The other reviewer gave this product one star because it costs more than buying direct from an iKea store. However, try buying it online from iKea and see the outrageous shipping costs. Buying from an online merchant costs a lot less than having it shipped from ikea. Personally, I am very happy someone has figured out a way to save me money while making a little for their trouble,

The ikea exedit shelving units are my favorite. I love the cubed look and the dark wood. It Is extremely functional for my needs and it is the reason it was worth the extra money to have it shipped here. Even with that extra cost, I find it cheaper than some of the local alternatives that I do not like nearly as much.

Putting it together takes a bit of time, but the effort is worth it.

It's annoying that when people are upset with the price of something, they give the actual product a lower review...

That being said, I happen to live close to an Ikea store and bought this there yesterday. Obviously, it was significantly cheaper than the price listed here, but this package was EXTREMELY heavy. Both amazon and Ikea have to charge a hefty fee for shipping these because of how heavy and huge they are to ship.

When we got the unit home, it took my husband about 40 minutes to put it together. The instructions are easy and the only difficult part about putting it together is that it uses lots of dowels instead of screws, so you have to line up everything exactly and use a little upper body strength to muscle the pieces together.

This shelf looks fantastic in our living room. I am so pleased with the purchase. I considered some cheaper units at big box stores, but I'm so glad I went with this one. The others were so thin and flimsy looking and had visible screws along the top. The Expedit unit looks so nice as a piece of furniture, and is substantial and not flimsy at all. We bought the black-brown color and placed it horizontally. We also bought 4 of the collapsible baskets that fit perfectly in the cubbies for my kid's toys and clutter. You would never know they use that area of the living room as a play room. When we clean up at the end of the day, no more toy clutter and our living room looks beautiful again! I'm sure once the kids are older, we can continue to use the shelf to display books and knick knacks. And I love that you can use it horizontally or vertically, too.

This shelf is great, very versatile, and looks very nice. I would recommend it to anyone looking for this cubby-type of storage. Obviously, it will be much cheaper for you if you can buy it from an Ikea store. But if you can't, it's still a great buy and much cheaper than other similar storage sold from high-end stores.

We bought this shelving unit after looking at several similar products at Lowes, Target and Walmart. What this unit has that others do not is a thicker outside frame that give it a more modern feel. It also looks more solid and expensive than other similar units. We have one 8-cube shelf with a few books and storage baskets in our living room, two more in my office that hold my professional literature, and we're about to buy another to go under a mounted flat-screen t.v.non our bedroom. I highly recommend this unit for its clean lines, functionality in terms of storage and modern style. Fabulous!

Great bookcase, it just what we were looking for. The problem was that it didn't come with dowels or screws. Having to go out and find and buy the hardware for this made it not worth it but returning it didn't really seem like a good option either, with having to repack all the boards. Waiting for them to send the hardware kit meant dealing with a bookcase kit on the floor in the middle of the living room. It was a total pain.

Easy to put together and very durable, bright colors go with boys or girls (we have 2 yr olds, one of each) and holds more books than you'd think. Open top shelf allows for those tall kids books that do not seem to fit in other shelves. definitely worth the money. Shelves good height for toddlers and preschoolers. Rounded edges minimize head-bonking potential. Slightly angled downward to the back of the shelf to keep books from falling out.

I just bought this for my 2 year old. I was concerned because of the smell that some reported on their reviews, however the smell is brief, i.e. it was gone before I finished putting the bookcase together and didn't linger. The bookcase is very solid (excellent quality) and very cute. The shelves are not high enough for books like "Look and Find", unless you use the top shelf of course. There is a lot of screwing during the assembly so, a power screwdriver might be helpful. I put it together alone, but it would be slightly easier with an additional set of hands. Also, I didn't notice anyone mentioning this in other reviews, but you can add on to this bookcase by buying an additional one and stacking to save space. If you decided to do this, remember you will need to find a way to harness the bookcase to the wall to avoid tipping. Just an idea.

He had a taller shelf before that and I always worried that he would knock it over, but I have no such worries with this one. I have limited space for spices. I bought this so that I could easily see what I had and get to it. It does make it EASIER but you won't be able to read the label. I have to tell by color of the top, and mental notes of where each spice should be (alphabetical by herb or sweet, etc on different rows) What annoys me is trying to get the spice jar out and knocking the bottles below out of the cabinet. Still better than nothing but if you have room, get a revolving rack or one that goes in the drawer.

