Should of listened to the other reviewers on here. The shelves came bent to h*ll. they were bent so bad they were unusable. Ended up going with a different setup. Also looking at the quality of the shelves I couldn't see as flimsy as they were putting a heavy load on them. Avoid this item.

We ordered three of these metal shelving units for our basement. Did not need anything pretty and they were inexpensive. I can see why. It took two people and about an hour to assemble one shelf. Do not try it yourself. Once the frame was put together each shelf was a challenge. Sometimes the shelf needed to be bent a little to make the bolt go through and then it was a struggle to get the nut on. Magnetic Phillips is a must have tool. The manufacture design cuts a small square in each shelf corner for the bolt, but that hole does not always line up with the bolt hole in the frame. Sometimes we just gave up and used metal clippers and clip the metal off the square area so a bolt could go through. Then sometimes we had to put the bolt in backwards to make it easier to get the nut on, but now the bolt end sticks out. Some bending and twisting and pounding with a mallet was required. Once the side and back braces were put on the thing finally straighten out some. Finally it straightened out once it was attached to the wall for safety. By the time we came to the third shelf, the box was crushed on one side and we were unable to use any of the shelves. I contacted the given email at Edsal and they were very nice and sent five new ones that arrived in better condition. So I would not recommend buying these shelves unless you like a challenge, have patience and the tools. Next time I will spring for more expensive easer shelves like the Gorilla brand.

All the three sets of the product arrived with the shelve ends bent. I contacted the company requesting a replacement set so that I could complete the three sets I purchased with parts from it, however instead of recognizing the fact that I was trying to work with them and just send another set, they (the company) asked for pictures of each of the damaged components....frustrating.

I was able to cobble together three sets with the few pieces they sent, ( not all I requested to boot) but I do have extensive experience working metal. The average person would have a hard time with the product if received in the condition I did. Caution; sharp edges on some of the components.

In retrospect I should have returned their junk and demanded a full refund.

Very happy to find this roll-out lid/tray organizer. It was a perfect solution to my deep, under the counter cabinets where everything seems to get lost in the back.

Pros:

This unit was very easy to install and I am not the "do it yourself" type. Comes with clear and simple instructions. Instructions include words and visuals. All you need is a Philips screwdriver and a drill with a Phillips screwdriver bit. First you attach the pot lid holder loops to the top/sliding base. These are simple finger nuts that you tighten with the provided tool. Next you use the easy placement guide to find the correcting mounting placement for your base. This is a cardboard piece that folds over the lip of your shelf and assures that once mounted and put together, your cabinet drawers will close. You then use your drill with a Phillips screwdriver bit and attach it to the bottom of your shelf using the four provided wood screws. Finally you attach the top sliding part with 4 screw and a hand Phillips screwdriver. It is recommended that you don't use your power screwdriver or drill for this step. Don't worry. This is easy to do with a hand screwdriver. My 8 year old even helped. That's it. You are done! Took me about 30 minutes to install and that included emptying out the cabinet first.

Nice, heavy duty ball baring slides. Movement is smooth and easy, even with it fully loaded with my cast iron pot lids.

Whole thing is well made and heavy duty. Nice looking chrome. Put together it is solid and sturdy. Very glad I purchased this instead of a cheaper wire one. This will not bend or brake with my heavy cast iron pot lids.

Curved handle at the front of the rack makes it easy to pull out and push back into your cabinet.

Cons:

Yes, it does not extend fully like other models. It extends out about 3/4 of the way. Still works for my us, but this might be a deal breaker to some.

If you have a repositionable/removable shelf and you want to mount this unit to it, you will need to buy an L bracket or two and attach the shelf to the back wall/cabinet. Again an easy fix, but if you don't do this little extra step, when you pull out the organizer the weight shifts on your shelf and the back of the shelf comes up, tilting the whole shelf forward.

This unit claims it hold up to 18 lids. I guess it is possible if they are smaller lids, fully loaded mine is able to hold 3 large lids, 4 medium lids, and 2 small lids, for a total of 9 lids. All of my lids have handles including about half having loop handles as opposed to knob handles.

Claims you should have 2 inches of clearance on each side of the tray when the rack is placed on the top. Because my lids have loop handle, I have several larger lids, and because of the inside mounting hardware of my cabinet doors, I found it was best to place it about 4 inches from the inside wall. The correct placement of your organizer will depend what you are going to store on it and the mounting hardware of your cabinet doors.

