Putting this shelf together was a tremendous hassle. You would think a folding shelf would come fairly assembled already. Instead, the folding construction makes it very difficult to assemble as directed. The included allen wrench stripped the wood screws very quickly. I had to buy a new set of similar screws and put the shelf together with a power drill. That was the only way to get the hardware tight enough to hold the shelf together safely and sturdily.

I received two of the same side pieces not two different(a single left and a single right) side pieces.

Very poor quality control. Six weeks later, I'm still waiting on the manufacturer to ship the correct piece.

sure this is what you want, and that you are able to assemble it.

After two hours of stripped screws, mangled shelves, and smashed fingers, I ended up using 3 bungee cords to hold a simple 3 shelf bookcase together. It holds books now, but I could have accomplished the same thing with some cement blocks and 1x6 planks. It is junk, and I'm assuming most of the other Winsome Wood products are of equally cheap construction. Save your money!

I'm so disappointed that I had to put these together myself. I really wanted these bookcases, I ordered (4) of them because they're stackable and they look great. I already had a couple of them from years back that I ordered from Stacks and Stacks and have been very happy with them. Years ago, when I first purchased, they were pre-assembled when I bought them directly from the store.

I tried for almost 45 minutes to put (1) bookcase together and gave up in frustration when I realized they would not be able to be stacked together the way I expected (this required hinges and extra brackets to be secured to the wall; not like the first set of bookcases I purchased which stacked together with pegs and did not need to be secured to the wall).

I'm returning all (4) pieces and am back to square one for my bookcase needs. Such a simple design, I don't know why they don't come pre-assembled.

I ordered 5 of these shelves to fill an empty corner of my study and create a place to perch one of my satellite surround sound speakers as well as other momentos and knick knacks. Skip to the bottom if you have an un-square wall corner and are worried about installing these shelves!

First the bad stuff:

Of the 5 ordered, 3 had damaged corners. I suppose with some some wood glue, primer, and paint, I could have it looking good as new again, but I didn't order "instant" shelves to end up with a 3 hour project on my hands. I'm disappointed that I now have to return the damaged shelves and then probably re-order more than I need as I'm sure the next batch will also have damaged corners, and then return those that I don't need. Kind of a hassle. Also, the paint that came with the shelves was a little thin in some spots on some pieces, but otherwise decent.

Now the good stuff:

These shelves look pretty good once up. The details on the front are subtle enough to fit most decors. They also install easily, even with the modifications I had to make to fit my slightly un-square room. I used a level to make sure they were perfectly straight. The overall outcome looks very clean, I'm pleased.

Overall, 3 stars for a good product with an unfortunately high susceptability to damage during shipping.

NOTE: If you have unsquare corners as I did, installing these shelves only takes an extra 5 minutes each! The sides of the shelf which face the walls have a deep channel in them for the plastic pins to fit into once they've been pinned on the wall. This means it's very easy to sand down the side of the shelf to create any angle you desire. I made a template using the cardboard packaging that came with the shelf and found that if I drew a line from 1/8 of an inch inside from the 90 degree corner to the very point of one of the other corners, I could create an angle that fit my wall's corner exactly. (Around 95-100 degrees I'd guess) I used a mouse sander with 80 grit paper to make quick work of removing the material along the line I drew. I then shorted the plastic pin a bit using a razor blade and installed them as normal. They turn out great and the wider angle is imperceptible! I'll put up some pics after Amazon replaces my damaged shelves.

I was hesitant to order this product, but the installation only took a screwdriver and about 3 minutes of my time. The only downfall is this product assumes the walls in your house are square. The drywall here wasn't exactly square, so there is a 1/4" gap on one side. The shelf still performs as intended and was totally worth the money. It's only holding picture frames, but it feels like it could hold much more weight, even with the skewed corner angle.

I Just put up this shelf in my daughters room for her video monitor. It was very easy to install with no tools at all. It took my husband about 3 minutes total. It came in perfect condition and matches the white molding in her room perfectly. We would def order this again!

In my limited experience, the whitmoor metal shelving is on par with metro at a much lower price-point. This cart is sturdy and works quite well for me except for one flaw I unfortunately found.

It was too late by the time I found out that my cart, with approximately 40lbs of weight on it, left tracks all over my hardwood. Upon inspection, it was easy to see that the wheels have a small lip on the inside of them from coming out of a mold. So instead of having an inch surface distributing the weight they had a fraction of an inch lip taking the weight and digging down into my floor. This was certainly unexpected and my new flooring is certainly now flawed to the visible eye.

