Our nursery is small and limited in space so we decided to purchase this dresser/changer because it was a perfect fit. It came very well packaged and with no damage. My husband took our son out & I stayed behind to put the dresser together. I was 7 months pregnant with twins at that point. It took me, all by myself, a total of 3 hours to put together. I spent a long time trying to figure out how the drawer glides needed to be installed in order to work correctly. The directions were not clear in that aspect hence the loss of a star in my rating. The dresser itself is solid wood except for the drawer sides, back, and bottom. Put together correctly, the drawers are solid and can be filled with clothing, bedding, etc. without any compromise to the structure. I am very happy with this purchase and I recommend it to anyone who needs to furnish a tight space. Just pay close attention to the drawer glides before you attach them to the furniture.

Louis Philippe Open Bookcase

I received the bookcase well wrapped and within the estimated time. Putting this case together is somewhat complicated. The back of the cabinet is 2 large pieces of "wood" that is taped together. In the assembly process you have to attach two pieces together with tape. The tape comes with all of the parts. We put this on three separate times but the back keeps popping apart, which can be seen from the front. Even though the case itself is pretty and matches my other furniture perfectly, I wished I would have spent a little extra and bought a piece already assembled. For $500 this piece definitely isn't worth the hastle of having to pull the shelves from the wall and retaping over and over again.

I bought two, the quality is pretty good. It wasn't too bad to assemble did take about an hour or so. Sturdy and well-finished. We bought 2 bookcases to match our bedroom set. Shelves are adjustable.

At first I thought this was going to be a great piece for my bedroom. It was looking good until I put the back panel on. The back piece wasn't made wide enough, so when you screwed in the sides, it splintered the wood on the inside of the bookcase. No, I didn't screw them in crooked. In my opinion, if you're going to spend several hundred dollars on a bookcase, you may as well save yourself the aggravation and just pay the extra two hundred dollars and get it from a furniture store. Right now I'm wishing I had. If you do decide to buy this, then I suggest you run to your local hardware store and buy some tack nails, because you'll be needing them.

The cabinet is beautiful and matches my cherry desk that I had purchased 2 years ago from a store close to me. It is well worth the money. If I had known at the time of purchase the quality I was getting and how well it matches my existing desk I would have spent a little more money and bought the large one actually still thinking about getting it.

Easy to put together and very durable, bright colors go with boys or girls (we have 2 yr olds, one of each) and holds more books than you'd think. Open top shelf allows for those tall kids books that do not seem to fit in other shelves. definitely worth the money. Shelves good height for toddlers and preschoolers. Rounded edges minimize head-bonking potential. Slightly angled downward to the back of the shelf to keep books from falling out.

I just bought this for my 2 year old. I was concerned because of the smell that some reported on their reviews, however the smell is brief, i.e. it was gone before I finished putting the bookcase together and didn't linger. The bookcase is very solid (excellent quality) and very cute. The shelves are not high enough for books like "Look and Find", unless you use the top shelf of course. There is a lot of screwing during the assembly so, a power screwdriver might be helpful. I put it together alone, but it would be slightly easier with an additional set of hands. Also, I didn't notice anyone mentioning this in other reviews, but you can add on to this bookcase by buying an additional one and stacking to save space. If you decided to do this, remember you will need to find a way to harness the bookcase to the wall to avoid tipping. Just an idea.

He had a taller shelf before that and I always worried that he would knock it over, but I have no such worries with this one. We bought this shelf 2.5 years ago to hang above our daughter's changing table for things like lotions, sunscreens, etc, that were taking up too much space on the table. We're now expecting our second child, and I wanted another shelf to hang in his room since we're still using the shelf in my daughter's room even though we've moved the changing table to the baby's room. I bought one at Target for about the same price as this one, and it's not nearly as nice. It's unstable on the wall and I'm uncomfortable putting it above where my child will be laying. I actually cracked the shelf slightly trying to get it on the wall, and it's not nearly as thick as this shelf, which I think helps increase the stability. We will be attempting to return the new one to Target and are ordering another of the Knape and Vogt shelves because the quality is far superior. We did not have any problems with the paint, I can't remember what the wall anchors were like but we always have those on hand so I probably wouldn't have noticed if they were poor quality -would just have used my own.

Mine arrived in great condition. It looks great installed. Only gripe the drywall anchors that come with it do not have a lip on them. We lost one in the wall. Luckily we had our own supply of them and used our own anchors to install this beautiful shelf.