I always dreaded digging around for the right size pan/pot lid. Even with an inexpensive wire organizer, I hated trying to pull out my lid without upsetting the other lids. We recently added several good-quality pull out organizers (Lynx and Rev-a-Shelf) that have changed a semi-functional kitchen into a space and patience saver. This lid organizer glide rights out, and holds six big glass Calphalon lids without trouble. Although the Lynx organizers are more expensive, there is a substantial quality difference between them and the cheaper stuff. You'll recognize the difference the first time you use it.

Lynk Professional is one of the few products worthy of the description. It looks and feels like a piece of furniture; no wobbling, no sticking. I'm only somewhat handy, but this was easy to install with the clear, foolproof instructions (visuals and words), individually packaged pieces and tools, and included guide for placement. The only additional tool I needed was a cordless drill for the starter holes.

Important Note: You'll need 2" of clearance on both sides of the drawer. I have the space but didn't notice if it was in the description here.

These folks have done DIY right. I won't buy any other brand for this type of need. I purchased this and the under-sink drawer, which is equally terrific.

Ladder 30"w Bookshelf

I bought this particular shelf because I liked the idea that it had four legs and didn't just lean against the wall like some ladder shelves. I have three little dogs running around, so I needed something fairly stable. It's been great! It looks great, seems to be of good quality and was relatively easy to put together. I have received complements on it!

Not bad for price, but recommend spending more more to get a more substantial product. Also, directions were not very clear and item's weight makes it not very stable. Also, does not hold very much and you would not want to put anything breakable on shelves.

I was a little annoyed when I first bought this shelf because the brown version cost ~$90, while the white version that my wife wanted cost ~$170. At the price of the brown version, this would be a five star rating. The shelf is solid, went together easily, and is exactly what I wanted it to be. However, for roughly two hundred bucks I would've expected it to be made out of real wood, not chipboard.

I would highly recommend this shelf as long as you don't pay over $100 for it.

Rubbermaid Configurations 4-to-8-Foot Deluxe Custom Closet Kit

I have used all three of these. I first bought the Elfa (Container Store) for one bedroom. It was extremely expensive. Spent 5 times more than the others for something very simple. Everything is cut for you once you have the measurements. It is very sturdy and very well made, of course. It is probably over kill for a closet organizer. They have a lot of nice accessories for it and can be dressed up to look nicer than the others. Biggest negative which really surprises me since Closetmaid and Rubbermaid doesn't have this problem is you can't slide a hanger all the way across.

My next project was using Rubbermaid. I liked the idea it was adjustable. It was very easy to install. I bought the delux 8 feet kit. One problem is you will sometimes have left over parts and in my case I also had to buy one extra part since the way I wanted it was a little different that what options you had with their kit. After installing it I found I just didn't need to change it, so the adjustability probaly was not a plus for me but some people may want to make changes after using it for awhile. Biggest negative which really isn't a negative is that it is flimsy compared to the Elfa which is like a tank. That is because it is adjustable but it is sturdy enough. I have no problems with that. Another possible negative is it only comes with 12 inch shelves for closets. If you really need something bigger you can go into their garage sections which has 16 inches shelves.

My last project was Closetmaid. I used Closetmaid for my wife's closet since she wanted 16 inch shelves and I didn't feel it needed to be adjustable. Now if you don't want to be doing your own cutting which can be a chore without the right tools then go with Rubbermaid. But I have the right tools so cutting was not a problem. I bought mine at Lowe's. If you have all your measurements you can do the cutting their. They have a bolt cutter that cuts right through it. I did all my cutting at home since I have bolt cutters and metal saws. I like Closetmaid since it was sturdier than Rubbermaid and I just buy what I need. It also has a nice selection of accessories from wire drawers to shoe organizers. What I really liked is their clothes hamper. It pulls out on a slide then pushes in after you throw your dirty clothes in.

Now the surprise is the vertical hangers for all three companies all have the same slot design. How the verticals hang on the wall is differnt but once you have the vertical hangers secured you can interchange most accessories. I can install shelf supports for any company on any one of the vertical hangers. So I used the Closetmaid clothes hamper in my Rubbermaid closet. Closetmaid shelf supports and shelves will fit on the Rubbermaid or Elfa vertical hangers and vice versa.

