammer (I am a man of modest size and strength at that). I think it takes me about fifteen minutes to unpack and assemble. The two minutes or whatever could only come with practice and the intent of breaking a record.

I'm a big fan of heavy-duty plastic shelving for my basement, but the interlocking feature is key for me. Used to be able to buy them at Lowes or Home Depot, but seems like they're now interested in slightly cheaper sets with no interlock.

The interlock feature allows for a row of 3 or 4 shelf sets to be much more stable, and the weight of the whole unit stabilizes an individual shelf. Good stuff !

This unit doesn't compare favorably with the unit I purchased at Sam's Club a few years ago. It's just ok for my purpose. My real gripe is that it arrived in pieces. Four of the five shelves had the side tabs broken off. The tabs are what lock it to a companion unit if desired. It had obviously been dropped but the packaging did not show evidence of abuse. So I suspect I was sent a damaged unit. I put this in a far corner of a storage room and the structural integrity appears ok. If this was destined for a location that could be seen, it would be on it's way back by now. I would not buy this again even if not broken.

These bins stack very well (only with other bins of same size), hold lots of small to medium pieces, and don't have any corners that things get stuck in. The bins are very rugged. They have room for a label tag in front, and accept front-to-back dividers. A rack is available to hang bins on. Another option (not sold at Amazon) is a clear plastic lid. Bins come in choice of three colors.

Cons:

Don't stack at all with different sized bins. A bit expensive.

i got the black Atlantic 3020 in the mail yesterday and had it put together in about 10 or 15 minutes. i can fit about 220 dvds on the thing, a huge improvement over having the wobbly stacks taking up a corner of floor in my room.

It looks attractive, with a smooth flat balck finish, and seems very sturdy (especially with the provided wall strap for anchoring). If you use this rack strictly for DVDs, and sit them in horizontal rows, you will only be able to fit 6 tiers (leaving two extra) on the rack.

I already have more DVDs than this unit can occupy so i have this idea. The unit seems more than sturdy enough to hold more tiers, and because of my limited floor space, building this thing up vertically would be necessary. I purchasing another Atlantic 3020, and incorporating the parts into the existing stand to make it about 6 or 7 feet high and hold about 10 or 11 tiers. I'm very confident after seeing the construction and utilizing the wall strap that i can pull this off.

All in all i think this is a great unit and would recommend it to anyone who needs a space-effictent media rack.

At the time of my purchase, the black model was 30 dollars more than the chrome model. I don't quite understand that, but the thing is well worth it either color you choose.

After collecting DVDs for years, my collection quickly rose to the quadruple digits. I've tried the wood shelves (good but often too short and too wide), the spinning shelves (holds a decent amount but takes up too much space) and the wireframe shelves (hold low amounts of discs but saves a lot of space). I figured I'd give this one a try due to the low space it uses (due to its height) and the amount of discs it holds.

A correction to the amazon description: According to the box, it only holds up to 450 DVDs (not the 564 they list)

The first thing that came to mind while assembling this disc was the quote above "You're only as strong as your weakest link".

You do get a number of metal pieces but the feet feel like a light plastic, as do all of the clips. The 'feet' screw into the bottom of each pole but don't screw in completely (this allows them to spin, but also not feel as strong as they should be).

The clips are 2 plastic pieces that 'click together' onto the pole, and then you slide the metal shelves onto it until it locks in place.

Unfortunately, while it is made out of metal, the pieces don't appear to be the sturdiest. The unit comes with 12 shelves and 3 of mine arrived damaged (one of them had the rear disc-holder (that keeps you from pushes cds/dvds off the back of the shelf) bent completely below the rest of the frame. The other 2 damaged pieces arrived with the holes (that you slide onto the metal poles) bent to the point that you can't even put those shelves onto the unit. If they arrived like this, it leaves me a little worried on just how well it will hold up over the years with many pounds of weight placed on them.

Fully put together, I like the size. It's about 6 feet tall and 3 feet wide. It does seem to lean forward when not filled, so I would highly suggest using the included wall-mount to prevent it from tumbling.

A few disappointments with the design: it has trouble holding non-standard sized cases. This means that while it will hold CD's and DVDs, cases like PSP UMD's will not fit due to the metal wireframe. Fortunately, Blu Ray and HDDVDs do fit.

Also, if you set the shelf size to fit a DVD case, it will just fit a standard sized case (if you try to use one in a cardboard slipcover, the bottom wiring of the shelf above will prevent it from fitting into certain areas (it will still fit on the sides of these areas, but not directly beneath them) this has caused me to re-arrange some of my movies (taking them out of order) to get them to fit.

Overall, while it isn't the quality I hoped for, if it stays as sturdy as it is (meaning: does not bend further than the way it was when it arrived, and does not collapse) I'll be happy with it.