This was purchased via Amazon prime. Got it in a day. Took 1 1/2 hours to assemble. I wish i had someone to help out. It would have been a lot faster. Looked neat and is sturdy to hold my 47 LG TV and all my AV components. Tricky doors like previous reviews commented. Definitely not your 300+ $ TV stands. As you build it, you will notice its materials are worth what you paid for, particle board and some thin laminates. But a neat and clean look for a budget conscious customer like me. I must say the design was good and construction manual was great. 10 clear cut steps and you are done. You will need a Philips type screw driver. All other hardware is supplied. Can't beat 4$ Amazon prime overnight shipping. Faster and easier than picking up something from 30 mile away Ikea. :)

This is the perfect size and shape for my needs: to hold cable box, dvd player on top wide shelf, printer for wireless printing on very bottom shelf, and a bunch of DVDs tucked inside the cabinets and on the middle shelf. The one thing is that the holes drilled on one side of the cabinet for the hinges did not quite line up properly (were too far from the edge) which affects how you open the door. The other side opens perfectly, so I just put the good DVDs in that one.

This table is definitely worth more than its price. Pretty decent, made up from a very strong material. It tool me only 45 60 min to assemble. I think I specially want to mention is my TV is 60'' and this TV even it says is for less size TV, it looks very good on mine (if you wan to save money). A inch edge coming out of table but that is not a problem for me. Definitely recommend it.

I am pleased with this product. It looks like a much more expensive piece than it is. The only complaint is that the right door rubs when shut. Also, the particle wood is not going to hold up for the long haul. Some of the hardware was improperly labeled but I was able to correct it with a bit of rework. Bottom line is that you can't beat this piece for the price, looks great and is very sturdy.

this stand is about 21" tall and about 46" long it looks very nice in my living room.

it was really easy to assemble it, and it has a really great color..

when it comes to align the doors or make them look straight is kind of tricky but just just have to use your screwdriver and tight it or loose it , whatever your need is, and make sure both doors are aligned the same way.

if the doors are not aligned, when u close them it'll look like the doors are falling, so make sure you do it right and straight.

This is self-assemble furniture at its worst. The shelves are incredibly flimsy and do not withstand the weight of CDs. The shelves sagged immediately upon loading. The shelves are also so unstable that I can nearly topple the entire contents with one finger. The decorative front slats are attached with three dowels and school glue, too, which means I expect them to pop off at any moment. I own other pieces of cheap furniture, from IKEA etc, and this is far less stable. I don't imagine being able to move this to another room in my house without it falling apart much less to my next home or apartment. At $250, save your money.

This CD storage rack will hold one's HUGE CD/DVD collection, and in most cases, with room to spare. Though pricey, the unit is likely more than sufficient to allow storage of most everything in your collection, and avoid you having to spend about the same amount of money for extra smaller storage racks as your collection grows. The assembly instructions are on the sparse side, so some previous experience in putting together such units will be helpful.

When I assembled my unit, I deviated a bit at a couple of places in the instructions to assure that the unit would be sturdily put together and stable, once fully loaded with CDs. Here is what I did:

1) When I glued the three front molding strips onto the front of the unit, the instructions advise you to use only small drops of the "school glue" provided, on the wood dowel pegs. That raised a red flag for me and told me that use of that particular glue would be inadequate, too sparse, and not provide a strong bond with the three vertical shelf support units, thus most probably causing the unit to eventually come apart under load stress. Instead, if you have access to a set of furniture/cabinet glue clamps, use those, plus a good strong bonding glue, such as "Gorilla" glue to bond and clamp the three molding strips to the three vertical shelf support units, following the instructions for the glue you use. Apply glue not only on the wood dowel pegs; apply glue also on the front face of the vertical shelf supports as well. Thus, you can be assured of a sturdy bond and improbability of the unit coming apart.

2) The rack comes with what the manufacturer calls an "Anti-toppling" device, intended for installation on the unit if the user lives in an earthquake zone. This consists of two woven nylon ribbon straps and screw hardware to fasten to the unit and against the wall where the unit will be located. I strongly advise installation of this particular hardware, even if you don't live in an earthquake zone it will assure that the unit will not topple in any other situations, especially where small children are involved. If you install this hardware, make sure that it is installed on the unit EXACTLY where 2 x 4 wall studs behind a sheet rock wall are located. In my case, instead of using the hardware provided, I drilled small holes at appropriate locations on the back of the top at the exact locations where the unit would be positioned at 2 x 4 wall studs and used medium-sized screw eyelets at those positions on the unit as well as on the wall. I then installed a couple of heavy-duty nylon securing straps (both the eyelets and nylon straps can be had at a hardware store) through the installed wall/rack eyelets to hold the unit safely in place.

For the practicality of the unit, I would give it five stars, but in the case of the assembly of the unit where I deviated in the locations I describe, I reduce it to four stars.

I spent time looking for a stand that matched the width of my 59" Samsung and this fit the bill at 54" wide(verified this myself top edge to edge).

It's all solid wood. There were a few tweaks I did to get things dead on.

The doors were a touch off so I put a few layers of tape under one hinge to align the doors better.

I used Titebond II wood glue on all screws and pegs.