If money is not a concern then buy the Elfa, built like a tank will last forever and looks better than the others with the right accessories.

Rubbermaid is the least sturdy of the three but does the job. It is very easy to put up so if your not handy around the house then buy this one. You also can easily make changes to how you want the shelves organized much more so that the other two. If you want 16 inch shelves then look at their garage organizers, the system is the same.

I like Closetmaid but it does require more work to put up since you have to do all the cuttings. It is much sturdier than Rubbermaid since it is meant to be permanent once you put it in. Shelves snap in place which took some effort and would be difficult to remove. Rubbermaid has a simple slide to lock shelves in so you can makes changes easily but then again you give up some sturdiness.

After having used all three systems for almost three years I can say all of them hold up well. I haven't had any problems so my original feeling that Rubbermaid tend to be flimsy is still not a problem. I don't think you can go wrong with Rubbermaid and it is very easy to put up and being adjustable gives you room to customize the way you want it. Having parts left over is more of a mental problem because the cost of the kit is still probably cheaper than buying each part by itself even with the left over parts or you can try using all of it. Also as I said before you can use Closetmaid accessories with Rubbermaid and although I like my Closetmaid clothes hamper it did fall apart which was replaced by Lowe's at no cost.

I recently did my daughters closet using Rubbermaid but these were not adjustable. You buy what you need and cut to fit (Home Depot). These being not adjustable felt much sturdier. I did find putting in the shelves to be easier than Closetmaid. Closetmaid shelves snap in and are very tight. The Rubbermaid ones were just easier in that it has a slide that locks the shelves in place but Rubbermaid is more expensive than Closetmaid so you pay for this one feature.

I wanted to post a review that addresses why a lot of people look into Rubbermaid Configurations to get a cheaper, comparable version of Elfa shelving. Some on here claim that this is just like Elfa, minus Elfa's high price. That's how I found out about Configurations and compared the two.

The problem was, my fiancee and I had already looked at Elfa shelving with the Container Store closet designer and had that system on our minds when I started looking at Configurations. It's not quite apples to apples as some people claim.

To look at the system, I ripped open a box at Target. Three things I noticed that made this system different.

1. Some of the smaller pieces are plastic. Elfa is all metal/steel. Granted its not the pieces that "count" i.e. the tracks, shelving. But its not quite the same quality.

2. The shelves are a foot deep at most, and there are no other options. With Elfa you have the option of getting deeper shelves and yes, for some folded clothes those extra inches matter.

3. As some on here have noted, for full closet systems you may end up buying two sets of the Configurations systems in order to get all the pieces you need. But I priced what I would have needed at around $200, which was $100 less than the comparable Elfa system for my closet.

This system is fine for kitchen, garage, office, kids room organization for this, Elfa is probably overkill. But for a master clothes closet, the shelf depth was the killer. I ended up biting the bullet and buying Elfa.

If you think this might work for a clothes closet, my suggestion would be to visit Container Store and get a closet layout from a consultant there. Then take that list and see how many Configurations sets you need for the same layout. You'll probably come out ahead cost wise. If you wait until Elfa is 30% off around the holidays, though, the gap will narrow.

Also worth mentioning is that the Configurations platinum system (and of course white) look very similar to the untrained eye to Elfa. So another option is to use this as your shelving and invest your money in the Elfa stand up drawer units to complete the closet. These are where the real expense is. But a combination of the two will give you a pretty killer closet.

My wife and I were looking for an open closet and got some quotes from MDF and wood closet makers. The ones that we cared for were above $800!

This system looks OK and is easy to install. We went for the Deluxe Kit, and we got some accessories too: two wire baskets and a trouser hanger. Everything was below $500.

It took me 12 hours (not one as other lucky reviewer), but that includes removing all the clothes from the other closet, removing the other closet, going to the hardware shop to buy a 3/8" drilling bit and anchors for masonry wall (ours is not drywall), drilling the masonry wall, installing the closet, trying different configurations, going to a Christmas Party in between, installing the accessories AND putting the clothes in the new closet.

Overall, one of the greatest gifts we bought for ourselves this christmas. I'm very happy with it. Yesterday I started rearranging it again to better optimize space.

