Sturdy and stylish, with fairly lucid directions for assembly. It's not fine furniture, but it's several steps above IKEA and a good choice for home office or studio.

The unit is not solid black as pictured--it's got a rubbed finish with some touches of deep red showing through on the edge, quite nice.

The book case fit compactly in the corner of the kitchen w/o looking over towering. The shelves are deep; the style and finish isn't cheap looking, and construction solid. A great buy.

My 86 year old mother has a huge collection of framed family photos and has never had a place to display more than a few at a time. SMom had the photos packed in boxes and if she was ever going to spend time with the subjects in the pictures, it had to be soon. I looked at many bookcases before deciding on this one. The shelves were larger than other bookcases in this price range and I liked the overall look. My husband put the bookcase together easily but said he had to be careful with the backing as it was a bit flimsy. That's to be expected since this is not a $2,000 bookcase. Once assembled, the bookcase is sturdy enough for our purposes (not sure about loading it with heavy books) and looks great. Really much nicer than I expected. My mother LOVED it and started pulling out storage boxes right away. She had all 5 shelves filled with photos in 1 day and was thrilled with the final result. All her picture frames look great on the black bookcase. Mom's recliner is directly across the room from the bookcase and she is thoroughly enjoying viewing the fruits of her labor. I highly recommend this bookcase for display purposes. I don't think you can get a better style for the price.

I bought this because we had a piece in this same series/exact style, only short, and I liked the way it looked and its sturdiness. We got this tall bookcase to put photos of the kids, etc. (my wife wanted something like it for Christmas), as we had nowhere to put those things. It seems like it could hold books as well. I think it said each shelf holds 30 pounds, although the very top might be 15 pounds. We put it at an angle in the corner. The look is simple, and does not seem "modern" necessarily, as the black color might suggest, fitting in not only with the existing piece, but with our simple-style wood furniture. The edges are sometimes reddish rather than black, and this is fully on purpose to create a subtly "distressed" look. You have to put it together, but I enjoyed the process, all in all. Rather ingeniously conceived, really. All the needed pieces and hardware were there. All you need is a Philips screwdriver, and to pay careful attention to the pictured, step-by-step directions and the corresponding lettered or numbered hardware and pieces to put it together without problem. I paid careful attention to each step and positioning and had no problems. I am not always happy with the furniture I can afford, and hate things that don't go together well or that are wobbly or fall apart. Our previous piece by the same people has been fine, and this one seems great as well. I did not even resent the fact that it was made in China (as virtually anything affordable seems to be these days, sadly) after noticing/admiring how well it is prepared to be put together by someone who like me, who is not really "handy." The screws and pegs have guide holes. The main screws have to be put in with a hand screwdriver. The exception were the small screws for the back (holes there do not go into the material below the back piece). I switched to an electric drill/screwdriver for those to avoid the exertion and fatigue that was, ironically, resulting from those. All in all, though, I recommend this without any significant reservation and with full satisfaction. It looks great and serves its purpose admirably. I like the x pattern in the sides. Very simple and elegant piece, that can, I think, look somewhat formal or somewhat informal, blending with its surroundings. That's all I can think to say, except that my wife and I are both glad we bought it. I would not hesitate. M. B.

Holly & Martin Floating Shelf

I ordered this shelf to put over our little bar in the dinning room. I hung this above it and we hung all of our fun wine glasses and other drink glasses on this shelf!

It came as described length, height, and color. It holds up to 30 pounds which is great. I think that we are going to get a couple for our bedroom so we can lean pictures of our kiddos on them.

Everyone has complemented us on them and I would recommend this shelf to anyone! It looks very sharp and expensive!

These shelves are very nice. The are large enough to put many items on them. I have 48 in, 36 in, and 24 in and I am very happy with the size and basic quality of these shelves. They look great and hold lots of weight. I am buying more to put in other rooms in my house. You can't beat this price for these types of shelves that hold 30lbs.

Easy to install. Hold up the shelf frame to the wall and make sure it is level. Mark the holes with a pencil. If you aren't sure where your wood studs are, drive a screw into each hole to see if you hit wood. Drill the ones that don't hit wood and insert the plastic molly bolts. Screw the shelf frame onto the wall using the gold screws. Attach the shelf onto the frame and secure it in place with the silver screws included. One of the 4 shelves I bought could not be secured with the silver screws because my wall wasn't straight so the holes in the frame did not match up with the holes in the shelf. I could see where the outside edges of the shelf touched the wall, but the middle of the shelf was about 1/8" off.There are 2 holes in the bottom of the shelf that should line up with holes in the frame. You put a screw up through the bottom of the shelf to keep it from sliding forward off of the frame, but it really isn't necessary to do that unless your wall is going to vibrate from deep bass sounds. I could have drilled new holes into the shelf to match where the frame holes were. I may do that someday if needed, but so far, no problems without using those 2 screws. All of the other shelves lined up perfectly.

I have a small bathroom and lots of stuff. This shelf fits perfectly into the space around and above the toilet adding three handy, room shelves for stuff like shaving equipment and water pic.

Unlike some it is very sturdy, especially when I mounted it to the wall at one point. It is very nice looking, well designed. Unlike some over-toilet shelves (Etagere), it does not look cheap and flimsy. But unlike others, it is reasonably priced and easy to assemble.

The shelves are bowed out in the middle so it is not the full depth all along the width. That was good for me because I did not have to removes some wall fixtures to place it. The shelves are roomy and secure. The shelf glass is tempered and thick.

It looks great and it's very handy. I was going to build shelves but this is cheaper and better looking.

I did a lot of research looking at many models of Etagere and user reviews, and I am glad I picked this one.

