This product was very easy to put together. It is a little smaller than you think. My kids bookbags can hang from the hooks and touch the bottom of the shelf. Their light weight jackets fit fine. We have it on top of a bench in our laundry room and it has helped tame our clutter.

My house was built in the 20s, so there is very limited closet space and the places you can put shelves are awkwardly small. I thought this sort of shelf would be perfect in my bathroom if only a couple of inches too wide to let the door open all the way. When the time came to buy one, I was astounded at the price of them! Amazon has a few that are cheaper, but they catch you with $30 shipping costs. This particular shelf is eligible for Prime which I love to use. I'd searched and searched for one of a comparable price, but hadn't found anything else that didn't gut me on shipping or wasn't entirely too large. So, I broke down and bought this shelf last week.

The shelf got here in record time (way to go UPS and Amazon!), and I really excited to get it put together and start organizing my new home. I pulled the shelf out of the box and it was remarkably dirty. I mean, every piece of this shelving unit was covered in saw dust and silty dirt. I pull out all the screws, the directions, and start dusting off all the pieces. The color is dark espresso supposedly, but I'd err on the side of caution and say that this is more black than anything else. In espresso, you can still see the brown. This is black until direct natural light hits it and then you can see the reddish undertones. Fortunately, this works in my bathroom, but for those of you looking for more brown than black, go elsewhere.

Anyhow, so I start checking out all the pieces. It is fairly self-explanatory on how to put the whole thing together, but I notice that the edges are very rough/sharp. The wood is fairly cheap and dry, so I can see how it may not hold up well in humidity or be the best bet for a child's bedroom. There are scratches on it straight out of the box that are noticable since the stain is so dark. So, to Lowe's I will go for a stain pen to fix the scratches.

There are a few positives to this particular shelf. Most of the holes on the shelf match up some better than others but for the most part the ease of putting it togeter is good. You will need a rubber mallet or a hammer to get the wooden pegs in the holes for the bottom shelf, but this isn't a big deal. All the pieces were included in the correct number, they include the necessary tool in case you don't have your own set of allen wrenches, and, while I had a little difficulty at the beginning, it was relatively easy to put together with only one person.

Frankly, I normally would have returned this piece, but I cannot wait for shelving in my home any longer and I've been searching for ages so I realize this is about as good as it's going to get for the price. I'd have let a lot more of this stuff slide if it had been a $40-$50 shelf instead of a $70 shelf. I expect a little more for $70. Would I order from this company again? No, given that their prices stay the same.

Well i read plenty of reviews that said this shelf came with problems and i thought "not me!" I'll get a good one! HA Ha Ha Ha!! From the start the packaging was partly open then came inspection. Part of one of the shelves was scratched pretty badly. Thought i'd just put the scratch toward the back (forgot and its in the front, shouldn't have been my problem). Putting it together was ridiculous! The screws were way to big for the holes and they didn't line up correctly. One of the shelves split, there is a piece that goes on the shelf that i thought was for the front to finish it off but it is the back but it was in NO way straight. I kept thinking, "why do i keep putting this together, why not send it back?" I wish i would have but i have come to believe this is what this company wants. They know its easier to just put it together than get it partly together, undo it, put it back in the box, take it to UPS and ship it back. There fore they do not care about the crappy work they do on their product. Sad really. I was so excited about the shelf. Next time i will go some where else.

Not good....I have bought several 'flat pack' items, many of far east country origin, this shelf unit is bar far the worst. Shipping boxes thin and will likely have damage on receipt (both of mine had severed taping and torn cardboard, which led to chipping of contents. But worst was very poor finishing of wood prior to stain being applied ,appears as though nothing was sanded or cleaned before finish was applied....rough to the touch and inconsistant color, would have been better just going to B*g L**s. Had to saw a piece in each box to fit (the strengthener under the bottom shelf). If boxes were intact enough I would return product. I would not put much weight on it as shelves only thin.

Too bad! Nice product for the money if you don't mind doing the job for the company you paid to deliver. The manufacturer seems not to have quality control. One of the shelves had no holes whatsoever. Four drilled holes in each shelf are essential in the assembly of this product. It was either take the time and expense to return the product, drill the holes myself, or use the faulty shelf and take a chance on the shelf eventually falling. My time is too valuable to do the job for a company I've paid for their product. In business as in life, you have one chance to make a first impression. My advice to the buyer, be prepared for frustration Winsome doesn't check components before shipping and leaves the quality control to the customer. Too bad for the customer!