While I could possibly try to sand down the lip, I now just use my cart as a stand instead. Live, learn, share.

These carts and shelving units are the best I've ever seen. They are flexible in shelf height, a minimum of one inch between, and it is very easy to reposition shelves after months of use... I have several shelf units and two carts and I plan on purchasing more. For those of you unfamiliar, not a better purchase can be made. Some units even come with wheels for even more flexibility.

This cart cost me only around $29 on sale, and it's perfect for my microwave oven on top and my toaster oven in the middle. Some say you can turn the top rack upside down to accommodate a microwave oven without having the door hit the sides of the shelf. This is not true. The cart is designed for each shelf to be placed with the correct side up, otherwise it would just rest insecurely. I did easily resolve the problem with the microwave door by putting a cork coaster under each of the microwave's front two feet. Now it opens perfectly.

This cart is not quite as sturdy as others say. On a hard kitchen floor, you can lock two of the four castors, but this doesn't help. Even if locked, the cart can just slide around on the hard floor, like when you push buttons on the microwave. I have it pushed against the wall, and that helps, but it still shakes when I press microwave buttons.

For the price I think it's perfect for my kitchen. It is sturdy, just not quite as sturdy as other reviewers are raving about.

I'm not even sure if dent-able is a word, but that's the best way to describe this. I bought it for my garden and my son leaned on it and it dented right away. It's nice looking though, holds my plants well enough, but make sure your little ones lean elsewhere.

It's not the most durable table in the world or anything like the "Poly-Te by Galvanized Potting Bench" that I also purchased, but this one is much cheaper, so you get what you pay for I guess. It will be fine as long as you're not rough on it. It was a little difficult to assemble as well.

At first I was very happy with this mantel. It gave us the exact look we wanted, until we stained it. I knew going in Pine does not accept stain great but there is so much wood filler and glue alll over this thing that you do not see when it is unfinished. Then when you rub the stain on there are huge areas that the stain won't stick to. Now I have no choice but to paint it:( Very disappointed.

I received my mantle in great condition. I opened the box and was in awe. I ordered the already stained rustic and for my application, it is amazing. I have to say for my application, if I were to have used only the shelf hanger it would have been very easy install. I chose to use the hanger and the corbels which I had to modify. I love the result though. The corbels in my opinion make the mantle come to life. Be advised it is NOT a solid block of wood. It is a hollow frame of thick pine. I can't be positive but I thought the description said"solid".

I would buy this again. Huge improvement from what the house had.

We love our new mantle! We got the unfinished one, then used American Walnut from Lowes and it looks amazing. It was very easy to stain and easy to install. It adds so much to our fireplace. We did not use the corbels since ours was going on above our slate surround and they line up flush with the back of the mantel and the tiles were about 1/4" thick.

The shelves are as described except the dimensions are woefully off. Each individual shelf is 36" wide X 18" deep. The total unit assembled is indeed approximately 57" high. The extra size kills my ability to set them in the space I had planned out. Otherwise they seem sturdy, and at least the package I opened didn't seem to have damage on any of the parts.

Sauder Heritage Hill 5 Shelves Bookcase in Classic Cherry Finish

I've bought many book shelves over the years on the low cost side as can't afford thousands for a bookshelf. By far this bookshelf by Sauder is the best I've purchased that was at an affordable price. Nice cherry wood finish all the usual parts for these kinds of bookshelves -and get this, even a "Furniture Touch-up Pen" included for any future mars or marks. Nice touch.

This is a great looking set of shelves that have a really classy look and will really bring something lovely to any room. The major problem with this is that the set up isn't the easiest I've ever seen and Sauder makes this actually a bit of an unnecessary pain in some places. Be prepared for a potential 3 hour exercise if you're not careful and don't try to do it alone. It's impossible. By far the most difficult aspect of the job is the front facing mouldings on either sides of the case. Some of the instructions could also be slightly clearer but all in all, the effort is worth it for a great affordable set of shelves. Also don't be put off buying other Sauder bookcases just because the construction of this one is slightly pyschotic. I've put up other Sauder bookcases and they were a lot easier.

Bookcase was well packaged, except for the back panel which was folded leaving two ugly creases. Books will cover them up but they can still be seen. Other than the back panel, it's probably the best looking screw-together bookcase on the market. I bought it to match my computer desk which is also the Heritage Hill series. Structurally, it's not so good. I may not have bought it if I had known the shelf capacities were considerably less than the competition. Sauder does not bother to tell you that the shelves are only 5/8" thick and the movable shelves carry only 25#. I think if Sauder will upgrade the shelf capacities and repackage it so the back panel would not have to be folded, they would have an outstanding product. They could also think about adding an optional sixth shelf since the spaces are almost 14".