Some words of advice:

1. The Deluxe kit we got comes with a LOT of shelves. But because we also got the accessories, we couldn't use all the shelves. I wonder if the Classic Kit + Accessories would have suited us better.

2. We got two shoe racks as accesories to this closet system, but returned them the next day (exchanged them for a wire basket). These take up too much space of the closet because you have to put them in the rails. It's simpler to purchase a longer shoe rack separately that you can put on the floor.

Excellent closet kit. We ordered two 4-8' deluxe custom kits. My husband and I each have an 8' closet. Kits were very easy to install. By the time we got to the second closet we were pretty fast. Took about 1 hour to install the second closet system. The closet design is great in that there is no cutting with the exception of the last rail cover. Love that the hangers slide easily, our previous closet "system" only allowed a couple of inches either way. The flexibility of the closet is amazing. We also ordered for my husband the shoe shelves, tie and belt organizer, and two sliding pants racks. For me I ordered three sets of shoe rods, two pants racks, and one sliding basket. We also ordered 3 upright extension rods for each closet due to the number of accessories we ordered. I had so much fun playing around with the expandable hanging rods, the shelves, and all the accessories. I now have my closet organized and I cannot believe how much room I have for everything. I even have "room to grow". I highly recommend this closet system.

We started our closet "improvement" by first going to the Closet Maid site & using their "free" online design tool. Being free, it was totally confusing & kluggy to use. So I then used their $5.00 premium online design service, which gave me (2) designs along with a parts list. This is the part that drove me crazy...the parts list was complete, but it directed me to retailers like Home Depot but the disclaimer states that "a particular store might not carry all the parts for your design"!!?? I then asked the CM site if we could order all the parts directly from Closet Maid, only to get an email back stating that their partnership agreement(s) requires them to direct us to Home Depot!! I could not bear the insanity of driving to half a dz. or more Home Depots looking to fill the Closet Maid parts list. Enough said, they eliminated themselves from consideration.

I then came across the Rubbermaid systems on Amazon and after reading the many positive reviews I took the plunge & ordered (2) 4-8 ft. & (2) 3-6 ft. Deluxe Custom Closet Kits to improve our small MB walk-in & my 12yr.'s 6ft. closet.

It took longer than 1 hr., but much less than 12 hrs (you will spent a great deal time measuring, climbing up & down the ladder, switching drill bits for screw tips, etc...), unlike several of the earlier reviews I had read. It took about 6hrs. total this past Friday to install (2) of the 3-6 ft. & (1) 4-8 ft. kits in our approx. 6' x 6' walk-in. The 1st kit took the longest. Once I understood how the first kit worked, I really cranked after that. A few crucial points:

1) Make sure you have a level (I found a 2ft. one worked great!), a good cordless drill with 2 fully charged batteries (if your screws hit studs, which is what you want, it will take a lot of juice)with good phillips screw tips and a sturdy 6' step ladder.

2) Get a 3/8" drill bit....most households typically won't have one larger

than 1/4"...this is the hole size for the sheet rock anchors. I didn't have one either so I had to go get one after opening the box! this is the only thing I had to buy, aside from the extra 25" vertical ext. bars & extra shelves. Rubbermaid also provided more sheet rock anchors than I needed (that's a first!). So unless you have a cinderblock or stainless steel wall in your closet, all the req. parts come in the kits.

3) MAKE SURE THE HORIZONTAL MOUNTING BARS ARE MOUNTED STRAIGHT & LEVEL (first thing that goes up)OR YOU WILL LIVE TO REGRET IT! USE THE LEVEL CONSTANTLY ON ALL THE HORIZONTAL & VERTICAL BARS!. After that, the brackets, shelves & hanging rods just pop in based on your configuration.

4) Buy extra 25" ext. bars, each kit only comes with (2) per kit. You will need the extras if you want to max. use on the kits.

All in all we rate this an excellent product. Quality was excellent (all the parts fit!). Instructions & assembly was clear & easy to follow and was actually fun once you got the hang of it. The Amazon pricing & free delivery made it a clear choice above competitors like Closet Maid & Elfa (The Container Store). And most of all it looks great (metallic/pewter coated finish) & works well. We figured it will take us an hour or so to install the last kit in my daughter's closet. We will definitely use their kits again.