UPDATE: Sept 2008

After moving the shelves to a new location (where they werent tied to a wall), they came crashing down hard. The shelf comes off balance easily (such as if you bump into it) so be careful not to leave it somewhere that it can cause damage (the combination of height, metal and weight of hundreds of movies falling will do some damage). I still recommend it for the fact that its the tallest DVD shelf with the smallest footprint that I've seen.. just take caution and have it secured.

First of all, I am going to buy another one, so I don't think it is all that bad. But it is advertised as a rack for DVDs, and it wasn't designed well for that. They give you 5 shelves, but it requires an 8 inch space between shelves to hold the semi-standard single DVD (forget a boxed set, which is taller). The posts that hold the shelves are 29 inches long. Let's see...29 divided by 8 per shelf???? Even if you leave the top shelf at the very top of the posts, you end up with 3 tight shelves, 1 on the top that provides no support, and one shelf of 4 inches in height. No problem, you can just lay your remaining DVDs down, right? Nope, they figured that out in advance and made the damn thing a quarter of an in too narrow to allow three stacks. (That's okay, if you lay them down they just fall out the back anyway.(

Still for the price it will hold a lot of DVDs, I'll just have to order another to hold the rest. A couple of tips: The shelves are supported by little plastic clips that the corner of the shelf slips over. If you snap both halves together, they will not slide up and down, even without a shelf on them. The trick is to snap the first half onto the post, and then slide it up or down until you feel/hear the little "click", which means it has found the groove in the post. Then it is easy to snap the other half on at the same height, because they interlock. It will still be fun forcing the shelf down on all four corners to the same height, but then, it's flexible enough not to be an issue. Second, the little wire supports that are meant to keep things from falling over are virtually worthless if you have the shelf fairly full. Save them for the ends of that top shelf that is hanging out in space, to keep the discs on that shelf from toppling off the side of the shelf.

Putting the shelves together was relatively easy. After I had put it together, I changed my mind on the vertical spacing I wanted between shelves. It was easy to change the heights of the shelves.

These shelves are advertised for holding DVDs and CDs. I use it for holding DVDs and VHS tapes (yes I still have some).

I give this rack system five stars because of the ease of set up, ease of changing shelf heights, and the quantity of DVDs that it can hold, and the price. I am sure you can find better (sturdier) shelving, but at what cost?

I have not yet used the straps that come with the rack for anchoring the shelves to the wall. The foot pieces can be adjusted. I adjusted the front legs to be a bit taller than the back legs so that the rack naturally wants to tip back into the wall. If you are worried about a small child trying to climb up the shelves, you should use the wall straps.

If/when I fill this DVD rack and need more storage space, I will buy another one of this brand and size of rack.

Nice fit and finish at a good price. It is darker than the picture. I don't know why one reviewer had trouble putting it together; everything fit together better than any other boxed furniture I've assembled. All of the holes matched up. The only tool needed is a medium size Phillips screwdriver. The instructions are pretty much just drawings, but they are clear and there is nothing complicated about the assembly. (If you've never encountered those screw-disks before, just know to insert them so the opening points to where the screw will be inserted.)

Two recommendations on putting this together: (1) Use a power screwdriver/drill. My drill battery was drained, so I turned all screws by hand. The 20 screws for the back panels and 28 for the door left me a little sore and blistered. (2) Put the shelves in before adjusting the doors. This is probably obvious to everyone else, but I wasted a lot of time trying to adjust the doors so they met before I realized the shelves serve as a stop. After that, adjusting the doors was easy. Turning the "width" screw on each latch did it for me. I adjusted the doors so there was maybe a quarter-inch gap between the door and the side, using a flashlight to check that the gap was consistent from top to bottom.

A friend recently moved cross country and got rid of most of her furniture before moving. She had been using an old bookcase for her TV stand and had pretty limited space in her living room. I sent this to her as a house warming gift. She was THRILLED with it. When she called to say thank you, she reported "Wow, this is my only real piece of 'grown up' furniture!" She really likes the slight bowing on the sides and said that the finish is even and rich in color. She said that it gave the piece real character. She did said that it did take her a couple hours to put together but once it was together, it was very stable and was didn't have any wobble even with her heavy television on it. I'm tempted to replace my existing entertainment center with the larger version of this product after hearing her response to it. I would highly recommend it...as would she. :)

We had been looking for an audio cabinet for months because of a room reconfiguration. These turned out to be the perfect size and color for the area. The directions were not "Step by step" but were easy enough to work through. The first cabnet (we ordered 2) went together in about 1 1/2 hours. The second took about 40 minutes. The cabnets are solid, hold large audio equipment and have enough air to keep things cool. The glass hinged doors fit and work well and are really easy to adjust if needed. The only improvement that could be made would be to the back of the cabinet. The back comes in 2 pieces (which can leave a gap in the middle if you're not careful with assembly and the "Cut outs" for wire access are not optional, they are pre cut and open. All in all we are very happy with the purchase and would do it again. Delivery was quick and everything arrived in great shape.