I do not think this thing was worth the box it came in. It would not go together properly. At the very end you are supposed to screw on the top caps, but the screws did not stick up high enough to fasten. I do not know if it was user error (I'm usually pretty good at putting these kinds of things together) or if I got a defective product. Overall, I would not recommend this. Even if it had gone together properly, I do not think it looks worth the price it is listed for.

This is a helpful, simple, useful product. Works well in a small bathroom. Comes with excellent instructions. Tookjust few minutes to assemble, without tools. For safety, you may wish to mount to wall, but it's set up for that if you wish.

DO NOT order this product. A portion of it is plastic coated with a metal colored coating that scratches off easily, also the metal parts are lightly scrated and dented. After putting together 100 different parts, the shelf is so unsteady, I'm afraid its going to topple over at any time.

This space saver is fairly easy to assemble. However, in order for it to be remotely sturdy you'll need to attach it to the wall (which requires tools). If you omit this step, the unit is very wobbly and is not sturdy. It is very difficult to level this unit properly as well. Overall, I would consider this unit to be very poor quality and would suggest looking for something more sturdy.

This is a nice looking shelf, and the material, while not solid wood, seems to be a pressed wood with a plastic coating that should be durable. It was fairly easy to assemble. My only complaint is that the dimensions were not given in the item information, and it turned out to be bigger than I really wanted. I'll live with it, but it overwhelms my small bathroom. FYI, the measurements are 24 x 20 x 7 1/2.

I purchased this shelf to use in my daughter's bedroom because the louvred design matches her headboard/footboard.

What I liked:

Assembly instructions were clear. Everything you'll need is clearly marked.

The wall hanging kit is clever. It's not meant to be a floating unit so it's got 2 flat mounting brackets that screw into pre-drilled holes on the back of the unit. Each bracket has 3 screws to attach it to the back of the shelf.

It was easy to install.

It's really a nice-looking and nice-sized shelf. It doesn't look like it should be relegated to only a bathroom wall.

What I didn't like:

The unit was missing one screw. I was able to replace it with a comparable screw from my own toolbox.

The melamine coating cracked and flaked off in a few spots during assembly. For the most part, however, those imperfections are not noticeable.

The shelf backing is simply 2 white cardboard sheets. Pretty cheap, but again, this shelf is in a bedroom so I'm not concerned about moisture deteriorating the cardboard.

One of the pre-drilled holes was a little bit off, so on one of the mounting brackets, I could only use 2 screws, or else risk compromising the integrity of the pressboard composition.

All in all, I am extremely happy with this purchase

It's a very nice looking cabinet, and relatively easy to put together (good instruction pamphlet and pieces are well marked). However, as one would expect for the price, it is NOT made of wood, and the materials are pretty crappy. Would love to have this exact same cabinet made of real wood.

This is a great item for the price. As other reviews mentioned it is not made out of real wood but some sort of plywood with white vinyl sheeting. That being said, it looks awesome and is feels very solid. The only slight complaint I have with it is that it requires two metal brackets to be attached to it to install on the wall. These brackets come with the shelf but take away from the overall look when it is installed. Again, this is not a huge deal but just wish they had designed it so that these brackets were not visible.

Pros: pleasant style, nice size, functional storage, easy to assemble, good price point

Cons: thin veneer that chips easily when installing screws, missing one of the backing panels in my shipment (not critical to structure and I don't mind seeing my wall color through the back), dowel for hanging towels barely long enough to stay between pre-drilled holes (use wood glue), mounting hardware inadequate for weight (plan to have larger on hand).

Fine for an inexpensive piece. Just handle with care when putting together and plan ahead for extra securing to wall.

I use this shelf liner for a basement wire type storage shelf. I set cans and bottles on the shelf, over the liner. It work well. It adds stability to the items that set on it. It is semi-transparent so that it lets available light through.

It is a great low cost shelf liner for wire shelves. It saved me significant amounts of money & time over purchasing and custom cutting shelve tops for the wires.

It would be helpful if it were a little heavier duty but it does the job.

I user to have a carpeted floor but then, I had an old, small bookcase that was looking to fall to bits. I kept things like Q-tips and medicines on it, but things kept falling off when the medical aides moved it to let me get in and out of bed. Then we changed to a wooden floor for my room, and I was worried that the bookcase would scratch the new floor.

Given that this cart has shelves twice as deep as my bookcase, it seemed like a no-brainer. I could now keep my current books next to my bed, rather than having the aide bring me a couple each night. Also, the tires appeared to be made of a thick rubber, unlike the over-bed trays that had plastic wheels that kept on getting locked.

When it came, my wife assembled it in 20 minutes, without drama. It was everything we'd hoped for, easy to move and a rigid frame. It rolled well over the floor, and the contents of the shelves didn't look like they'd fall out.

After having this for more than a week, I can recommend it. Yes, it's twice the price of the cheapest over-bed trays, but the whole thing seems much sturdier. And of course having a large chrome cart makes my room look better.

The only I wish it came with would be some plastic shelves with a small lip. So far, we've had no problems with anything falling through the mesh shelves, but it could happen, and we don't keep pens or other small things on it.

However, it's made the aides and my life considerably easier. From what I've seen of similar products in hospitals, this is up to that standard. And of course, you don't need it just for healthcare. Anywhere you need mobile storage, this will do the trick.

Be warned, the natural lacquer color option looks unfinished not the warm honey/pine color as pictured. Check out Little Colorado's website for better color chart. We had to return or order twice to Accent Furniture. On the 3rd try, we requested the next color up called Honey Oak. We'll see if this works out.