I was installing the screws using a drill with a clutch on it's next to tightest setting and they'd keep turning once the screw was fully. Didn't seem like they should strip like this, so I put two halfs of a round toothpick in each hole (old woodworking trick) and some glue on the screws and they went in very solid.

My AV gear was 15" deep(not including the protruding speaker connectors off the back) and the AV openings are 15 1/2" deep from the front bottom edge to the back wall inside the AV opening. I ended up cutting a square hole in the back just large enough(~1/2" all around for wiggle room) for my receiver and HTPC to poke out the back a few inches which worked nicely.

I did like that the AV opening is 21" wide so there's room for air circulation around your gear.

I took a star off as I felt the screws were a little narrow and didn't get the purchase they should when screwed in and the door hinges needed some truing with shims behind the hinges.

Though, that being said, I'd buy another if needed in a second if it's the width I required. It's a great looking stand for the price.

We ordered this product because the price was good and it says it's made of solid wood. The first day the product arrived, we opened the package to find the front completely damaged. Amazon was awesome and had UPS pick it up and sent a new one out the next day. The second package we got also had damage, but we can fix it with wool glue but the package came without directions. So we're having a fun time putting it together. The product itself is made of nice wood, but the construction seems sort of shotty...I guess you get what you pay for. The product and shipping of this made it a hassle, but Amazon customer service has been super helpful so it's made this process easier to deal with.

This was a very nice cabinet i was impressed when I started putting it together. The finish is thick and takes quite a bit of sanding to get through for bonding. The cabinet went together smoothly until I got to the doors which have pre drilled holes for the hinges. The hinge holes didnt line up and I had to clamp the doors in place and drill all new holes for the hinges. After doing this the cabinets turned out nicley and I am very happy with them.

Under Shelf Wrap Rack in WHITE model 1983W from Organize It All

Buying these types of things can be problematical. One can't know how they will work until they're tried out in one's own work space. Things to consider are height and width of your open shelf areas. This wrap holder can get in the way of accessing things on the shelf below. In addition the hooks sit on the shelf above and can interfere with what you put on that shelf. So keep this in mind. The holder works okay overall. I got two and could only fit one into my main pantry. If I'd had the space, better solutions would be: a larger vertical unit installed on the inside of a cupboard or pantry door or a full depth wire drawer screwed on underneath a shelf.

I ordered two of these racks and they are fine...just be sure to measure the shelf before you order. I had measured the depth of the shelf and thought I was all good. I neglected to measure the actual thickness of the shelf and found that my shelf was too thick for the rack to fit around.

Other than my error in measuring, the racks are OK. I got them to fit in another cabinet and can put very VERY lightweight things in them. The bars that hold the rack to the shelf are quite bendable, so putting something heavier than two or maybe three rolls of aluminum foil/plastic wrap may be pushing it.

Overall, I wouldn't order these again, but I'm far too lazy to send them back, so I'll try to use them for light duty :) If I had to do it over, I would have probably ordered something else.

I was torn between these racks and the type that you mount on a door or wall and eventually settled on these which was a TERRIBLE mistake. When we received them they were twisted and the arms on one of them weren't even the same height resulting in a wobbly mess when we put them on the shelves in our pantry. The wire they are made of is thin and cheap and the product in general is very poorly made. I will definitely be returning both of them.

This is a rather simple storage unit that readily fit on our pantry shelf. The support prongs are long enough that I imagine it would readily work with most thicknesses of shelves. The unit performed as advertised. It is solid and won't bend when loaded. I was impressed that it didn't "move around" when items are taken from it. The only downside is that it is rather small for the intended purpose one can only expect to store 3 or 4 rolls of Saran wrap, foil, etc. I think most folks would prefer this unit to be about 4 inches wider. Would I buy it again yes.

These heavy little guys are a solid addition to my 5-shelf Salamander Archetype rack. They stabilize & isolate the rack sufficiently to support my Clearaudio Concept turntable on the top shelf, without any vibration-borne effects. Just be careful they are sharp! and you might want to protect wood floors with a brass or steel coaster / disc. My rack holds about 150 lbs of components, and the points will create deep divots in the floor if they do not set on a coaster or disc. This all being said a great addition to a solid-performing rack.

Ok these floor spike are in my opinion over priced but they are a physically pretty large, heavy and completely solid feeling. I found I had to put quarters under the spikes because I feared major floor damage which most certainly would have happened (this is not uncommon with any manufacturers floor spikes). The floor spikes make a good solid contact with the floor and did help reduce some vibrations that were effecting my stand.

I would have given five stars but I think for 5 stars they shouldn't do floor damage so I gave them 4. Would I buy them again, yes but its only a subtile difference in sound quality.

These spikes are built SOLID! They do a very nice job of keeping my Archetype put. They are quite sharp regardless of their girth and do dig into the carpet to keep the shelf from moving. What else can I say, they're spikes!