These are exactly what I was hoping for, They are great. The only complaint I would have is to provide better wall anchors for them.

These shelves were very easy to install. The only complaint I have is that the included hardware, mainly the screws, are terribly weak. 2 of them had the heads twist off while I was trying to screw into the studs. I would recommend using different screws, and if needed different anchors. Other than that, the shelves seem to be very durable. I've had them up for a little under a week, so I can't claim to know anything about their longevity, and they are each holding 30 books which is about 20-25 lbs and they don't seem to be under stress at all...

-the included hardware sucks. Don't even bother with it. The mollies are completely useless.

-I am fairly confident that the description of "plastic coated steel" applies only to the shelves themselves. The brackets are totally plastic, which is a shame, because I bought these to put in my kitchen and I'm not at all confident having them anywhere in the vicinity of a heat source.

The brackets are also tricky to fit all 4 were a little smaller than I'd like, thus making installing it by yourself more difficult than it needs to be.

But, with all that whining out of the way, they're solid, and they look great.

The quality of the dresser is fair-poor. It's fairly flimsy, but overall I like the drawer space and the cubbies. We also use this as a changing table. We keep the diapers and all the wipes, diaper cream, etc in baskets in the cubbies it makes things very accessible. It was fairly easy to assemble. The doors slam loudly, but we just purchased some small sticky, foamy-like pads at home depot and placed them on the corners of each drawer so that when you close them they wouldn't bang shut; it has helped.

First, the "Baby Furniture Store" shipped us the wrong dresser (Amelia 4-Drawer Dresser in Cherry). The outside of the wrongly shipped package stated "Amelia 4-Drawer Dresser in Cherry", but to give benefit of the doubt we opened the package to confirm it was the wrong thing which indeed it was the wrong dresser. Upon contacting "Baby Furniture Store" by the only listed contact an e-mail address to tell them they shipped the wrong item, the then proceeded to tell us that indeed both the "Amelia" and "Chelsea" dressers were the same item. This was false advertisement as the dressers as showed by them had different pictures, different order numbers, and different names. We informed them of their errors, included links to their posted pictures, the order numbers as listed, and threatened to go to CSN if they couldn't provide the shown item (Chelsea 4-Drawer Dresser in Cherry). Then "Baby Furniture Store" through e-mail apologized, instructed us the procedure to ship the wrong item back (which they paid for) and shipped us the correct item.

On assembly, the instructions for placing the dresser drawer guides was reversed. Screwing the guides in is one of the first steps in the instructions. Upon realizing this fact after we had completed assembly and unable to slide the drawers in, we had to unscrew the guides and switch sides which was rather difficult on an assembled housing. On assembly of the dresser drawer itself, a cam-lock used to hold the drawer together broke in half. We contacted the manufacturer (Baby Appleseed) and they sent us a new cam-lock.

Now, we are happy with the product, but the whole experience was not enjoyable.

We are so pleased with this product. It is very sturdy and well made. It's a lot heavier than we anticipated and looks very nice. Just by looks, you wouldn't think it capable of holding as many dvd's as it actually does. We love it and it was the perfect addition to our room. I would without question recommend this product.

sturdy product but really only holds 624 cds.Each shelf has 4 cds that go behind the molding and cannot be accessed. if full,it is nearly impossible to get cds out. So i put 2 blank cases on either side of the shelf to act as spacers and added one less cd than full so cds can be removed. this puts 52 cds per shelf not the 57 they say. i can only assume this is the same for all this manufacturers triple and single storages. so take off 5 per shelf. each width has 6 shelves. so a single has 30 less capacity, double 60/ triple 90 less cd storage capacity. count well.was easy to build

With the new baby room, we need room elsewhere for all the DVD/Blu Rays. We wanted a wall mounted organizer and this looked like a good peice. Assemble instructions were easy and all the material was there. Everything is clearly marked and all you need is a screwdriver. I wish the shelves would have been a bit thicker, but there is plenty of support for them. Looks like I am ging to have to get the single wall mount now, since I have about 50 more DVDs that a home.

we've had this for about 2 months. So far, we are quite happy with it it wasn't too hard for Mom to put together although Dad did have to do the wall mounting. It has a good capacity (although in retrospect, I should have bought the triple one, but that's my mistake). Looks nice enough for the price and appears to be durable.