This ready-to-assemble (RTA) cabinet was actually an enjoyable project to build (with two people), and the finished cabinet is a handsome addition to our living room. The packing of the parts is a work of art that fully protected everything from any damage during shipping. The reviews of others were invaluable to us for two reasons: a) they accurately pointed to a well-designed product that is a great value for the money and b) gave us tips based on the real-world experiences of others that helped us avoid frustrating and puzzling challenges along the way. Most RTA instruction booklets leave out, incorrectly identify, or inaccurately explain the project ... and this one's no exception. You won't be sorry you spent the time looking over other reviews, especially about the use of a manual vs. power tool; the shelving going in prior to the doors going on; and the adjustment of the doors. Our booklet actually had an illustration that was for a different hinge (and with inaccurate direction for changing door height). The reality is that a 1/8" difference can't be seen from the perspective of a standing adult ... or one across the room viewing the TV. Sometimes we look for perfection where it isn't called for. Bottom line: a great buy, a sturdy cabinet, a good looking finish and design.

This is a great little kitchen hardwood cart. The price can't be beat for such high quality. I ordered this item and it arrived super fast, in excellent packaging and with the most complete instructions for assembling something that I have ever seen. Leisurely taking my time, the cart was very easily assembled in 1.5 hours... someone who was moving quickly could likely get it assembled in 30 45 minutes. Again, with the great instructions, I think even an untrained chimp would be able to easily assemble this cart :-)

If you are looking for a high quality smaller sized hardwood cart for your kitchen then you've found what you're looking for. The price and quality just can not be beat! I love this little cart and consider it a smart purchase.

The Cart is made of wood, which is a big plus. I bought the Cart to put in my kitchen to blend with a Oak Shelf Unit. It doesn't blend. The Cart has two different wood shades instead of all one color. It is also very rough. The finish should have been sanded to a smooth finish, but it is not. It's not what I expected.

Four stars for decent quality and moderately easy assembly. I spent a tad over one hour assembling the unit with only minor difficulty in interpreting the drawings. We store cookbooks in the cabinet and drawer, and have a large (ancient) microwave on top. The unit is solid, sturdy, and works very well for us. I consider it a good value for the price.

Stork Craft Beatrice 6 Cube Organizer/Change Table

This product looks great, feels sturdy, will grow with baby to toddler & beyond as storage, but takes a couple hrs to put together. Also we noticed a strong odor at first for the black color.

There are 2 big disappointments:

1. The size of the cubbiesthey don't fit any cube fabric organizers or drawers. The cubbies go deep & tall but need narrow basketsthink rectangles & not squares. I'm sure we'll find something to fit it eventually.

2. The puny changing pad makes you want to buy a contoured pad that won't end up fitting the top, so don't waste your money. I guess one could just not install the top pieces, but that's what adds the flair. (The pad size from assembly manual states it is 78 cm x 38 cm x 2.5 cm.)

We also purchased the Beatrice 4-drawer dresser to match but haven't put it together yet. Lesson learned: Pay attention to measurements!

Cubes are not standard size and therefore we cannot find any fabric bins to fit! Terribly designed product, very disappointed.

I love the look and quality of this piece of furniture, but I wanted a contoured changing pad on it instead of just the basic flat one that comes with the piece. Unfortunately, the space for the changing pad is not wide enough for a standard size. It is only about 15 inches wide, and the standard size is 16. We chose a temporary fix to the problem by removing the back panel of the top of the changing table. With the pad secured on 3 sides, fastened to the table by the straps, and pushed up against a wall, I'm confident about the safety, but it was disappointing to realize it wasn't going to work as easily as I'd thought. I wish Storkcraft has made the piece just one inch wider!

It was easy to put together, came quickly, and was in great shape upon delivery.

I like this table because later it can become a bookshelf or other storage piece that's easily accessible by a toddler. As some reviews state, it does not accommodate those bins you can slide in, but it can fit other plastic storage pieces. If the cubbies were bigger, it wouldn't still be a regular-sized changing table and wouldn't fit standard-sized changing pads, etc. I like the storage cubbies and the style of this piece. Feels like good quality too unlike some modular furniture pieces which feel cheap. Worth the price in my opinion.

Beautiful & functional. Arrived in perfect condition and did not take too long to assemble (under 2 hours). Extremely sturdythis is a solid heavy piece. Disappointed the changing pad does not include a cover or straps, so you may wish to purchase that set separately. Just as advertised. We needed one more shelf to top an older metro unit I bought at the Container Store. They no longer carry this size. Was glad to find it online.

It says a set of four. I only received one, and at twice the price of a set of two sold elsewhere. We'll see if the company makes good on sending out three more. Probably too good a price for four, but description is emphatically wrong or at best misleading.