I ordered 2 shelves. Color is more cream than white and is not consistent, so I had to paint them. One shelf was chipped on both ends and so warped, you could never hang it. I called seller's customer service 2x and was forced to leave messages. No one called back. Then sent an email and received quick response. They shipped another shelf pretty quickly and told me to throw the damaged one away. I am happy with the shelves despite the hassle and painting needed.

These shelves are really well made and seemed so sturdy, but the finish is terrible. I bought two of these, and both of them had a blotchy, uneven coat of paint that looked yellow in some spots. It was bad enough that it almost looked like coffee had spilled on them. I would NOT buy these again. Luckily the return was easy enough.

We got two of the open shelf and three of the library. These looked great when put together, but there are some things you should consider:

1.) This is press board furniture, and it is cheap. It will warp in time, and is heavier than wood furniture.

2.) The veneer is paper, and it is fragile it scrapes off easily.

3.) The pieces don't fit together well, and some had to be sanded to fit. The connectors are plastic and fragile.

4.) The stability is based on the paper backing holding the unit together. We put L brackets in the top and bottom to stabilize it.

5.) You can only put 25 pounds on each shelf. That's not many books.

6.) The shipping is expensive, because it is so heavy.

7.) It takes time to put them together, but is easy. You need two people to do it.

8.) Check each piece carefully for cracks prior to assembly. We found several in the long pieces, and it wasn't until they were being assembled. Go directly to Sauder for replacement.

If you are looking for something to look impressive but not be a sturdy, long-lasting item buy this. As for the economy right now I don't see why we should buy expensive furniture so this is perfect.

I own this bookshelf and have had it for over ten years, so it has stood the test of time. The bookshlef is sturdy with one fixed shelf and two adjustable shelves. The bookshelveis heavy over 100 pounds, so it helps to have two people assemble, although I did it myself in jsut over two hours. The entire process of assembly is fairly easy, but does require attention to detail. The only tools one needs is a a screwdriver and a hammer. It looks beautiful when finished. As mentioned, I have had this bookshelf for over 10 years and it is still in great shape with no warping or sagging of the sides or shelves. The bookshelf can be attached to a wall stud with accompaning hardware if small children are in the home. This is a very good idea, as kids may try to climb the shelves and perhaps pull the entire bookshelf down atop themselves. The shelves can be adjusted to variable heights. I like this feature. The only part that is really cheap is the backing, which is heavy-duty veneered cardboard. I went to the hardware store and bought a piece of oak veneered plywood and nailed this on rather than the provided cardboard backing. This really firms up the bookshelf and adds strength.

The oak veneeer is durable and pleasing to look at, but it does not tolerate standing water, so don't put a beverage on the shelf without a cup protector. Likewise, a vacuum cleaner can easily dent or chip the veneer, so use with TLC.

Remember, this is an economy bookshelf. A true wood bookshelf would run many hundreds of dollars more. I think it is a great buy for those who do not need the "best" money can buy. This one is plenty good for me. I also have these two side models by Sauder: Orchard Hills 5-Shelf Library Bookcase Carolina Oak Sandwitched together in a triplet, they accomodate all my library of books.

I bought this from amazon and it took nearly 5 hours to put together which frustrated me. The instructions can fool you and you could easily put the parts together upside down or backwards if you don't pay real close attention. When I went to put the trim on the sides together I noteced a space between the shelves and trim. Pay close attention to the diagram and your unit will be fine. I called Sauder about this and they informed me that this was common with a lot of people and they walked me through the process of correcting it. Customer service was excellent and I had no problems at all. The bookcase came intact execpt for the backing which had a dent in it so I called Sauder and they easily replaced it for free. It's presswood and not real wood but it acttually holds up very well. I must admit that I really feel this is overpriced so if you have the time, wait for it to go on sale or surf the web for the best deal you can get, it's worth doing your homework when spending your hard earned dollars. Originally, it was 159. and dropped to 127. Now it's 114. Don't get me wrong, it's not a horrible peice of furniture but putting it together required plenty of patience and time. If you're not handy, have someone assist you with assembeling this bookcase. Also try to have a portable drill to fasten the screws together, it will make things easier for you rather than using a plain screwdriver. One last note, the shipping charge was high so I would reccomend buying this in a store if you can get it and save the extra cash for youself. That can be a deal-breaker when you buy online. The box it came in was very heavy so naturally shipping will be pricey. If you can get this at a real low price with minimal or free shipping, then I would reccomend buying it without hesitating. I don't regret purchasing this bookcase and if I had to do it over again, I'd purchase it in a heartbeat! It's been two years since I bought it and it looks very elegant in my home.