Where in the world did these come from? They were actually impossible to put together, holes were way to small on a few holes and way to big on others nothing matched up. I actually had to hire someone to fix the holes!! I would have sent them back but shipping would have cost more than to try to have them fixed (by the way, they cracked upon fixing beause they were poorly poorly made! NO WAY! don't waste your time!

Value: Except for what I've stated below, it's worth the price if you have a lot of what it takes to fill this storage tower. I bought it with personal library expansion in mind.

Expectations: Except for what I've stated below, It holds everything I own. Well for now anyway. :)

Features: The instructions were easy to read and follow. Although, not much of an issue for myself, some of the pictures could have been a bit larger.

At 6'4" in height this thing is a beast. If you're height challenged you might need a ladder for this storage tower. Tower indeed.

Appearance: While it is just particle board, this media storage tower looks very nice. I'd expect you'd probably pay around $800-$1000 for solid wood. I bought the black finish and it looks great except for what I've stated below.

Overall rating: 4.25

The only complaint I have is the lack of thickness of the shelves.

I had expected for the price I paid that the shelves would not be so flimsy. They're only 1/4" H x 1' 11.25" W. Very flexible. Not good for holding the weight of what is intended.

While the unit does have center supports, which are located on the backboard, the shelves still sag a bit when filled.

This fact, in my opinion, detracts from the appearance slightly.

If this had 1/2" shelves I would rate this 5.0 in every category.

Also, the instructions as pictured told me to install the backboards with the red and blue color markings up towards the top of the tower. In fact the markings needed to be down as I ran into problems with the support pegs being out of line. Maybe just a factory error but check for this problem before you put all your shelves in. ;)

Synopsis:

The assembled storage tower looks great and none of the pieces were chipped, marred or broken upon inspection. The packaging was sufficient and arrived without damage. It is quite heavy as it is all in one box. I was able to carry it myself up a flight of stairs but I recommend help. The instructions were very easy to follow. Mostly pictures. If I didn't know English I still could have put this together.

When put together the unit is very sturdy and the supplied fabric-strip wall supports for earthquake prone territories were a big plus.

I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend with the above statement.

Our Spartak book(Media) case arrived as a 6' long box weighing about 130 lb. Inside was a complete kit including an instruction book that guided us well until we realized that the vertical supporting boards were missing the drilled holes needed to receive the front vertical covering pieces. We called Spartak and were answered by a slightly skeptical human. So we examined the situation carefully and called Spartak again and got the same man. This time he asked if we could send him photos of the boards and our email address. We did. We received a very polite and apologetic email offering to send us replacement boards. He said he had never seen this problem before. Their computerized system usually works or tells them of problems.

We had done a lot of work to install our boards before we noticed the problem, so we wanted to try to drill the holes ourselves. We did and finished the bookcase ourselves. The whole job took us about a day and a half.

The bookcase is inexpensive, made of particle board and masonite, but the pieces fit and the hardware is sturdy, so the final case seems solid enough. It is sold as storage for CDs and DVDs and video tapes, so the shelves are shallow. It holds my paperback books very well.

I would recommend these bookcases to people I think could build them. I will probably buy another smaller one.

I saw a lot of negative reviews on this tower. It took me some time on purchasing it because i kept going back and forth on wither to buy it. Finally i said what the hell and bought it! I am so happy I did. I bought the walnut finish and it looks great. I have no problem with sagging in the shelves. The one thing i would say is take your time putting it together and to have at least two people putting it together. We had four and it went really fast. My son who is 9 helped me. Then towards the end I had my husband and his friend help me and my son lift it to put the back on since in till you have the back on its not to strong. Also read the instructions first before putting it together. A lot of people said they have sagging shelves.It wont happen if you use the supports they give you. You use the 6 support shelf brackets two in the back and two on each side then after that you use the round locking circles on the back two corners and VOILA` no sagging simply :)