This is a beautiful bookcase. After looking at hundreds of bookcases online, I chose this one and am very satisfied with it. I bought it to go in my son's bedroom for him to display all of his Legos' on. After getting the first one and putting it together with my son (He thoroughly enjoyed it, and compared it to putting together Legos'.) I ordered a second one. I highly recommend it! Just take your time assembling it because it can be a little confusing if you're not used to doing this type of thing.

The product has a rich color. Apart from the sloppy delivery causing it's first dent/scratch, the workmanship is "OK". Precision could be much better, as not all pieces line up tightly. It is somewhat sturdy, and the backing seams are very noticeable. Glad they included a touch up marker. Some traditionally metal pieces are now plastic. Overall, quality is no more than what you would expect for the price.

Putting this together was the hardest and the most confusing thing in the instructions I was to use 50 nails and I have like 20 nails left over and I don't see what the 50 nails are for. Be careful when putting this together because it will chip the paint easily and on top of that is very cheap wood. Be careful when trying to screw the nail in the wood the wood will chip and break off.

The COLOR of this product is misleading I bought this because it look like it could match my two side pieces and I wanted this to go in the middle of it..when I got this it looks like the crayon brown or a hersey candy chocolate. The Marble which is the top piece is like the only thing that is good quality or maybe the heaviest.

I will not reccommend this product to no one and I will never buy furniture online again I need to see the color for myself

HON Overfile Storage Cabinet for Lateral File

Overfile storage arrived as promised with packaging intact.

As I unpacked it, I noticed some signs of wear on the doors as if they were rubbing when sliding in the tracks. In my home office for personal filing, it was not a deal breaker. I should ask for some touch up paint.

As for the installation, it was simple enough. I managed to heft it onto my 4-drawer lateral without dropping, scraping, or self-injury (after removing all that was installed to allow the mounting holes to be drilled into the file and screws driven). The cordless drill was handy for this. My pregnant wife watched in the wings to give aid or call 911.

The unit itself clearly showed abrasions from the doors rubbing together. When reassembling the shelves, dividers and doors, I thought something was missing or wrong. Much to my disappointment, the design is just the doors sliding in plastic tracks which are not actually attached or snapped or clipped to the cabinet. No bearings, no wheels, no glide feet, no screws or tape. I was, again, disappointed considering the cost and HON's reputation.

The doors still scrape together when you open or close them. They fit my needs and I did a lot of research. I do NOT want to ever have to replace these so I paid the price for what should last.

I do recommend this cabinet.

Just bought 2 of these to replace 2 exact same caddies. My wife and I like the look of the nickel finish and the large capacity. Unexpectedly, the old ones rusted away in less than a year. Atlantic Mitsu 64835193 52 CD/36 DVD/BluRay/Games 2-Tier Media Rack Smoke

This rack came in a small box with the parts needed for construction, no extra tools needed. The entire rack consists of plastic frame reinforced by metal bars for each shelf, making the entire thing seem somewhat weak or unstable looking. Comes with wall mounters which i didn't use, you'll have to consult with somebody else about those. But for the most part, the product is rather stable and my rack of ps2 games hasn't fallen down yet, which i say is a huge plus because it's a full 90 dvds. The shelves however themselves aren't shelves, it's just like, 2 bars pretty much, so they sometimes sit in the hole on the shelf layer rather than the shelf itself. I have not had any dvd topples or falls or real incidents with it so i say that's more or less a minor setback, but its still there.

At this point I am satisfied with this product; its compact, holds 90 dvds, cheap, and it works. May not be as nice as a real wooden media shelf, but hey, you get what you pay for.

Well it holds DVDs. Sometimes putting them on the shelf is annyoing, because the edge of the dvd may fall between the opening on each level (each "shelf" is comprised of a piece of plastic, a gap and a metal rod).

It was only $20 dollars or so, but it feels like something that should have cost $8 or $10 as I know you can find some made of particle board for about $30 that are much sturdier.

It is small though, and it fit perfectly where I needed it. It just feels a little cheap.

This DVD rack is sold by Atlantic, and made made by Mitsu, which is based out of India. I bought this rack because it was cheep and the reviews indicated it worked. I make my own furniture and I currently have many projects in the making. My wife asked for a DVD rack, which I do not have time to make right now, so we looked for something cheep that would keep the DVD's out of the floor temporarily. This rack worked just fine. I would like to address two issues I read in other reviews.