My only complaint is that it's a tad darker than it appears in the pictureIt's more of a light brown than a blonde color. Regardless, we like it, and get lots of complements. The shelves in and of themselves are well built but the person or persons responsable for the instructions either never put one together or just have no idea how to convey how it really needs to be done. What should be a 20 minute job turned into 2 hours of frustration. I took it apart and put it together as it needs to be. I called the company and told them and I have no idea if they changed the instructions.

Lots of storage, great for the garage. Bins fit well and all items are easily identified. I would recommend to anyone needing a little extra organization for a reasonable price.

I am giving this three stars because the directions were poorly illustrated and the shelve inserts required extra fasteners to stay in place.

The instructions were straight forward, but the illustrations were poor and in some sports you couldn't tell exactly where to put each rung. It is important because to get your shelves to look like the one in the product picture you have to know exactly which hole the bolts go in. The instructions do not make this clear. I got it put together, but after several rounds of re-adjusting the shelving brackets.

Also, the shelf insert were only just big enough to fit into the brackets. I ended up zip tying them in place. Otherwise, the shelf would pop off the rails. It works well once you do this.

I love the space it saved and the organization it provides.

The baskets I got with this bookcase were very poor quality. They are unraveling all over. They also have two metal pegs on the bottom that scratch the wood finish of the Shelf. i had to Cover the entire bottom of my baskets with felt and line the insides because they scratch and knick everything they come in contact with. The pictured baskets look a lot smoother, nothing like the ones I got. The shelf itself is pretty good quality.

I bought this to serve as an organizational tool for my family. I needed something to hold things that I found randomly around the house. With this unit there is room for everyone to have their own basket. The baskets are light enough with two handles for my kids to carry their own things to their rooms each night. The baskets are made of cornhusk, so they aren't the sturdiest material but they are of a size that would be easy to replace later on if necessary. The unit itself is very easy to put together and I was pleasantly surprised at the quality, considering it came in pieces. The back panels are a thin plywood rather than the cardboard you typically find on build it yourself furniture. Overall the piece looks classy and fits in nicely with a contemporary or traditional decor. I do recommend.

I like this shelf a lot. It was pretty easy to put together by yourself (though I think it recommends two people). The baskets are a bit smaller than I would have thought but they're still useful for storage. The whole thing is a lot sturdier than I was anticipating based on the cost.

The color is true to the picture... a dark brown, espresso color which goes great with the similar colored furniture in my apartment.

All in all, I would recommend this product, just make sure that you check all the pieces before putting it together because Amazon cannot send you ONE replacement piece... just a whole new one.

I bought this item as a Christmas present. After reading reviews, and searching for other possiblities this one won out. The recipent of the gift says it is perfect! I thought the item was priced right, for the features it had and shipped in a very timely manner.

I got this plus two plain units to set on either side of this "Ladder Shelf Storage with Wine Rack". It took me about 2 hours to put all three together. The directions were fairly clear however they didn't consider gravity so some steps were more difficult than necessary. After the first unit I learned some shortcuts and tricks, it got easier. The wine rack unit was the most complicated and delicate, it would have been easier with help, but thats why we have bungee cords, eh? This is not a high-end item and could not withstand heavy use or abuse. Its qualitiy is price appropriate (i got all 3 for less than $150, delivered). I got it for a rec-room that doesn't see much action, a good application I think.

Quick - Shelf Hangers Six Shelf 16" Deep Ceiling Mount Shelving Unit

These shelf hangers are surprisingly easy to assemble and disassemble for relocation. Instead of drilling about 54 holes in the wall for the multiple support brackets for each shelf (3 screws/bracket x 3 brackets/shelf x 6 shelves), there are only 6 holes for the eye screws for the Quick Shelf. You don't need to install all of the under shelf clips for the Quick Shelf, but you should use all of the 18 additonal screws to attach the shelves to an L-bracket support.

The 6 shelves can be split into two sets of three or 4+2 or 5+1, or 2+2+2, etc. by adding only 6 or 12 eye screws.

Using full 1 inch thick pine boards, we made 10 foot long shelves with no sags. The product spec says it holds 1050 lbs. I believe it.

For wet basements and garages, they don't sit in water on the floor nor do they attach to a damp wall.