I have a large CD collection and when I found this rack, I thought my problems were solved. The biggest problem with this rack is the quality of the materials. On other CD racks I own, the shelves are made of a 1/2" 5/8" MDF or solid wood. The shelves on this rack are 1/4" thick. The span of these shelves is comparable to my other racks, which do not require any support other than either end. This rack, however, requires supports on both ends, the center and they have these other discs to keep the shelf from 'sagging.' The shelf wouldn't sag if it was made from a thick enough piece of material. The worst part is, when I have been adding CDs to the rack, if I just slightly bump one of the center supports, both of them fly out, then the shelf immediately sags. I have had to physically glue in center supports to keep them in place. Very disappointing. Also, to actually use the entire length of the shelf, you have to tuck CDs behind the front trim pieces on either end of the shelf, so you can't have a full shelf and just easily slide out any CD. The thing is...it's too big to even repackage or return. I bought this through Stacks and Stacks and they were super about getting it out quickly and they have the best price I have seen online. Otherwise, the rack is nice looking. The cherry color that I bought is a medium shade of cherry, not a red cherry color, but still very nice. If you have a large collection, save your money and have a cabinet maker build you a custom shelf. You'll be happier in the long run.. I wish I had.

The shelves have little grommets to help prevent sagging but they do not do the job completely. I like the look of the unit and perhaps I'll be able to rig a shelf support system myself.

Abbey Oak Five Shelf Bookcase

This is pretty much what I expected. Mine looks slightly darker than the picture, but not bad. It took about an hour or so to put it together and that was without rushing. The directions were pretty good, but I was familiar with this kind of set-up already so I just needed to glance at them. The shelves are nice and wide which is what I wanted. It's fairly sturdy. No sag in the shelves. It does have a cardboard backing which I wasn't sure of when I ordered it. The wood seems like particle board or some kind of processed wood material with a wood veneer over it. It's fairly movable when put together. It's not too heavy. Overall I'd say it's a good value. It looks very nice and functions well. The good thing about it is that the shipping package is rather small. I was trying to get a bookcase for some time but wherever I went, the box was too large for my car or, if I wanted to have it shipped, I'd have to be there when it was delivered. I ordered this through Amazon and FedEx left it at my apartment. If you are purchasing it from a store, the box is short enough to fit in most cars. I gave it four stars because the picture makes it look like it might be a heavier item made of plywood or something. The description was a bit hazy as well regarding the backing material. But again, it's not bad. I'd buy another one if I needed it.

These book cases are great. They are very heavy and very sturdy. I bought two of them. The first one took about 2 hours to assemble, but the second one only about 30 minutes since I knew what to do. They look and feel like solid oak. No warping or bending of these shelves under heavy loads. They are rock solid and support a ton of weight. I am very pleased with them overall. They look like something you'd pay a lot more money for.

I am extremely happy with my shelf. I took my time when putting it together, so it took me a few hours. I love the Abbey Oak color, perfect for the formal office. I was very pleased with the design, the front of the shelf wall and shelves have end pieced of wood, which helps with extra support and stability. Easy to follow instructions and I put it together myself while my hubby was at work. Really nice color. Seems very sturdy and looks really nice in my son's room. It's already packed with books. I had shopped the local big box stores for cabinets for a 70" section of wall, at a 16" depth. Couldn't find anything that matched my needs. I took a big chance buying something so heavy via mail order, but I'm very happy that I bought the Prepac cabinets from Amazon. I purchased two tall cabinets and two shorts for above. I installed the cabinets without the doors, leveled and squared the 4 together, then attached the doors. All turned out great, and they look great. I'm very pleased with the nickel finish handle/pulls, they have a classy look. I had a screw that wouldn't seat properly in one of the handles, but I'm not sure if I stripped the threads myself or if the handle was defective. I phoned customer service, and they were VERY responsive to helping replace the part for free. I was also pleased that the cabinets were made in North America (Vancouver), rather than coming in from China on a freighter, which of course is just a personal preference. The cabinets are great, and are of better quality than the similar ones at the big box stores. They were packed very well to prevent damage, and they all arrived via UPS with no damage. Very happy customer.

I like this cabinet. I've been in the market for a unit like this to go in the laundry room. Shelves are adequate. I would like to see one or two more shelves included but it works as is. Good finish for the price. Assembly took about 30 minutes or so. I would recommend this unit.

I absolutely love this cabinet. We were looking for a pantry type deal for our kitchen. We needed it to be deep enough for cereal boxes and sturdy enough that the "can" shelf wouldn't start to bow in the middle as our previous cabinet did. This cabinet is perfect! It was easy to assemble. My only warning is that it had some slight damage during shipping. Fortunately, (especially since we didn't notice it until after my husband had put it together) it was in a place that no one can see.