Assembly: It is much easier, when assembling anything to not tighten any screws, or bolts, until the entire project is put together. This allows for some moving room and it is easier to fix mistakes.

Tips/Falls easily: The first thing I noticed about this rack was that the base is the same width as the body of the rack. It stands to reason that once loaded with DVD s it is going to be top heavy, therefore it will fall over. It is designed to be screwed to the wall, but I wanted it to be free standing. I cut a plywood board two inches wider and two inches longer than the plastic rack. I carefully drilled holes in the plastic rack legs and I attached the rack to the plywood base. Now, the bottom base is wider, longer and heavier then the rack, so it stands up straight and it will not fall over even with the top loaded with DVD s. If you want to try this, be sure and pour water on the drill as you are drilling plastic. This keeps it from cracking. If you do not want to try drilling in plastic, you can strap it to a wood base board.

I bought this stand because of its smaller size to fit between a fireplace and a window and it works beautifully. The stand comes in a lot of pieces but goes together fast and easy. There are 2 wall braces that require being screwed into the wall. This makes it super sturdy.

This is not what I had expected for approx $25. If this were a $10 shelf I would be satisfied with the purchase, but I believe we should have received better quality for this price.

The shelf has a good appearance, and that's about where the positives end. It is made of a real light plastic. It does not stand well on it's own and needs to be anchored to the wall (anchoring hardware is included). The assembly is easy enough (yes, every bit of it needs assembly). I will say it will hold the 90 DVDs it advertises.

I believe it would be wise to spend your money elsewhere than on this product. I read other reviews and thought it would be worthwhile to purchase this shelf -Wrong! As I stated, this is a $10 product. I had assumed the quality would match the price and I was incorrect. Look elsewhere. Learn from my mistake.

Altra Traditional Console, 61-Inch

I had such high hopes for this center. It looks beautiful in the picture. However, I cannot say anything about how it looks assembled in person. As I unpacked it from the box I found scratches, dents, and gouges in the pieces. I got through 6 parts, and when I saw the deep gouge scored all the way across the side panel I put it all back in the box and returned it. This is INEXCUSABLE on the manufacturer's part all of this damage was found on pieces that were encased in styrofoam. The damage I found was absolutely not the result of shipping damage. This damage was all done in the packing warehouse by the manufacturer. The pieces looked like they had been kicked and dragged across a parking lot before throwing them into a box to be sold to some sucker.

I called Altra up (my kit did have an instruction book, one plus for it, so it was easy to find their number). I told them about the issues. They said they didn't do it. What?!? Lets see, new box, sealed up, pieces encased in packing material, and the shipper did it?!? "And what about the gouge across the piece in the middle of the stack?" I asked. Their response: the store opened the box and put the scratch there.

I had to laugh. Who has time to do that? I can just picture some prankster employee sitting in the back room of the warehouse saying to himself, "Huh huh huh, let's see what I can do to this" and then he proceeds to carefully unwrap the box, take out the two heavy top and bottom pieces to get to the middle stack, then he takes out his utility knife and carves an arc across the board. Right. If that was me I would have at least carved my initials or "Kilroy was here."

Needless to say, I will never buy anything made by Altra again. At least I did purchase it locally, so it wasn't as much of a pain in the behind to return the thing. Buyer beware on this one.

This stand is excellent but it does have issues. To begin with, it does not have an instruction booklet included with the package. In order to build this product, you need to go on the web, find the product number, and download the instruction booklet. If you do not have web access for any reason, you cannot build the stand. Can I select no stars? This doesn't even deserve one. This is the crappies product I have ever purchased online. I purchased 2 of these bookcases to house all of my books. Before I even put the books on the shelves, they fell apart. The product is made with particle board and cannot withstand any amount of weight or movement. The 2nd to bottom shelf caves in first, and then the others follow. I've never been more frustrated with a product. And let me add, I am a perfectionist when it comes to putting furniture parts together, so this outcome was not due to poor furniture building skills. If you purchase this, good luck. I would love to see the after photos of it laying in your living room in 5 different broken pieces with your wife crying with disappointment in the background.

This looks just like it looks in the pic. Good for book and knick knack storage in a tight space. The top shelf/plank was split upon arrival. We glued and clamped it, but it was a little disappointing.

I liked this one because the scarves are stored individually, so that you can find and remove the one you want without disturbing the others. I also liked it, because it wouldn't snag or damage the scarves.