OXO Good Grips Lift and Lock Pole Caddy

This is a phenomenal product. I'd give it ten stars if I could, and while it's certainly expensive, the price is more than matched by the quality. I was a bit reluctant to shell out the money for it, especially given there were no reviews here, but I'm very glad I did. I've had a different tension-pole shower caddy for several years, and it was amateur-hour compared to Good Grips' offering. The old pole was flimsy and bowed slightly in the middle from the tension. The shelves were held in place by plastic sleeves that used friction to keep them in place. The joints in the poles were covered with metallic tape, and the ends were capped with rubber stops that were so flimsy the pole actually cut through them. In addition to all that, the shelves were very shallow, and items placed on them frequently fell off with the slightest bump or knock.

The Good Grips caddy, however, is night and day different. The pole is really sturdy #no bowing#, and is joined with heavy-duty plastic screw ends. In addition, there are several pieces to the pole, so you can adjust it to fit various heights. I've now moved it to a part of the shower where I wasn't able to put the old caddy -which is a huge space-saver in my situation.

The locking mechanism for the shelves is brilliant. Whoever designed it should get a raise. Shelves are easy to adjust, but are also sturdy and very secure when locked in place. They're also quite deep, and the idea of having holes for putting bottles in upside down is genius. I haven't had any trouble with items falling off, either. Oh, and I really like the fact that I can remove the plastic trays from the metal frames to clean them. That's a nice touch.

Finally, the ratcheting mechanism the caddy uses to create tension is very easy to use and adjust, and creates a very secure lock. Also, the end caps are made of heavy-duty rubber, and are shaped to take advantage of corners.

I couldn't be more pleased with the caddy. I never write reviews, but this was just such a great product that I felt compelled to share. It's got so many intelligent design features, and it's easy to install, easy to move, and easy to clean. I can't think of a single negative thing about it, and I also can't think of anything else I wish it had. Seriously, the designers of this product should get an award! I wish all products were as intelligently designed and as well made as this one.

The shower caddies I got in the past all went rusty pretty quickly. I chose the OXO this time hoping that it's rust proof as it is claimed. It's three times more expensive. Unfortunately it did not deliver on the expectation. Two months after the purchase, I've already found multiple spots of rust. I'm planning on calling their customer service.

I'll admit it: I definitely balked a bit at the price when I first saw this. But after some hand-wringing, I decided to give it a shot because this tension pole caddy looked a million times better than those nasty plastic or chrome-plated ones, and OXO products have always treated me very well. I have to let people know that this is an AMAZING product.

PROS: Extremely easy to install, looks beautiful, and the amount of shelving is incredible. They are generously deep and very level (I made sure the tension pole was plumb using a small level); no shampoo bottles falling over when I put something down. And there are ample drainage holes on each. I actually only have 3 of them up because I don't have enough bath products at the moment! This past weekend was bathroom-cleaning time, and those shelves come off easily to wash if you wanted to, which I did.

CONS: None. It's too soon to comment on it's ability to not rust, but I'll try to remember to update on that after a few more months have gone by.

If you want a tension pole caddy, and this one looks perfect but seems a little too pricey, I recommend going for it. I probably shouldn't have, price-wise, but it's already proven to be well worth it.

UPDATE -September 15, 2010, one year later

Still the best product. Continues to look and clean well, doesn't look a year old, and no rust whatsoever. Again, best $100 spent.

Seeing the overwhelmingly positive reviews on this item, I purchased it hoping it will last at least a couple of years. Instead, after less than 60 days in service, rust is already starting to show at the welded joints on the buckets frame. Sure, it had sporadic exposure to water drops, but it's a shower pole after all.

I am exceptionally disappointed in this item, given its price. I would give it 0 stars if possible.

Installed this product 10 min ago. For $130 I would expect this item to be much more sturdy. Once installed, the pole seems in place but is not secure. The threaded endcaps which attach the metal poles together pull out of the poles and make the entire rod bow once installed. All of the latches are made from plastic which is ok but the amount of force required to close them makes me suspect how long they will last. Also you must overextend the pole before installing and then push it into place as the latch only locks the poles placement and doesn't raise it.

If OXO wanted to improve here they should have utilized a jack-like method allowing the user to extend the pole once in place and not have to pound it into the corner.

The shelves are held on by friction from the rubber pads on the back of their clips which under enough weight or with an upward force come loose and slide down. All in all I will be returning this product and purchasing the Simple Human shower caddy. I'll provide a review on that one once I get it.

Extremely disappointed in OXO quality.

So I decided I would keep it for a little while and test it out further. However I was only more disappointed. The racks began to rest only after 2 weeks of being installed in my shower. I've since taken it back and purchased the SimpleHuman one and like that one a lot better, I'll have a review on that one shortly.