I recently got a 46 lcd tv and needed a stand that was both strong and had a high utility value.

The major + for the stand is

1. It has space for 5 boxes (as in DVR, DVD Player, Gaming Console, Home Theater Receiver) and 4 of these are covered by glass preventing build up of dust and also allowing remote access.

2. Its pretty solid and can with stand a good heavy TV.

3. It has a draw to store extra cables and CD/DVDs and that clutter is not visible on the outside.

4. Easy to assemble. Dont need any fancy tools.

The negatives.

1. The whole thing is very heavy. Close to 100 lbs. So moving the package around and unpacking can be quite a task. Make sure you assemble this quite close to where you want it placed.

2. It takes about 3-4 hours to put it together.

Overall this is a very high quality piece of furniture. Heavy, solid weight; more than capable of supporting my 60-inch plasma TV.

Before purchasing, I read the other reviews which said this was a nightmare to assemble. I'm not sure what those people were talking about. I put it together by myself in about 90 minutes and didn't have any problems. The instructions were not quite up to Ikea-esque standards, but overall they were very understandable. Anyone who needs 4+ hours to put this together must have some serious learning disability.

I am deducting one star for the following reason: The design of the back panel is poor, because it allow little to no ventilization to the shelves that hold the A/V equipment. A sealed design like this will trap in heat and absolutely fry any device that has a hard drive, such as a TiVo or Playstation 3, or an amplifier. My PS3 started overheating within the first hour and I had to remove the back panel from the cabinet to allow proper ventilation. Removing the panel leaves the wires in the back visible and detracts somewhat from the aesthetic appeal of the shelf. If you use the shelves for your A/V equipment, I storngly recommend taking off the back panel, or you will cook your expensive equipment.

Very well constructed piece of furniture. The materials are high quality and it looks great when put together. It took a little over an hour to put together and that's mainly due to the lack of labeling on the parts of the unit. The instructions were very Ikea-esque and sometimes it made it difficult to know which panel they were referring. You had to be careful to make sure you knew which part of the unit you were constructing so you could place the pieces accordingly so you didn't have the particle wood showing. There is a back for the unit, but there are no cutouts for cords so we just left it off since it was going to be against a wall. The wood is extremely good looking wood and the color is great. We got this unit because we needed a unit short enough that we could place our center speaker on and not block the TV. The height on this was absolutely perfect. The box is very heavy, as the pieces inside are very high quality, so you might need an extra hand to help you get the box moved. Once put together, the unit isn't all that heavy, but you will definitely need two people to move it around. Overall, great product, a little iffy on the instructions, but take your time and in no time, you will have a great looking entertainment center.

Unit was quite heavy and took about 2 hours to assemble. I suggest taking the time to lay out all the pieces first and then assembling. I left the back off to allow airflow since there are no holes in it but you can't see it anyway. Overall a pretty solid, nice product. Very Ikea-ish in its assembly. I was looking for something good but not willing to pay big $$$ and found it. Obviously its not a super expensive piece of furniture but it does not look cheap either. 4 of 5 stars :)

I looked around at many different stores and websites for a good TV stand for a good price. I decided to buy this one. It is a great TV stand. It is sturdy and has plenty of space for the cable box, blu-ray player, movies, game systems, and etcetera.

Putting it together took me a couple of hours mainly because I accidentally did something incorrectly and had to backtrack a little bit. The instructions weren't the greatest, but not too bad. Before I purchased this stand, I saw a review about it being very difficult, but I really didn't think it was when I put it together. It is pretty normal for it to take a while to put together a good do-it-yourself TV stand. If you aren't up for the task of spending some time putting together a TV stand, then you are looking in the wrong place and should go to a furniture store.

I bought this stand for $250. For that price, I am perfectly fine with the material it is made of (I think it is particle board). It is still very sturdy and looks great. There are much worse TV stands with the same material that cost more.

Do not buy this TV stand if you have (or plan to buy) a TV that is larger than 60". I know the description says 48" to 68", but the box said 48" to 60". The stand wouldn't even be wide enough for anything larger anyway. I think a 60" TV is pushing it. It may have been a typo though. I didn't mind because I was buying this for a 50" TV.

My biggest gripe is that the glass doors sometimes pop back open when I try to close them. Sometimes I don't notice and I almost broke one of them. It's not that big of a deal though because if I do lose the glass doors, the TV stand would still look great.