I'm not sure why I didn't think of this beforehand, but it is pretty impossible to find any plywood boards over 8' long. Again, I don't know why I didn't think of this as I am in the lumber store every day, and it never occurred to me that when you space these out at 4 foot lengths, and get even the tiniest bit of overhang, you will have to figure out a way to create your own shelves. The instructions allow for 8 foot widths (for light loading), and my joists are on 24" centers, so I was left with about a 10.5' shelf. My first joist was about a foot from the wall, as the header was buried in the wall, with less than an inch to bite into, so I just located the next joist which was 1 foot from the wall. I really needed these shelves to butt up to the wall, so this was my solution.

My idea was to rip down a 2x4x10 in half, and then screw a piece of 3/4" ply onto the 10' section. It turned out cheaper than using the straight 1" ply, since I had the 3/4 just laying around, but it took a few minutes of frying neurons to figure it out. It was still plenty strong after I screwed the brackets into the wall.

Great system, and the total costs for the wood was around $12. If you need to buy the plywood, it should run you no more than $28 for the wood. You obviously need a table saw, as the lumber stores I go to only have a mitered chop saw, or one of the fancy vertical table saws and that's all. Not much in the way of free cuts when it comes to ripping down 2x4's. So if your joists are not on 16", and you want the maximum shelving possible for the system, be ready to rip down a 2x4.

If anyone has any other solutions to this problem please let me know, as I plan on installing another set of these. They literally took me 10 minutes to install, but I also knew where my joists were. Just drilled 6 holes, and inserted the eye bolts. I used a 1 1/4" socket to get the eye bolts in as I just couldn't find my 1 1/8" socket. Worked like a charm, just had to use the low speed on my drill. Great shelves, sturdy, and I couldn't see these breaking, even will all of my tools on them.

These are great hanging shelves. The metal hangers are quite substantial. I bought this model (14" wide) and also two of the 24" deep version Quick Shelf Hangers Overhead Ceiling Mount Storage Unit. The 16" and 24" are identical, just the hanger is wider.

Note, some people noted using a hex socket to install. I recommend it. My 24" set needed a 1 1/4" socket, and my 16" set needed a 1 1/8" socket.

With 3/4 plywood or particle board, you have a very sturdy shelf.

I used 4 hangers, with 8' boards -which doesn't match the photo. I used 4 longs on top, and then 3 rows of 4 each of the shorter. I ended up with a little extra hardware and did not reach the floor. For me it is perfect because I can store some items directly on the floor below.

A reminder: a typical 4'x8' board (48" x 96") divides cleanly into 3 16" boards. Free cutting at a large box store. I ended up using white melamine on particle board, which is perfect for a basement.

I ordered two of these. It's not exactly a small item to be shipped or moved around.

Of the two, the first box I opened didn't have the top 4 poles. I called Alera and they said that I'd have to return it because they couldn't ship me 4 poles. If they were screws there would not have been a problem. I contacted Amazon and they immediately sent me a replacement with one day shipping. Great experience. I had it delivered by UPS and had them pick up the defective unit. It made my life easier.

On with the product, quick and easy to build once you figure out how you want to space out the shelves. Just screw in the poles, snap in the plastic wraps based on the height you want and you are set.

Sturdy and spacious allowing me to organize my garage much better.

These shelves are excellent. High quality and simple to put together, what more could you ask for?

Got these in two days with Amazon Prime and they have really transformed our kitchen. We no longer are searching for places to put things.

Two of these heavy duty large shelving units have done wonders organizing the garage. The shelves come with leveling feet and are easy to assemble, but it did take two people to slide the shelves on because they are large and have to be lowered gradually and evenly on both ends. I would like an additional shelf or two but didn't purchase because of the cost. I have several metal shelving units throughout the house, but this Alera unit is definitely the most heavy duty. These are high quality: the steel is heavy gauge and the finish is smooth. The two foot deep shelves are good for storing a large ice chest, for patio furniture cushions, 40-lb sacks of bird seed and large bags of potting soil. These bags can sit across the 24" inch depth, so they don't have to be sideways which would take up too much space on the shelves.

Update: When I contacted Alera and explained my situation they immediately sent out replacement parts no questions ask. For this reason I have moved my rating from one to four stars. I would prefer 3 1/2. Anyway they were so courteous and professional that I have let go of me previous frustrations. This is a good product I just was not willing to settle for defective pieces and now that I have everything the way it should be I am happy.

These shelves are very nice when constructed properly. I purchased 4 however I received one that was bent and cracked on one of the critical welds. I sent it back and received another bent in the same general way. I sent that one back and again received another one bent, in several places this time. I have spent an enormous amount of time sending, and receiving these shelves. I am not pleased. They were obviously that way from the factory because the box was fine. I am going to contact Alera directly and request that they send me an undamaged shelf so I can put it together and be done with this. I will post their response.
